A one-night stand (with protection!) resulted in a bun in the oven. She’s almost broke, so she swallows her pride and asks him for a little help. First, since he moves in Hollywood circles, he thinks she’s after his money, but realizes how wrong he’s been after only half an hour spent in conversation. So, he agrees to help her.

But a bad experience from his past (his move star, highly pregnant wife didn’t take enough care of herself and died taking their unborn son with her), makes him a little overprotective. Okay, a lot overprotective. He wants her to move in with him, buys her new clothes, a new car etc. All the while informing her that after the baby is born, he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it, because he just can’t get over his grief.

For once, the hero was more stubborn than the heroine, which wasn’t that hard, since she appeared not to have a backbone at all. Kudos to Ben for sticking with his stubborn, pigheaded belief he doesn’t deserve to be happy, because his harpy of a first wife killed herself and their son in her negligence. Warped logic, but it served its purpose. It moved the story forward, made the reader suffer from heavy eye-rollage, and provided the requisite angst in the story.

All in all, the angst did a good job of propelling the story forward, creating a nice backdrop for the budding romance, and both Ben and Tess were so adorable it was a pleasure reading their story.
The only thing that ruined it a little was the rather abrupt ending. An epilogue would’ve been nice.

This was a delightful book to read. I really enjoyed the friendship, and passion between Ben, and Tess.

Ben’s wife died while she was pregnant. He has been grieving his wife, and the child he never got to hold. The day he met Tess, she brought sunshine, and light into his dark world. They shared one passionate night, And Ben was disappointed when he woke up the morning and Tess was already gone.

The book starts out three months later, when Tess knocked on his door to let him know she was pregnant, and he was the father. Ben stepped up to the plate to take care of her. Tess fought him along the way. I really like her independence. She made it clear she just needed a little help, but would not take advantage of Ben’s wealth. Tess had always taking care of herself. She never had anyone to help her before. She felt uncomfortable accepting help.

The banter between the two was perfect. Below are samples of my favorite parts of the book.

Sample: Kissing Ben had felt like two pieces of a puzzle locking together in a perfect fit.

Sample: He couldn’t screw this up. It was almost as if someone was giving him a second shot at this. The chance to keep this child and Tess safe. It wasn’t a responsibility he planned to take lightly.

I think I may have read this, but with a title like The Millionaire's Pregnant Mistress, hmmm.

Nice and ropey, what we have here is a closed off hero,

A one night stand with Tess results in, you guessed it, a baby. Memo: never buy condoms in Romancelandia.

Anyhoo, Ben goes from suspicious to charmed relatively quickly. The story has a nice build up and some charm as the two main characters get together.

This is a very quick read!!! Almost novella, but quite a nice one. I should probably give it four stars, but I think to stick to three.

Another classic blackmail-turn-to-romance story from Harlequin. Definitely predictable yet I can't seem to hate it. In fact I keep indulging myself with this kind of stories and I'm loving it. :) I just wish there's more drama though, and more.. Intense, because basically this one is pretty much the same as others. I do love the writing though. Look forward to read Celmer's other books!

This novel was definitely a keeper. I enjoyed it A LOT! Although the ending was cut short in my opinion. It left some things open that I wanted to see closed. I despise loose ends in a novel. However other than that, the novel was well written and very enjoyable.

After a night of no-strings-attached sexual intercourse, Tess finds out she is pregnant. The father in none other than Ben, millionaire of show-business industry. Neither is necessarily ready, but Ben takes it specially hard, since he hasn't let go of hid past. Nevertheless, he is ready to make sure this baby is born safely and in comfort.

I actually liked the protagonist, Tess, she has spunk and a sharp tongue. She isn't the submissive type who just lets the male co-lead run his mouth and throw stereotypes, insults at her dignity and pride and fantasised judgements at her. She has a childlike joie de vivre, despite leading a hard life.

The male hero, Ben, also shows he's a good guy early on, and the typical jerk act never comes to fruition.

It was a pretty basic story, but an easy read. There wasn't unnecessary drama or over the top sex scenes.

A simple straight forward romance with no major plots or twists. The H is someone big in Hollywood and a widower who lost his son. The H and h have an one night stand and voila she is pregnant - staple harlequin plot. The brooding hero can't get over the loss of his son and doesn't want the baby. They end up living together and then his mom comes in and the h and his mom bond. They live happily ever after.

This one was alright. Nothing crazy or unbelievable, it all seemed very realistic. The biggest draw back was the ending. Just wham bam we done.

Tess MacDonald and Ben Adams had a one-night stand several months ago at the resort where she works, but having been warned that he didn't do relationships, Tess left before morning to avoid heartache. Now, she's pregnant and struggling financially, so she goes to Ben to help once he learns exactly who he is (a Hollywood producer and millionaire). He's disappointed to realize she's a gold-digger who trapped him, but realizes pretty soon that she is in fact poor and needs some support through the pregnancy. Having lost a wife and unborn son already, he's not anxious to put himself in a position to lose something so valuable again. So he concedes that he'll take care of them, but he won't be a part of their lives once the child is born. Not even the love he feels for Tess after a bit will change his mind.

For a Harlquin, this had a decided lack of angsty drama. It was rather refreshing to find that the characters in this book are rather level-headed and not prone to emotional fits. When they get angry, they might brood or raise their voice, but no one flies off the handle. For example, when Tess confronts Ben about her pregnancy, she's really quite understanding about Ben insisting on a paternity test and even understands how he might think she was a gold-digger when she was in fact, requesting financial support. So that was different...good I thought too. The story wasn't boring or even lacking in emotion because of it, it just wasn't OTT. So it was still a good, solid story. What I didn't care for was the lack of grovel or even time to experience the Hero's remorse before the end of the story...and for that matter, what a rushed ending. Suddenly the heroine gives birth, the Hero sees the baby, realizes he loves it, admits his love for both of them and it's over. The hero wasn't an asshole or anything, he had issues to overcome, but I wanted him to realize how much he hurt Tess with his hangups, to realize what he missed out on because of them (in the way of the pregnancy) and to really apologize to Tess. Not just a quick, "I'm sorry." So that was a disappointing aspect.
