A must read paranormal romance! (especially if you love vampires) I would love to start my review with all the spoilers I read during the last chapter, because I just could not believe what happened. I was emotionally worn out when I was finished with a totally unexpected and touching ending. But alas, I do not like to write reviews with spoilers, so here is my no-telling review:

Ciera, a vampire assigned to help solve murders committed by a rogue vampire, has been secretly watching and lusting after, Mitch, a detective working the murders. One of her clever skills is the ability to make herself invisible. As such, she silently watches Mitch nightly, invades his dreams, trying to help him solve the crime. Until one day, Mitch senses her and decides he must have her. After all, he has been with her in his dreams for nights. There is strong chemistry between Ciera and Mitch and you root for them to be together from the very beginning. But Ciera is conflicted knowing that she and Mitch both will die if she gets involved with him, a human.

While is against vampire law to reveal their existence to mortals, Ciera is forced to fully show herself to Mitch and tell him who she is, a vampire, in an effort to save him. When he becomes accused of the very murders he is trying to solve, they go on the run, seeking sanctuary where they could live together without fear of retribution (death) from the Elders.

With the assistance of a witch, they almost reach their destination. Unfortunately, Ciera's brother Dane, who is not her real brother but a vampire friend assigned to watch her, captures her. And another powerful vampire captures Mitch.

Dane is a wonderful character who I disliked in the beginning because he wanted to capture Ciera and seemed like the villain, but then later, I simply fell in love with him within 10 pages. He turned out to be just as captivating and handsome as Mitch. And Ciera who initially rebuffs his advances, soon finds herself falling in love with Dane as well as Mitch. She eventually decides she wants both men in her life and cannot live without either one. I cannot reveal more as there are some major twists and turns in the story. I was almost crying by the end.

I really, really loved this book. It was a great love story and I really hope I see some of the characters in books to come.

Forbidden Touch is a paranormal novel with strong action and suspense scenes set against the background of a love triangle. Only things are not as simple as that.
Ciera is the vampire equivalent of a Homicide Detective. She is chasing a rogue vampire out on a rampage; it is her job to bring him to justice. Mitch Foley is the best human Homicide Detective, and his job is to crack the case of a string of twenty murders. What Ciera knows and Mitch doesn’t is that the murderer he is after is the vampire she seeks. I don’t want to let you into all the secrets, but be prepared for a lot of twists along the way.
As usual, Kristie Haigwood’s characterization is brilliant. The main characters are complex and fully developed. Secondary characters, too, have their own individual voices and are perfectly formed. Her observations on human nature are spot on – she uses it to show the scheming and intrigue we are really capable of when we put our minds to it.
The storyline is faced-paced, with most of the action centred around the need to escape from pursuers, both human and the far more dangerous, vampire ones, although my favourite is the fight scene at the end, where the author manages to sneak a few more twists and turns – she does this effortlessly and with great skill.
The romance part is sweet and tasteful, and shows Ciera in a quandary which only makes her more lovable. Pursued by the man she’s always pushed away, she is surprised to discover there is more to him than at first meets the eye. Dane is just as worthy of her love as Mitch is, and in fact, through his tremendous love, Dane finds the strength to do absolutely everything it takes to win Ciera’s affection, even if it means he has to forfeit his own life.
I would recommend this book to any reader who loves a fast-paced story. Kristie Haigwood’s style is clear an no-nonsense. There are no unnecessary descriptions, no padding to make the book last longer. The whole thing is action, end-to-end.
Just like her debut novel, Save My Soul, Forbidden Touch deserves my highest rating – five stars from me.

I enjoyed the escape of reading ‘Forbidden Touch ’. I thought the characters were well developed and the plot was original. This paranormal romance kept me guessing and the direction of the story was not given away in the first 2 chapters. Congrats to the author on her original story line and the expansion of powers by vampires, it was a nice addition to the character development and plot.

I wasn’t impressed with part of the story line involving the love triangle, I didn’t find it believable or that it enhanced the story. I thought that the author was trying to attract some of the erotic market with this turn of events but it didn’t play out well, in my not so humble opinion. That said, the sex scenes were the perfect mix of detail – not too explicit not too tame.

I have another book of Ms. Haigwood’s that I will be reading – it’s already purchased and loaded on my Fire and phone – I have high hopes that it will exceed the expectations that Forbidden Touch generated.

I have a more detailed review on my website e-bookbuilders.com

A murder mystery involving the supernatural was not something that was expected when I read the title of the book that I needed to review. I fell in love with the characters and was thrilled to be thrown into a story that led me from one interesting location to another.

