Katie Price’s life has long been lived in the public eye, documented both by her own books, reality tv, and the tabloids. But what does this story look like from the inside? While battling a terminal illness, Katie’s mother, Amy Price, has the last word in this honest and insightful memoir, where she reveals how her family’s past has shaped her daughter’s future. The Last Word is the definitive story of how Katrina Amy Alexandria Alexis Infield became Katie Price. It documents how her life has been shaped by a tradition of strong women, by cycles of abuse which have been repeated through generations, and by the impact of fame and trauma on a close family unit.
I loved the narrator of this book - it just flowed easily. I wanted to read this and as the proceeds are all going to good causes I felt good about reading it. Amy struggles to understand why her daughter does the things she does and tries like any mother would to stand by her daughter even through some of the farcicle marriages she has been through. Most of the men she hasn’t taken to and told her so. Her mother is a strong woman and I didn’t realise has undergone a lung transplant - I wish her all the best even though it is hard as she probably won’t recover but hope she can hang on longer now she has had the transplant.
Amy as always come across to me as what you see is what you get and this book proves that theory .. She by no means blows smoke up kates bum but also gives the reader a insight as to what has truly contributed to some of Kate’s choices and her mental health and the impact it’s had on the family I feel for them … I do sympathise with Kate it’s not easy at all having a disabled child until you love it you can only assume I know this first hand and I’m glad she has a strong mother like Amy she needs that .. I just hope she and the whole family get a break as I do think over the years they’ve had a lot of negativity unfairly many times too .. The way they all care for Harvey is amazing And I wish them all the best.. was a good read written by a very very strong down to earth lady
I was drawn to read this because Amy has a lung disease that I know I will develop in time and I was interested in how she was diagnosed and how she has coped. Her information on her own dealings with IPF proved to be insightful though she already had fibrosis upon diagnosis, whereas I am fortunate to have caught mine in the inflammatory stage. It is irreversible and eventually I also will develop fibrosis but I have the opportunity to try and manage it for some time in the hope of remaining stable and holding the fibrosis at bay for as long as is medically possible. Amy received the shocking news she already had fibrosis and therefore a terminal disease when she had assumed her asthma had worsened. Nevertheless the fact Amy lived the full 5 years of the average life expectancy following diagnosis before her transplant gives me hope and I can see the importance of trying to keep my body as healthy as I possibly can.
But Amy’s health only took up the last few chapters. The rest were mainly addressing most of the drama and press speculation related around her daughter Katie, aka Jordan. I always followed the stories, interviews, documentaries, reality shows and even read most of the books about Katie through the past 20 years and more.
Amy’s point of view is obviously biased as her mother but I’ve always liked Amy whenever she has appeared on any of Katie’s shows. She speaks bluntly and honestly and holds very little regard for fame and fortune. Her opinion on Katie’s past relationships and their effect on the rest of the family was very interesting and it is clear that the media have hugely taken some things out of context and programmes have been edited in a particular way. Amy knows her daughter’s shortcomings and throughout the years has made Kate aware of her disapproval. She has been a wonderful grandmother but especially to Harvey with his complex disabilities and needs, providing consistency and routine in a life that has been something of a whirlwind with his mum’s relationships, work and mental health illness. Her devotion to Harvey and determination to ensure he is loved and kept out of institutions when she’s no longer here is something I completely understand. He only has his mum and if anything were to happen to Kate, her sister is poised to give him the family life he needs.
Amy doesn’t hold back on her opinions about anyone or any situation and she isn’t afraid to address some of the worst moments in her family life that found their way to front page headlines. There’s a real sense that she has been authentic and honest in all she has written. There’s nothing for her to gain by not being so and she has certainly faced incredible stress over the years so I think she deserves to have the last word and the opportunity to set the record straight and attempt to change some opinions regarding years of negative headlines.
She is a strong matriarch of her family and I hope almost two years in since her lung transplant, she will still continue to keep fighting and although the transplant can’t be a cure, Amy deserves more time with her family and her care of them all will always be her priority. An outstanding mother, wife and grandmother.

I bought this book on pre order with Amazon as soon as I heard about it. When I got it thorough the post I couldn't wait to read it being a fan of Katie Price. And what an insight into the family and definitely a good insight to why Amy's daughter is the way she is. Fantastic read and very much enjoyed it. I remember meeting Katy and Junior in Weymouth on a book signing back in 2012. And I remember telling Katy that being a fan I had to name my own son Junior as well lol.
