A huge thank you to Elford Alley for offering me an audiobook through one of our fabulous BOH giveaway posts. I will say the audiobook went almost to waste. I have been using audiobooks to soothe me to slumber every night for awhile now and after just one listen I had to immediately buy myself the ebook, because there was no way I could fall into slumber while giggling. Elford's humor truly tickled my fancy.

This story weaves together everything you could want. Abe Barret, a city employee is down on his luck and just about over the routined rut of life when one day he arrives home to not one, not two, but three ghosts in his living room. Michael, Katlyn, and Diane are so happy that someone can finally see them, so they do what all good roommates do, they bug the piss out of Abe. As if seeing ghosts (let alone living with ghosts) isn't adventure enough. Marble Springs is filled with mysterious disappearance, a serial killer, AND a lake monster... all of which city employee Abe has found himself entwined in. Follow Abe as he unearths the secrets that connects all these occurances to his own life.

I really enjoyed this story. At one point my not so book worm husband stayed by my side for a full 2 hours of listening time asking me to connect all the dots for him, because although he missed a lot of plot the narrator and plotline quickly pulled him in one evening. I absolutely adored Katlyn and all her snark. While Daine was my FAVORITE ghost. She reminded me of my best friend and I even joked that I now know what my life will be if she dies before me. After a few excerpts my friend agreed, she is a Diane. I appreciated that Elford was able to pull together a well rounded, fully solidified story with so many components in such a little page count. It was very well done.

Shout out to the AB narrator as he did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life. I ended up pairing the audiobook and ebook, because I enjoyed his narration so much, just not at bedtime.

I really enjoyed this book. I am not usually into ghost stories, but this one kept my attention. I liked the storyline. For a story involving ghosts it seemed realistic. The main thing that bothered me was the names of some of the side characters. They were too similar and when parts of the story had them together it got confusing to remember who was who. Could just be me and my bad recollection. But I didn’t like that very much. Character names I’m referring to are : Carl, Craig, Clay,….Goodman, & Grammar. The 3 C’s were many times in a scene together and so were the 2 G’s. It was just confusing for me. But I did like the ending overall. I gave 3 stars mainly for the names of those side characters and the confusion it caused me, but over all a very good book. Definitely recommend.