Let’s first meet Mitch who is a workaholic cop on a case that has mystified pretty much everyone since it began a month ago. He has been working night and day on the case with no leads as to who is leaving completely drained corpses lying around without any injuries. He cannot wrap his head around how they are losing all their blood. When he succumbs to exhaustion he dreams of a woman. This woman is our leading lady, Asabel.

Asabel is a vampire is a finder. She finds rogue vampires. She has done the forbidden though; she has fallen in love with Mitch. Their story at first is complicated because she watches him while she is invisible and he has no idea and then when they meet it becomes more complicated. The twists and turns and nearly exhausting drama and intrigue kept me glued to page after page of this exciting mystery.

I rated it 5 out of 5.

This is the awesome story of Ciera. She's a vampire and also a finder. It is her job to hunt down rouge vampires and turn them over to the elders to be judged and punished for their crimes. This vampire society has tons of laws. They can't tell humans about their existence and it is death to any vampire that dares to fall in love with a human. So what do you think happens when Ciera meets Mitch, a human detective after the same rouge she is? That's right. She breaks vampire law number one and is forced to flee with Mitch from her family in order to survive while still trying to figure out who the rouge is. Throw in a second vampire who has been in love with Ciera for hundreds of years and a third who wants to use Mitch to overtake the elders and the stage is set. There is enough action and mystery to keep you turning the page just to see if Ciera can get herself out of this mess. I loved meeting Ciera and Mitch and following their struggles to see if they would make it out alive or not.

Forbidden Touch
By K.S. Haigwood

This story is fast moving and full of surprises. We have Detective Mitch Foley who has been having strange dreams of a beautiful woman and a killer that leaves his victim drained of blood. He thinks he is losing his mind because he senses someone there and yet sees no one. Ciera is a vampire whose job is to keep rogues from going wild and destroying human life. She and Mitch are after the same being. Only Mitch doesn’t know it yet and doesn’t know that this killer might be more than he can handle on his own.

The relationship of vampire and human is forbidden . If Ciera steps over the boundary she would be putting them both in jeopardy. It can’ happen, but sometimes when something is so forbidden it is all the more desirable.

Ciera has to help Foley prove his innocence and save him from her jealous vampire want to be boy friend with both the police and vampires searching for them it gets more and more complicated and the only way to find out what happens is read the book.

I really enjoyed this book. It's filled with many twists and turns that always leave you wondering "What could possibly happen next?". Ciera is a 300+ year old vampire who has been watching and secretly helping homicide detective Mitch Foley solve a serial murder case, only Mitch has no clue about Ciera's help. After a month of hiding in the shadows, Ciera is forced to reveal herself to Mitch, putting both of their lives in danger. While on the run from not only the cops who have made Mitch the prime suspect in the very case he's been working, but also from her family that wants them dead, Ciera and Mitch fall deeply in love, discovering that they are soulmates. But can someone have two soulmates? An unexpected turn of events seperates Ciera and Mitch. During their seperation, certain events take place that alter the relationship between Ciera and Mitch and their uncertain future. This is a great story of love, tragedy, and hope. A definite Must Read!

This book is about love, betrayal, lust, friendships, and families. There were so many twist in the books at first Ciera falls in love with Mitch who is untouchable since he is a human. She is a powerful vampire that has the power to be invisible allowing her to go out during the day in her invisible form. Mitch is a detective and gets assigned a rather unusual case. All the victims are drained of blood but there are no cuts on the bodies. Ciera tries to warn him through his dreams and Mitch instantly falls for Ciera just as much as she falls for him. Dane a fellow vampire has loved Ciera for decades tells his family that she is coming close to this human. He does the ultimate betrayal to her while Mitch’s long lost father betrays him even more. Ciera has a hard choice to make when Mitch thinks she’s not the person he fell in love with and Dane is there to hold her hand.

Great take on the vampire genre. Ms. Haigwood does a wonderful job, creating a story that is interesting and characters that come alive. It was a satisfying read with plenty of great moments. The dynamics of the relationship between Mitch, Ciera, and Dane kept me reading to find out what would happen next. Good twists and turns will keep you on your toes. Highly enjoyable.

