A good book for little ones, in many ways—solid, thick cover, nonstandard dimensions, fun, colorful illustrations. Best of all is the wording of the narrator, who proclaims his love for all dogs, regardless of size, energy level, looks, interests; in other words, the sentiment mirrors the unconditional love that dogs offer us!
Overall, not too shabby. Clear language and bright pictures. I appreciate, as the reader, that there aren't too many words per page so I can work on one-to-one matching and letter identification with my three year old. The 'super sturdy' title is true - this book is tough.
In general, it's hard to write a ground breaking text on something as ordinarily wonderful as dogs. I'm glad that the author kept it simple and true.
Yeah, this book is totally fine, and the title and cover image accurately represent the content. "Paws" doesn't really rhyme with "because," but I think that detail is easy to overlook for an enthusiastic dog fan.
I Love Dogs: Super Sturdy Picture Books by Barney Saltzberg features a toddler and seven dogs, with a variety of behaviors.
Saltzberg's illustrations were done in pencil, ink and acrylic paint. The cartoon-like drawings work well for this story. My favorite images are walking, size, tricks, see-saw, couch, noses to paws, and last picture.
This toddler loves all kinds of dogs, whether they chase, bark, run, dig, sit, stand, roll, and whatever their size or characteristics. With a large size fonts, about 44 words, and cure rhymes, this should work for beginning / emergent readers. 3.5 stars.
For ages 2 to 6.5, dogs, poetry, storytime, energent readers, and fans of Barney Saltzberg.
Pretty typical book targeted toward toddlers. Predictably generic rhyming text and cute, simple illustrations. Probably the best thing about the book is the sturdy construction. Otherwise it's nothing special.
My husband read this to my daughter for bedtime. Another book that she picked out for herself. Very cute book and cute illustrations. Our daughter loves dogs too. We are trying to raise her to love all animals.
This is a fabulous storytime book. Bright, simple illustrations, easy to follow text, and lots of chances for kids to interact and play along. I use it every time I do a storytime about dogs, and it's always a hit.
Emma loves dogs, and therefore loves this book. There's nothing amazing about it, but it rhymes, and there are lots of canine illustrations, so dog-loving kids will love it.
