Fox delivers a wildcat, sharp-shooting heroine in this unforgettable and classic tale of the Old West. Kate, better known as Catastrophe Kate, could out shoot any gunslinger in the West. Montana would never be the same from the moment she rode into the hills with her sites on gold . . . and an unstoppable itch to get rich fast.
The western novels of Norman A. Fox have sold several million copies throughout the world. His works have appeared on motion picture and television screens and have been dramatized for radio. This popularity is founded on Fox's ability to tell a gripping tale, backed by the vitality that comes from his knowing the West through both travel and research. Born in Michigan, Fox has, since early childhood, claimed Montana as his home.
This is a very old-fashioned Norman Fox western that reminds me of a B movie western of that era and it really feels targeted toward a juvenile, or at least a very unsophisticated audience. Saddle pals Rowdy Dow and old timer Stumpy Grampis team up with the Rimrock Kid to save plucky Nan from some masked riders who want to steal her treasure map. His little touches of the west are nice but this smacks of the pulps.