What I liked about the book:

- The POVs of two main characters. It's good to see things through both Mitch's and Ciera's eyes. I especially liked the fact that Mitch, the male protagonist, had a sense of humour and was so, well, male! I've read so many paranormal romance novels where the female lead is quite whiny and annoying that I found it refreshing to hear Mitch's thoughts. He swears, he's ironic, he eats pizza or some other unhealthy take-away food every night as the typical bachelor detective: it's fun. :)
- The writing. It was clearly edited well, I haven't spotted many typos or grammar mistakes (as so often happens in self-published works, and I always stumble over it).
- The storyline. Admittedly, it's nothing out of the ordinary, but it's just entertaining, and that's what books like these are supposed to do after all!

What I didn't like about the book:

- I didn't feel the romance. At all. I liked Mitch as a character, but I didn't really 'get' Ciera, and so, I wasn't into their relationship at all. To me, it felt like 'insta-love' because I just couldn't see what was so intriguing about Ciera besides the fact that she's drop-dead gorgeous. And I didn't get why she was so attracted to Mitch, besides the fact that HE is a fine male specimen. Hence, I didn't buy the whole 'I'm in love with you' thing in this case. I do realise that for many other readers, this might feel completely different, so I'm not gonna knock off two stars (as I originally planned) just because the characters didn't grab me. It might just be me. But of course, to enjoy a romantic novel, it should feel romantic. :)

Overall, this is a cool book, ideal for the reader who likes Harlequin or Candlelight (as we call it in Europe) romance paperbacks with a bit of urban fantasy/paranormal in the mix. Sure, if people swearing bothers you, this is not your bag. But hey, Mitch is supposed to be a jaded cop. Would they go around shouting 'you rather unpleasant scoundrel', or 'you d** effing son of a b**'? You choose. ;)

What does one do with a fragmented and divided heart? This is a question that Ciera must answer in KS Haigwood's newest paranormal romance, FORBIDDEN TOUCH. Ciera, a vampire, is faced with having to choose between the love she has for her human soulmate, Detective Mitch Foley, the love that breaks all vampire law, and the love she has for the vampire friend she has known for over one hundred years, Dane. A killer is on the loose, and Ciera teams up with Mitch, who is falsely accused of the crimes, to find the rogue she believes is behind the murders and clear his name. The twists, turns, and roadblocks they face along the way present great challenges both to solving the case and to enabling Ciera to make a choice between the two men who love her. The love triangle had me rooting for Mitch, feeling heartbroken for Dane, and thankful that I am not Ciera and therefore in the position to have to choose.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed KS Haigwood's novel SAVE MY SOUL, I anticipated another great read in her second novel, FORBIDDEN TOUCH. Once again, she has created a hero with whom I could easily fall in love. I adored Detective Mitch Foley from the moment he stepped onto the first page of the novel. He was strong, protective, and incredibly gorgeous; yet he's not without his own scars and flaws. Dane was equally as protective and also devastatingly handsome; and although I definitely felt for him, Mitch was the one who won my heart. I found Ciera to be sassy, determined, and enjoyed the human side to this vampire.

If you enjoy paranormal romance, particularly those featuring vampires, I recommend FORBIDDEN TOUCH. So, the question is, would you choose your soulmate, the one law forbids you to love; or would you choose the friend you've cared about and loved for over a century? To find out who Ciera chooses, you will just have to read the book.

Mitch Foley is becoming obsessed with the case he’s working on. His partner Kyle “Lazarus” Lanton has been through a lot (or so it seems). And Mitch is just plain tired. He’s also having some strange nightmares.

Mitch seems to fit into my image of how a bachelor cop lives. I imagine them as eating out a lot, no girlfriend or a recent break up, and not too many friends outside of work. Mitch doesn’t know if he’s going crazy and he feels as if someone is with him even though he doesn’t see them. Now is this because he spends so much time alone or are there other forces at work?

One way to describe Ciera is as a paranormal cop. In her world, she is what is called a Finder and it’s her job to track down Rogues. The difference between Ciera and Mitch is that she’s a vampire and he’s mortal. One of her responsibilities is to make sure that mortals don’t find out about them.

Ciera has a secret that she is keeping from her family. But as a reader of paranormal romance, we know that vampires have talents that make them different from others. It’s also what sets them apart from us humans. Ciera shows us how far she would go for the man she loves. Mitch shows us how far he would go for the woman he loves. The only way you will find out is if you read this book.

I would love to have Ciera around the next time I need to buy a car – I’m just saying. When you read this story you’ll see what I mean and you may wish the same thing. If we actually have any paranormals around, I would want this group of vampires in my corner.

