Romans speaks to Christians today just as powerfully as it did in the first century. It addresses moral, intellectual, social, and spiritual issues, but most importantly, it lays the theological foundation for the Christian how God has made it possible through Christ for sinners to be made right before Him. Join John MacArthur as he explains each verse in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical. Taking into account the cultural, theological, and Old Testament contexts of each passage, MacArthur tackles interpretive challenges and fairly evaluates differing views, giving the reader confidence in his conclusions. The MacArthur New Testament Commentary series comes from the experience, wisdom, and insight of one of the most trusted ministry leaders and Bible scholars of our day. Each volume was written to be as comprehensive and accurate as possible, dealing thoroughly with every key phrase and word in the Scripture without being unnecessarily technical. This commentary will help to give a better, fuller, richer understanding of God's Word, while challenging the reader to a vibrant personal spiritual walk. A great resource for pastors, teachers, leaders, students, or anyone desiring to dig deeper into Scripture
John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.
MacArthur, the gifted, expository preacher of our age, brings Romans to his congregation in such unique and helpful ways. Always anchored to to the text, giving the literal meaning of the Word, yet still driving the theology home with illustrations and application. Read him, but only after you have done your own work in the text and sermon/lesson prep. Highly recommended!
9-25-2013, I finish Romans 9 in my personal Bible Study this morning and just finish reading Romans 9 in this commentary. Tomorrow, I will start Romans 10 in my personal Bible Study and start reading Romans 10 in this commentary. Today 4-28-2014, I finish reading this wonderful Romans commentary. Thankful and I did learned a lot that I didn't know!
John MacArthur's two large volumes on Romans has been a fascinating study of verse by verse illumination. Not only have these book raised my spiritual awareness, but I also have gained a historic sense of perspective of the time of Paul's writing. I add my voice to others who have gained a tremendous knowledge from carefully reading an excellent scholar's viewpoint of scripture.
