Walter Franklin Buehr (14 May 1897 - 2 Jan 1971) was an American author and illustrator of children and young adult books, most of which are biographies or science related works.

Walter studied art in Philadelphia, New York and Europe. He fought in WW2 and worked for an automobile plant as a time-and-study man. In 1952 he started writing and illustrating his own books.
