A mysterious letter hidden for over a century reveals a long-lost
In 1843, Charles Dickens wrote one of the most famous ghost stories of all time. A novel of yuletide redemption that has echoed through the ages. But Dickens harbored a dark secret, revealed only to his best friend in a long-lost letter. He didn’t just write the He lived it.

A house that should not
When John Decker finds the letter hidden inside a rare first edition, he can’t resist following in the famous author’s footsteps to Boston, which Dickens visited almost two centuries before. There, he discovers a strange and ghostly house within which lurk the secrets of his past, and the terrifying shadows of his future.

Only one way
Now, trapped inside this impossible house, Decker must face his demons. Because if he doesn’t, he and Nancy might be trapped there forever.

Please This book includes text from and expands on the prequel story from the short novella Blood Moon, which was previously given away to those who signed up for my mailing list through a link at the back of the novel What Vengeance Comes.

A solid book in the series but it does incorporate a prequel of sorts. If you have read the prequel, then there is a lot of this novel that is repeated. If you haven’t read the prequel, then this would go up at least one more star, as it is a good story. Having read the prequel, it was a bit of a let down and I simply skimmed through many chapters.

Well our John has decided to throw his toys out of his pram, as the saying goes. He has left CUSP because he feels they have lied and used him.
Meanwhile Nancy is reading the rare first edition, A Christmas Carol, John had bought her on his travels. Inside she finds a handwritten letter by Charles Dickens. This leads John and Nancy on an investigation to Boston.
This story includes the brilliant back story of John's parents, Robbie and Lily. It tells of their interactions at various times with the witch, Annie Boucet, seen in What Vengeance Comes. This fast paced story that places sensitivity alongside fast paced action. Was Annie always evil and what part did Robbie and Lily play? All the shocking answers are there for John and also a clever twist at the end.
A superb 5* rated book that will leave you wanting more. A fast paced read that will answer much of John's, and family, backstory.
I received an advanced copy of this book and willingly leave this honest review.

I am annoyed with myself at throwing in the towel 13 books into a 15 book series but I cannot force myself to keep reading…I wasn’t having a good time and life is too short!

I'm not going to leave a spoiler so I'm just going to say this; I love the Decker series and this book may become my favorite. I could hardly put it down, first chapters are bit slow but they set the stage, then it's action and suspense throughout. I loved the Annie Doucet character from his first book and this answered so many questions about her and John Decker's family history as well. You will not regret reading this book, it's wonderfully imaginative and compelling.

3 out of 5 is the best I can do

I am an avid John Decker fan and have read and enjoyed the entire
series but Night Wrath was unmercifully repetitive. I almost set the book aside after the first seven chapters-retelling the entire series was as pointless as it was boring. I really didn’t get invested in the story until Chapter 20 even then I can’t say I enjoyed the rest of the book. Unlike Strong’s other books Night Wraith was very easy to put down. Sorry. I just can’t recommend this book.

AM I READY FOR THE NEXT JOHN DECKER BOOK IN THE SERIES - HELL YES!!!!

(Especially after this book, I ask the author)!!

Night Wraith is the 14th book in the John Decker Series, and it was unputdownable, whoosh whoosh demolished and devoured in 2 sittings, that is how addictive this series is amazing!!!

Well, here we go. Nancy finds a letter that John brought back from the past inside a book that Charles Dickens wrote in a rare edition. Charles mentions a house that shouldn't exist a ghostly house. He visited 2 centuries ago, and it showed him the past, present, and future.

As you can guess, John and Nancy go on an adventure for curiosity to see if it's real or not, as usual, this book has horrors. What will they be? Pick the book up and find out you won't be disappointed!!!

Over many years from all the books I have read, everytime he draws me in from the first word to the very last in the book, I literally devoured this book, wow just brilliant, looking forward to the next book, addictive and unputdownable, totally gripping absolutely loved it !!!!

A masterfully inventive thriller that brilliantly reimagines Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" as a supernatural mystery. The clever premise, a hidden letter revealing that Dickens actually experienced the haunting he wrote about launches Decker and his fiancée Nancy into a chilling investigation in Boston, where an impossible ghostly house becomes the stage for the series most emotionally resonant entry yet. Strong peels back layers of his protagonist's mysterious past with genuine skill, using the Ghost of Christmas Past framework to finally answer long-standing questions about Decker's origins and connection to the supernatural world, while never losing sight of the page-turning suspense that fans expect. The result is both a thrilling standalone adventure and a pivotal chapter in the series that deepens our understanding of its hero, proving that Strong can balance heart-pounding horror with meaningful character development. A must-read for series followers and a compelling introduction for newcomers drawn to inventive supernatural fiction.

If you have not read what vengeance comes I recommend reading that book before reading this one. Decker and Nancy learn that Charles Dickens might have based A Christmas Carol on an encounter he had in a haunted mansion they decide to investigate! What follows is an interesting twist on the classic book. The reader is taken on a journey of discovery into Decker's past, present and future! Some of the book features extracts from the prequel Blood Moon which tie in beautifully within the arc of this book. I loved the storytelling and the emotion in the writing. This book was different to the rest of the series didn't have fight scenes and a battle with a monster as such. I'm not gonna give any spoilers but after reading this book I think we get to know Decker alot better and it's nice to get some background on the character. The book was hard to put down! I enjoyed it very much! I got sent an ARC to give this my honest review.

