This beautifully illustrated book features a young boy named Brady who loves to build. He becomes discouraged when he fails to build like the beaver, the spider, and the mama bird.

Feeling down, he fears he is not a good builder after all. Yet, his woodland friends quickly remind him that "God made you and helps you from beginning to end to do all He's created you to do."

It’s crucial to remind our children that they are God's masterpiece, created in His image and equipped with unique gifts to glorify God.

The story is a visual feast with exquisite watercolor illustrations and simple text with a playful poetic stanza that is bound to be recited on adventures:" as the rainclouds rumbled, and the salmon tumbled, and the ants went marching on."

"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars! Love it and recommend it!

✨ If you are looking for a book with charming illustrations and a living story for your young reader (3+), this lovely book emphasizes the concept of being created in God’s image. The perfect gift for a little boy. But don't count it out for daughters because my girls LOVED it.

To say that “Build” is a beautiful book would be such an understatement! The illustrations throughout are incredible, and the story about a boy who loves to build is very sweet and points readers to their Creator and His loving kindness. The boy in the story, Brady, begins to compare his building abilities to his friends: a mama bird, a beaver, and an itsy-bitsy spider. When he becomes discouraged that he can’t build in the exact way that these creatures can, he learns an important lesson: That God made him and helps him to do all that God made HIM to do! 💕

I absolutely loved this book and my little boys did too. My oldest wanted to share his review with you, too, so I promised I would include his thoughts. A review from an almost 4 year old: “Wow! These pictures are so good! Did someone really paint this?!…I love this story, especially when Brady spit out the stick. I like to build, too.”

“Build” is already on read-aloud repeat at our house! You don’t want to miss this one if you have littles.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a review copy and the sweetest box. This was such a joy to receive and review.

Our family loves another book by Emily Lex called
"twirl" so l was so excited to receive this one!
The story centers around a little boy named Brady who spends his days, nights, and every hour in between building.
But what happens when Brady gets discouraged and loses his zeal for creating? Helped along by the wonder of God's outdoor creation, and with the truth of Ephesians 2:10 as the foundation, Brady discovers that God has made him to build and will help him succeed in the work He has for Brady to do.
Kids will love the sing-songy words and the imaginative conversations Brady has with woodland creatures! And parents, you will be awed by the gorgeous watercolor illustrations and will appreciate the rich Biblical truth being conveyed!
Adding this one to my birthday book list for little boys, but my girls love it too!
Thank you to harvesthousepublishers for a complimentary book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

What a delight this book is, my friends. The paintings, the language, the sweet repetition of “the rainclouds rumbled, and the salmon tumbled and the ants went marching on.”

This is a story about a little boy named Brady who loves to build. As he explores in nature, he admires the building skills of the animals around him, and tries to mimic their techniques. As he does so, discouragement sets in when he realizes he can’t do exactly as they do. And yet, as he reflects on what God has gifted him especially to do…the joy of building returns.

This is a perfect book for little boys and girls - and all of us as we use our giftings for His glory.

What a beautifully illustrated, nature-filled book! We so enjoyed the special message- about our gifts from God, and how we are all builders in our own way. I really liked how there were different builders in nature- beaver, bird, and spider. Nature-lovers will love those little science/creature moments.
For lovers of the outdoors/nature/building/STEM/etc- they’ll like this one!

Challenging and academic, struggled to keep up at times, but with an essential main theme.