K.S. had me “hooked” right from the very beginning. It’s not your typical vampire romance. And it’s not all about the sex. K.S. has added in a murder mystery as well as suspense. This is what has you turning the pages. I look forward to seeing what her other books have in store for me.

Paranormal romance at its best and with a twist! Totally enjoyed this book. Full of everything you want, need, and expect in a great book. What a nice surprise to have the female lead role, Ciera, to be the supernatural creature, the one doing the overseeing and protecting. You immediately loved Ciera and Mitch, your good looking loner of a cop who's never been in love. And when he finally falls in love, it's with a "make believe" woman in his dreams. A woman who is make believe in no sense of the word, but a very real vampire named Ciera. This book is full of intrigue, mystery, action, love, suspense, just a little bit of everything. I must say a great twist as well at the end that no one sees coming. The love triangle that unexpectedly happens had me intrigued and pist. I just couldn't believe her overnight feelings for Dane, yet at the same time I wanted it to happen too!! Talk about messing with my mind. I really hope there will be a book 2, I need more of the Mitch & Ciera relationship that for obvious reasons in book 1, we couldn't get. Awesome book, highly recommend. Truly enjoyed every single chapter.

I say pleasantly surprised because I believe I got this as a free book. I have actually found a lot of good authors and books this way.

I like the story line and the fact that she is a vampire and stronger yet he wants to protect her. Will do more searching to see if this is part of a series or not, but some of the characters could definitely have their own story. The story moves along at a great pace and the romance seems secondary to the action but is the primary reason for the action.

Authors have gotten very good at what vampires can and cannot do. It has been a good mind opener to follow along with the book and see how it works instead of saying vampires don't do that.

Of course being from Arkansas originally I LOVED seeing familar city names!

This book is definitely worth checking out and I will look forward to other works!

Forbidden Touch was a fun read for me. The multi-faceted characters complimented the fast pace of the story that has more twists and turns than I was expecting. I won't sit here and spoil the plot by disclosing all that happens, but I will say that I laughed, I cried, and I didn't want to put the book down. This one kept me up late, wondering what trouble the three main characters would get into next, and running off into the bathroom with my Kindle to make sure I didn't miss anything. If you like paranormal romance, you will like this story.

The only thing that stood out was the lack of section breaks between character POV's. This was such a minor thing for me though, and didn't take away from my reading experience. I wonder what else is in store for the main characters, and if their story continues. Bumping K.S. Haigwood's other books up my reading list so I can get more!

This book captivated me from the beginning. I've always been a sucker for a forbidden love story and this one did not disappoint me.

There were a few mechanical errors, but the plot line was so compelling i quickly skimmed them.

Ciera's situation was not only believable, but felt entirely realistic. A classic, forbidden love, spiced up with some very intriguing and unexpected twists. Some I'd caught onto early on, but most took me by complete surprise.

It's hard to choose a favorite between Mitch and Dane, but if I had to chose one, I'd say Dane stood out most to me. I will definitely be looking forward to more of this author's wonderful tales. :)

The first part was a bit hard to get through, so many different POV´s and still nothing happpening, but it gets better and easier to read.
Mitch is a detective investigating a serial killer who drains his victims. Ciera is following him, invisibly, since she´s sent by the Elders to find who´s doing these killings. Ciera´s a vampire and not supposed to let anyone know, but she can´t resist to join Mitch´s dreams and try to influence him to solving this case.
A twist or two, vampires and fluffy smut, and an ending you can´t be certain of until it´s there.

This book was a great read. I finished it in one sitting; I could not put this book down. Forbidden Touch is full of suspense and action and keeps you guessing. If you think you know what is going to happen, the author throws in another curve-ball that leaves you wanting more. I read Save my Soul and thought it was wonderful and this book did not disappoint. The characters are well written and I really related to them, I was rooting for a happy ending for the main characters. I am looking forward to more from this author.

I really enjoyed this story and got hooked pretty quickly... It's the first time I have read a story tenuously linked to Twilight, that has put its own twist n the idea. I really enjoyed it and thought the concept was great.

The reason for a 4 is that I did not think it was that original (I do know Twilight like the back of my hand... Ha ha ha)

If you liked Twilight, you'll love this!

Highly recommend it... BTW, the head hopping thing did not bother me at all! :) xx

It moved a little fast in some areas but all in all it was a good story. Not your typical human/vampire love story which was a nice switch up. I actually couldn't put it down. I wanted to read through the entire night but had to make myself put it down.

