Right towards the end of lecture by Professor Eric Laithwait on gyroscopes, he mentioned a name that rang a bell and that was Edward De Bono, I recollected that I had one of his books collecting dust. Quickly, I leap towards my book stacks and there it was, Letters To Thinkers: Further Thoughts On Lateral Thinking, a book I was suspicious about and would probably never bother with. But now I was curious, and without fussing any further I lay down and proceeded to do the reading. But my enthusiasm was short lived, or better yet, it diminished gradually as I progressed through the first chapters, every page flipping confirmed my bias.

At the very introduction of the book written by Bono himself, he essentially rants over the negative view that certain reviewers had towards his techniques/methods and goes on to categorize people by what he calls "doers" and "describers", being that essentially describers are drawn towards complexity whereas doers are the "simplicity" driven types. He goes on to praise himself with subterranean remarks exemplifying with how his work has help high ranking employees from mega corporations with problem-solving and how those who didn't find his approach appropriate to be essentially "describers" whom, curiously, at the end of the introduction he calls simple minded.

At this point I'm holding my guard for what might be coming next. Curiously enough, however, his techniques are largely based and discerned from good and respected philosophical and psychological established conjectures and observations, and unlike most self-help authors ( yes this a self-help book) he doesn't seem to water down the original concepts, instead, he tries, so to speak, bundle up everything so as if to forge tools for the purpose of practical use as he himself claims. He states clearly that his purpose is to be practical and simple. And precisely because of that I lost interest towards the fourth chapter. I don't like formulas.

realidad. Necesitamos crear nuevas palabras, no deformarlas, denigrarlas, jubilarlas.
