Through attempting to live a transformed life by the power of the Holy Spirit, the church in Ephesus was immersed in an evil culture and surrounded by sin and pagan ways. Discouraged believers needed a reminder of God's grace and love of the blessings they had in Jesus Christ, and of their commitment to holiness. Written by the apostle Paul as a letter of encouragement and admonition. Ephesians gives a refresher course in New Testament doctrine and provides a practical blueprint for Christian behavior. Through this letter, Paul shows us our continual need for God's help and demonstrates that everything good we enjoy is an expression of His great love. The Mac Arthur Study Guide Series provides a twelve week, verse-by-verse examination of the books of the New Testament. This revised and updated series continues to be one of the best-selling study guides currently available for individuals or small groups. Features
John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.
This was an excellent look at Ephesians. We studied it together and were blessed to have extra teaching from a pastor. Unfortunately I was unable to make the last few classes so I can say that even if you read this book alone you will get great insight and discover immeasurable blessings in Christ. Topics included are the richness of His grace, prayers that please the Father and spiritual warfare plus more. It's a study that takes you through the whole book of Ephesians. If you like book of the Bible studies you'll enjoy this one.
Thought provoking guide to Ephesians. The linkages between various related passages of scripture was helpful as scripture commenting on scripture is the best.
My small group finally gave up on this study. We bogged down about half way through it and finally stopped two chapters from the end. It was not challenging enough for us. We had enjoyed the Romans study in this series immediately prior to starting this study of Ephesians. However, this study was disappointing and uninspiring.
This has been one of the best Bible studies I have completed. It kept me engaged and was not full of shallow theology. Many studies I have completed over the last few years have vague questions, self-centered reflections, and/or weak theology. Some of those studies could be completed without reading the text, but that is not the case with this book. I would recommend this to any believer, new or lifelong, because of the way you dive into the word and actually study it.
This is a great resource for someone learning how to study the Bible. It does not overwhelm the reader with too much history & grammar, but does highlight some key words and ideas. It even has some good discussion questions for a group to work through as they study Ephesians together.
It was nice to go verse by verse an entire book of the Bible and explain it often word by word so that you can apply that to daily life it's amazing how much scripture applies today as it did 2,000 years ago
These study guides are a fantastic way to supplement understanding of the Bible. Highly recommend for anyone needing help to understand the books or trying to dig a little deeper into meaning.
This study of Ephesians helped me to grasp an overview of the book while at the same time digging into the depths of it's many riches. Ephesians shows us who we are in Christ as well as how it affects our daily life. The helps that John MacArhtur has put in this study guide, along with the cross referance passages were a wonderful aid in helping me dig deeper, yet in a simple way, into the book of Ephesians.
Good bible study from Joh MacArthur; great insights
This book takes you through the epistle of Ephesians. John MacArthur provides some great insights into the meaning behind the words Paul wrote to the Ephesians. His insights allow us to see ourselves in this letter. The questions were also very useful and trigger good conversation.
Very good commentary and study guide. Its so helpful, I got so into it that I never got past chapter two and just read the first two chapters over and over.