I am struggling with rating and writing a review for this book. On one had, I loved the premise and the main story arc. It was original and included some of the mystery/crime elements I enjoy in a book. I did not overly connect with the heroines interpersonal relationships, but I rarely understand why people love who they love and reading about people whose relationships baffle me is fun. As a reader, however, I struggled with some of the author's transitions from scene to scene. I have no problem with "head hopping" and having a story go from one person's perspective to another. I actually enjoy it. The problem I had with this book is that it just seemed to happen and I would think I was in one scene coming from one person's perspective and then all of a sudden I realized I was in someone else's head in a different town. I think this could have easily been remedied with some better editing, so I am giving this story a three. I would love to see this book re-released with a slightly different technique. Even those little symbols some authors have been using lately to differentiate between scenes would work.

I had a hard time rating this book, so it's really closer to 3.5 stars. I enjoyed the story, the plot was it good. It had the makings of everything I enjoy. Interesting scenario, complex plot, enjoyable characters. The farther I got in to it the more I started to become disinterested. I love multiple perspective books, but it wasn't clearly defined when you would switch characters. One paragraph you were the heroine, the next paragraph you were her soulmate. You'd figure it out after the first couple sentences in the paragraph, but after a bit it became a little irritating. That wasn't the biggest issue I had with this novel. The characters weren't believable. I'm the kind of reader that needs to have complex, interesting, real characters (regardless if they are human or vampire or whatever). If a woman tells a man, "Hey, your my soulmate and I want to spend eternity with you, but I'm just going to go sleep with this guy over here just this once." No man is going to be okay with that if he actually cares for the woman. It just simple doesn't happen. There was a lot of room for more conflict between the two men warring for the heroine's affection, but it never happened. The ending was equally anticlimactic. There was a huge build up and then it was over in a flash. I was disappointed with the final epic battle. It almost redeemed itself with the small twist at the end, but it wasn't enough for me. I'm not giving up on this author, but I hope to find better character interaction in the next book I read.

Being old enough to remember when vampires wore evening dress and cloaks rather than jeans and eye-liner I have felt a good deal of scepticism towards the modern resurgence of the genre. However with that being said I decided to read this after enjoying 'Save My Soul' by the same author which I thoroughly enjoyed and must confess that I am glad I did. What we have here is a modern take on the classic vampire family tale which actually works.
A mixture of serial killer police drama, romance and vampires might not seem natural bedfellows but in the characters of Ciera, Mitch, Dane and Lazarus the author skillfully crafts a tale which draws you in and doesn't let go until the climactic finale.
A helter-skelter race across the States as a detective framed for a puzzling series of murders and the woman who has haunted his dreams try to escape their fate. Pursued by both the police and dark forces from the realm of the supernatural this is, in essence, a good old fashioned love story which I think would be enjoyed by anyone who gives the book a chance.
Once again I find myself in the position of approaching a book thinking "this really won't be for me" and then coming away from it thinking; That was wonderful!
Once again K.S.Haigwood has delivered the goods and I would heartily recommend the book to you.

I did love this story and I wanted to give this book a better rating because I loved the idea of the story and I loved Save My Soul by this same author. Her writing is terrific and I didn’t have any problems with the story. I had a little difficulty with the flow and the head hopping that took place constantly, especially the ones in the same paragraph. I don’t mind head hopping if there is some sort of transition. A scene break or extra line between would have helped. I kept being pulled out of the story trying to figure out who’s POV we were in and for this reason, I had a difficult time connecting with Ciera and Mitch. I think it all could have worked better if edited differently. There were some unsuspecting twists in the story and I couldn’t wait to find out how it would end. As I read, I found myself connecting more with Dane. Even though there was still head hopping during his scenes, I think he was portrayed better and his emotions were much more heartfelt.

Disappointed. I did get farther in this one than Save My Soul, but had similar issues. The writing is a bit rough and again with the profanity--is it so necessary? This one reminded me of Twilight in so many places, only the main characters were swapped: female vamp, human man, undeniable attraction, her family (and the vampire laws) forbid their love and revealing what she is, which puts them on the run from the vamp 'family'. I would also categorize this as a 'hot' romance. The sex scenes are descriptive.

3 and a half stars because I have many mixed feelings about this book. I really enjoyed the beginning, but quickly got irritated with Mitch. I mean, I loved the passion between him and Ciera, but he was quite angry all the time. I loved the storyline, and found myself taking a liking to Dane a lot more during the story. His change of heart was a little unrealistic, but in the end he became my favourite character. I was so sad to see him go, and I wasn't happy with the ending, but overall it was a compelling story.
