She can't stay in his world—and he can't leave his

Brilliant, driven surgical superstar Caroline Malone is desperate to recover from the injury that threatens to end her career, and she'll try anything that might help her heal—including a rest away from it all in the remote Davis Mountains of west Texas.

Half Latino, half Anglo, Diego Montalvo knows exactly how it feels to have fate change your life. Three years ago he lost men as a Special Forces medic, and almost lost his life. Now back in the valley he left to follow the call of ambition—and feeling a measure of peace at last—he's trying to make a new life combining his Western medical training with the nontraditional ways of his Latino heritage as a curandero or folk healer.

Diego's hard-won peace vanishes when Caroline arrives. He understands her world—once it was all he wanted—and there is much he can teach her…if she'll let him. But if he succeeds in healing her, she'll return to a world that's not the world where Diego is needed…or the one he needs.

Jean Brashear

A letter to Rod Stewart resulting in a Cinderella birthday for her daughter sowed the seeds of New York Times and USAToday bestselling author Jean Brashear's writing career. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she's never been more terrified, she's never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She's an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive 'someday'—take that leap now.

Over fifty published novels later, the five-time RITA finalist and RTBookReviews Career Achievement Award winner has accumulated a whole passel of war stories to swap and loves nothing better than talking writing and books with readers and fellow writers.

And she'd still take that leap, war wounds and all.

Another reliable Texas romance from Brashear. This is the second of three stories about the Sandoval/Sullivan brothers. Rafael is a former Special Forces soldier and medic, who has now taken up the role of curandero along with his grandmother Rosaria.

When Dr. Diana Morgan needs a place to rest and recuperate after an accident damages her right hand, she comes to Rafe's cabin for a month of recuperation. The fact that she might not be able to perform heart surgery again makes her afraid and ill-tempered. When Rafe meets her, he recognizes a kindred spirit - one who needs to heal but cannot, because of emotional wounds, not only the physical ones.

Despite both of them resolving not to become involved, they grow closer and closer. When Diana's hand begins to heal, she runs back to New York and her hospital, patients, and physical therapies. Rafe is broken by her departure even though he always knew that their small town and holistic medical practices would not be acceptable to her. HEA, though, and more gorgeous writing by this author.

Diana Morgan is a cardiac surgeon. She has hurt her hand and is not healing. So her boss has kicked her out. She needs to stay away from all her patients and relax and heal. Rafe Sandoval has gone home to heal. He was in Special Forces and the medic. He failed to save 2 of his men and in the process was told he would never walk again. Two stubborn people who carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. One will stay and one will go home. In order for them to heal, they have to admit they have feelings for each other. But Abuelita tells him to get his act together. Go to her. The answer may be different this time. I just sighed at the end.

Read this as a box set.
Read this series and loved every story.
Raina and Liam’s story was great. She was so proud when life had knocked her down and she knew she had to help herself. Liam wormed his way in and showed her that there is people out there that are real.
Rafe and Diana’s story was awesome too in that Rafe showed her that plans are not set in concrete and can be changed and made better.
Alex and Jades story was a great read in how he battled in ways to protect her when all she needed was love.
Narration was awesome too.

This is a tale of two very different worlds, both of which I could envision, both of which resonated with me at various levels. I like the way the author puts words together – and the way each character views the other as well as how that changes throughout the book. The words (and the sex scenes) are understated but pack a punch.

I was captivated by the characters Jean Brashear created in this book. I'm a fan of Ruby G and family. I fell in love with the people of La Pomona. I can't wait to return.

Haven’t done much reading lately. Not enough time or energy at the end of the day. Since I am on holidays I thought maybe I felt like something even though nothing has been sparking g my interest. Came across this in a wounded hero lost thinking something along those lines might work and I would have to say this one definitely did.

Very solid storyline and character development and although the characters were almost too amazing to be believable it still worked for me because there really are those rare very awesome people out there. I’m just old an cynical now so it’s harder to pull the wool over my eyes especially in a book.

Anyway, Texas Healer was very good and I liked both Rafe and Diana. I would definitely read more for this author.

4 very solid stars from me.

I found Rafe and Diana both damaged physically and mentally. I liked how Rafe tries to give Diana space, yet pushes her. I enjoyed Rafe and Diana's journey to love. I liked Diana she is strong, independent and yet she is vulnerable. I enjoyed watching her grow. Rafe is very stocic, I found him hard to get to know. I enjoyed Texas Healer, but I'm finding this similar to other Jean Brashear's Series.

It was a good book. It was slow and the female character got on my nerves. Wish they went more in depth about the male main characters issues. Also it felt like each of the main characters you only got a service level introduction.

An excellent read

Fantastic writing bring, strong yet broken, in both body and heart, people who thought to remain alone. An amazing cast of characters kept me glued to the pages. Laughter, sorrow, two cultures and different ways meld into one excellent story.

Looking back, I remember being given a box full of books and all of these serial romances being the main option to select from said box. While I was grateful at the time (And still am to this day), each of these books just intermingle in my head, if I can recall anything about them at all. This cover is quite familiar but as for the story inside...? I am just drawing a blank.

Rafael and Diana are on paths of healing. Rafael is further along, but Diana's presence has him reevaluating. Diana is driven and has blinders on where her goals are concerned. Rafael has overcome so much and is a wonderful, caring man. I love the narrator, Eric Dove.