The book is brilliantly written and besides all the hate Kate gets well I'm someone that don't bother listening to the false and exagerated stories the press make! Sending love to the Price family. Mental health is horrendous to deal with. I sound my own difficult to deal with over the years as well as that of my husband and children and lost a friend due to mental health. So glad you got your transplant now Amy and wishing you well in recovery.
I loved this book by Amy Price, who is Katie Price's Mum. I listened to the audiobook, and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed hearing more about Amy's life, as well as the life of Katie, her brother and sister, and Katie's children and ex partners. It opened my eyes for sure. Now I see why Katie is so strong. It's because her Mum is too. Highly recommended!
Interesting to read from Amy's POV and let's us know that the reality is far from what we see and read about regarding Katie. Really enjoyed this book.
Would recommend 💕
All proceeds from the book go to different charities close to Amy's heart.
An interesting point of view as the parent of a famous person but also Amy has clearly lived her own life. I hope her transplant is successful and she can continue to support Harvey.
I enjoyed this book a lot, it made me also see katie in a different light aswell, she is an amazing mum to harvey and as a mum to 2 disabled children I actually find her an inspiration. Being a carer for your complex children’s needs is enough to make any upset cause a breakdown as you are always worrying, exhausted and protective at the same time. One break up can cause all the exhaustion and shock turn in to a mental health crisis.
A well written memoir and an in interesting insight into how fame can have such a far reaching impact on loved ones. If always been a bit ambivalent about Peter Andre but after reading this, I dislike him intensely and it just goes to show what a shameless PR campaign he has used.
Loved reading this book from start to finish thankfully she wasn't afraid to tell the truth about perfect Pete he was never as innocent as he liked to act just better at hiding I hope Kate finally takes responsibility for her actions and her mum Amy can get some rest now x
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and was surprised at how interesting it really was. Amy gave a balanced and honest viewpoint of everything in both hers and Katie's life, which was refreshing to read. I enjoyed the family history and thought how lovely it will be for the Price family to read in years to come. As for what has happened to Katie - my heart goes out to her. In the past I've watched her reality TV shows and it was clear that something wasn't right and she has been used a lot by both men and so-called "friends". Anyone who has been in any sort of relationship with a narcissist will relate to Katie's struggles. Narcs can make you feel like you're going insane to the point of drowning in their drama and their plea of being the victim all the time. I hope she one day reads up about these types of people and realises that their behaviour is on them, not her. This book is a heartfelt account of a mother's love for her daughter (and both of her other children), and I really hope they all find peace and the future is brighter. The people who spread abuse online need to read this and take a good look at themselves and how far they can truly push someone to the brink, which in turn affects the whole family unit. A recommended read which at certain points had me emotionally invested in their wellbeing, and I wish the Price family well. Amy and Katie's bond is truly beautiful.
Amy Price comes across as a down to earth person and she most certainly does not wear blinkers where Katie Price is concerned.
For whatever reason I've always liked Katie Price - it was obvious from an early stage that she has body dysmorphia and her taste in men is really quite horrendous but I do agree with her her mum that there is a press agenda against her.
I also agree with her comments about Peter Andre - I had the feeling as I was reading the section about him that lawyers had combed through it and probably pulled quite a lot out.
Katie Price most certainly was his ticket out of obscurity and once he had reached whatever level he had aimed at he just walked out. And the reason he has never explained why he left her is precisely because there was no reason.
It was nice to read Amy Price got her lung transplant and I do hope she has many more years as the Price family matriarch ahead of her : )
In "The Last Word" by Amy Price, an emotionally charged narrative unfolds, resonating deeply with every mother's heart. Through the trials and tribulations of Katie Price's life, the book unveils the harsh realities lurking behind the glitz and glamour of celebrity existence. Amy Price poignantly exposes her daughter's journey, navigating a manipulative world tainted by narcissistic, jealous, and controlling figures—partners and agents who should hang their heads in shame for the lengths they go for money.
This raw portrayal peels away the glossy exterior, revealing a broken yet beautiful, talented soul. The narrative doesn't merely shed light on Katie's struggles; it serves as a stark reminder of how the media, with a mere blink, can dismantle lives. Amy's account acts as a poignant call to awareness, illustrating how the manipulative grasp of the media doesn't only impact the individual but ripples through entire families, engulfing all who love them.
"The Last Word" invites readers to witness a different side of the seemingly familiar young lady we think we know. Upon finishing the book, the overwhelming desire to extend a heartfelt embrace to each character lingers—an earnest wish for them to find solace and happiness amid the storm stirred by the unforgiving world of celebrity. Amy Price's narrative is more than a story; it's a powerful testament to the resilience required when facing the destructive forces of the media, urging us all to reflect on the true cost of fame.
