I really liked this book. I liked how Annie was portrayed as the antagonist and maybe even crazy, but it is shown that she is really just a little girl.

Is Sarah Slade real???
The book that I read was Genius Games by Narinder Dhami. My opinion of this was that it was kind of suspenseful and different. I thought it was different because it wasn’t anything like I have ever read before. It was suspenseful because in each chapter there was something new to come and you were all ways surprised of what would come. The three main characters of this book are jack, Annie and nicko. Annie is jacks younger sister that really bugs him with her imaginary friend named Sarah. Jack is Annie’s older brother and will stop for nothing to stop Annie’s silly games with her imaginary friend. Nicko is jacks best friend and tries to help jack try to stop Annie’s silly game with her “Sarah”. Jack has to go through all of these obstacles to stop Annie and Sarah so he sees his father. He needs all the help that he can get before time runs out for him. This book is nothing like any other books I have ever read before because you start to actually feel what jack is going through and just feel like you’re in the book.

From Amazon: "Eleven-year-old Jack's difficulties in dealing with his younger sister Annie, a child genius, worsen when Annie claims to have a new friend from the twenty-fifth century and Jack worries that this development will keep him from going to visit his father in America."

Jack has to grow through the book, and that means he starts out making dumb decisions, and being generally annoying in his resentment of Annie. That's the problem with this kind of book. You have to endure the main character while they're really being dumb, until the end when they finally grow up a bit and figure things out.

Also, there were too many illogical things in the story for me to enjoy it much.

Genius Games is an interesting book that focuses on 12 year old Jack, his genius little sister Annie, and her imaginary friend from the future, Sarah. Jack doesn’t believe in Sarah, but when unexplainable things begin to happen, his love-hate relationship with Annie becomes a friendship. I read this book when I was very little and just recently read it again. I think the book is for slightly younger audiences, but I still enjoyed it. It is a cute yet powerful story about friends and family. I’m not sure if I would recommend it to an 8th grader, but I might recommend it to some of my younger friends.

"Genius Games" - written by Narinder Dhami and published in 2001 by Disney-Hyperion. Good story more suitable for older readers.