John Decker has always blamed himself for things that have happened in his past, it is something that has always haunted him.
But when he and Nancy take a weekend away in Boston, it seems that his past will finally catch up with him, and all will be revealed.
Anthony M. Strong does it again! His extremely clever writing captures you with John and Nancy in this strange house, whilst John's past is intriguingly unwrapped chapter by chapter, in an eerie library by the Ghost of Christmas Past. We finally learn about John's early life, his parents, and what lies ahead, as Anthony uses a captivatingly original take on the Charles Dickens book, A Christmas Carol.
I absolutely loved this book from the very first page to the very last, I could not put it down and now cannot wait for the next book to arrive.
Hurry up Anthony, I'm waiting!

Having read EVERYTHING in the John Decker universe, I was familiar with part of this story. I gobbled it up none-the-less, learning even more of John's connection to monsters that even he was not aware of. Once I opened my reader to start this story I lived there until the final words of the last page. What an exhilarating read. Anthony Strong has a way of drawing you into his storytelling with a shiver of glee and the John Decker world is always a wild ride. My only regret in finishing this one so quickly was in knowing I now have to wait for the next.
I received a free reader's copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion of the tale.

What a clever concept; an absolutely fantastic read. I love the John Decker series and in this book we get to delve into his past. It’s great to have those nagging questions from his past finally answered. A must read for all Decker fans. I know I now want to go back and read the series from start to finish to catch anything I might have missed. If you’re a fan of supernatural things and love thrillers this book and series is for you. I may have been given an ARC for my review but I would gladly pay full price for this book.

I read this yesterday afternoon and into today so I could finish it in one sitting. I particularly enjoy alternative timelines/dimensions which the author creates with expertise. This book cohesively brings past novels' timelines full circle to the current time and beyond. It is very cleverly written using Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" format and very cleverly sets the stage for 2 new novels to be written; one being "Wolf Haven". John Decker is a very busy man and Nancy has become more involved with her husband's relationship with CUSP.

An unusual Decker read!

In this installment of the John Decker series, we get to see a more vulnerable Decker. One that shows his emotions a bit more. After finding a letter in the book he brought back to Nancy, they decide to see if they can find the house that Charles Dickens was talking about. But they may have bitten off more than they had bargained for. Lots of interesting backstory is in this novel, as well as some hints as to what is coming next. The John Decker series never disappoints. Highly recommend!

My favorite John Decker adventure so far!

In the first edition copy of "A Christmas Carol" that John Decker gave to his fiancee ,Nancy, a letter is found written by Charles Dickens. Loosely based on the Dickens tale, this fantastic, thrilling John Decker adventure has consumed my time since I began it. I'm still thinking about the characters and what they experienced. I'm so happy this entertaining, engrossing series is going to continue!

John Decker and Nancy search for the ghostly mansion in Boston where Charles Dickens got the inspiration to write his classic story "A Christmas Carroll". Once inside they face the ghosts of past, present, and future. John finds out how Annie Doucet became the Loup-garou. This was one of the best books in the John Decker series so far. Can't wait for the next one when the loup-garou returns.

If you read the First John Decker book you will be disappointed with most of this book. Even though the author explained his reasoning for re telling much of the Wolf Haven story it made this book rather boring. I was able to skip through a lot of it due to reading the books in this series to date. There was a few more in depth details included in this book though. Also reading it at Christmas was a little Dickens treat! It is going to be a long wait until August for #15

I say awesome a lot to describe something that I really like. Anthony Strong writes stories that are so exciting and keep you on the edge of your seat. John Decker series is the best, and before I even finish reading, I'm hoping that there will be another one on the way.

John Decker fresh from his return from the past, feels betrayed and quits CUSP. After finding a missing letter from Charles Dickens, he finds himself in a mysterious house, which was the inspiration for A Christmas Carol. Different book than the usual, as we find out more about his parents and his beginnings.

Not my favorite book in the series but it's still a good story. It wasn't what I was expecting but held several surprises nonetheless. I found it hard to put the book down as the short chapters and need to "see what happens next" kept me turning pages long after I should have moved on to other tasks. The last chapter has me hungry for the next book which can't come too soon.

A really great story and now it is waiting till the next Decker adventure comes out. I hope they do not bring the Kindle version out first as I don't have a Kindle. Give me a book to grip when the story gets scary and tense. Keep these stories coming!!!! I love them, Mr. Strong and I love Decker.

Slow burner, but interesting

Very different to his other Decker novels, this is more of a backstory filler, we gain a much better understanding of who Decker is and the events that shaped him. Not as exciting or action packed as his other adventures, but if you love the series, a necessary read.

This is, I believe, #14 of the John Decker series. I liked them all, but this was a singular disappointment. If I elaborated, my review would contain spoilers and I don’t want to do that. I am quite annoyed, and do not plan to get the next in the series. It seems like this talented author has run out of original plots.

This was a great read!

Imagine the tale of Scrooge, but as a house that haunted.Charles Dickens and inspired the novel.
Decker AND Nancy get to experience the ghosts of their past,.present and future in a super nostalgic way.
And as usual, us readers get left on the edge of a cliff, waiting for the next chapter!