Mixed feelings about this book. I feel Amy blames everyone else for Katies shortcomings. Cant believe how much she hates Peter Andre, considering the crap he out up with from his wife, and the fact that Katie still says he was the only husband she ever loved. Says a lot that all three husbands say she was the mother in law from hell, although shes adamant throughout the book she didint interfere! I also laughed when she stated that when Katie is away on holiday (practically every month) its a ‘working’ holiday. Haha. Wish i could go an a working holiday. She gets the holiday paid for by posing on a beach for five minutes. Amy also says her daughter pays her own bills and supports her children. Maybe thats why shes almost a million pounds in debt, and bankrupt for the third time. I was very surprised that two of her children and her husband wrote a chapter at the end of the book, but from Katie there was silence.
Amy Price, Katie Price’s mother has been diagnosed with IPF, she is terminally ill and it is her last dying wish to set the record straight once and for all about her daughter.
For years Katie has been exploited, vilified and demonised by the media, the so-called sacrificial lamb in a celebrity slaughter. Amy isn’t naive or clueless to the fact that her daughter played up to a certain image, made foolish decisions and added fuel to the fire for her own financial gain as much as there’s.
The book in itself was supposed to be published once Amy had passed, but thankfully due to a lung transplant, this wasn’t the case. The process of writing was cathartic for the Price family but also allowed the family to understand and know more about each other, having the serious conversations they needed.
I enjoyed reading about Katie from her mother’s perspective. She praises her accomplishments, whilst also berating her poor decisions, she definitely doesn’t give her an easy ride.

Open , raw and extremely moving at times. I've listened to the audio version of this over the last week and I've got to say the narrator is great.
I've always been a bit of a Katie Price fan, having read all her own autobiographies and heard that her mum delves further into Kate's life In 'the last word'. This book certainly does, and Amy really doesn't hold back on her thoughts and opinions on her daughters life. This book isn't biased and she really does give some of her family's life choices a good going over.
It also confirmed what I always guessed - that Peter Andre is an absolute bell end - worth reading just for that !
Loved it , and would recommend even to non Katie Price fans.
I listened to the audible version and as a fan there were a lot that I didn’t know before. We’ve seen Amy on Kate’s tv shows so it was also interesting to get her perspective. I laughed at times, in particular when she was talking about her daughters ex’s as it reminded me of a typical mum. I gasped at certain situations and I cried when she spoke about “Price” and their strong relationship. I also got upset when she spoke about her illness. I knew I would like the book but I didn’t expect that it would be one of the best books I’ve ever listened too. I’d recommend it to anyone especially those who have expressed a negative opinion. Now the book is a best seller, not only does Amy have the last word but she’s also had the last laugh.
I really enjoyed reading Katie Price's mum's view of her life. It seemed to flit from blaming others, to accepting Kate makes the wrong choices but not knowing why, to not understanding why Kate does what she does. It's sad the impact it has had on the family. It was strange that there was no dedication from Kate, when there was ones from her siblings.

Beautifully honest book about Katie Price and her family written by the woman her knows her best, her mum! This no holds barred account of life with the Prices tells the tale of all of their lives but especially the truth behind the really Katie Price not the tabloid car crash we see on our screens.
Enjoyed listening to this tell all. It was narrated so well - pretty much a perfect match to Amy’s voice. It had a good insight into her life, her life with Katie. I am a big fan of the Price family.
I picked this book for another August 'Bookshelf Raiders' read because of the fact I am a mother, and I hold the belief that no one loves or knows you as a mother does. This memoir is much more than a retelling of the rise and demise of Katie's career. Even if you don't see yourself as a Katie Price fan, Amy bares all, giving reason, and understanding only a mother can!
Amy's love for her family is at the forefront of this memoir. The praise and positivity from her, despite their flaws, is transparent. However, don't be fooled! Amy is clearly the backbone of the Price family, and her strength, determination and brutal honesty in this book indicate such. Amy, in her no-nonsense way, tells it all. Warts and all, and I admire this about her.
The fact the proceeds of the book are going to charity demonstrates her selfless trait of always considering others before herself. I can not even begin to imagine how anyone deals with the fact they know they are going to die and have to prepare for such events. I sincerely hope that when the time comes Amy finds some peace, her worries over all her children and grandchildren are eased, and she is able to finally rest easy. It would be amazing if she could have the send-off she deserves without the event becoming a media circus. It is about time the Price family have some privacy and are left to deal with the great loss that Amy is undoubtingly going to leave in their lives.
From one Mother to another, Amy you are a remarkable woman, and if at the end of my life I can look back with the pride and the memories you have with your family, I will be one happy woman!
