I am so grateful that one of my fellow Fans of Interracial Romance group members was willing to loan me this awesome book, because it was absolutely fabulous.
Ok at the beginning of this book I thought it was going to be a big issue about race The heroine Heaven was so sold on having a black man...I kept finding myself saying how about a good man no matter what his race is. However, it took a turn of events when her Hamid got on the same page with there feelings. It was a good book I laughed and was really taken in by the intamacy they shared. I found myself not wanting it to end. I felt like I wanted to know how the move went for them and to go into detail about there baby to come. I liked it alot.
Heaven and Hamid were cute, I will admit that I was a little annoyed with Heaven from time to time, it seemed like she was not willing to sacrifice anything in the beginning. I was like geez can you try to meet the guy in the middle. Nevertheless everything worked out for the best. I will say it took a while for me to feel any real connection with the characters, around 60% I was like okay I can see it now, but before then I couldn’t see it.
I truly hope this turns into a movie I loved it so much I read it like 3 times such a beautiful romance book and the characters were just delightful also I woulndt mind having a Hamid lol
Let me tell you what I appreciated about this book more than anything (btw first time reading your work) you were not lazy at all, you did your research, you connected all the dots and tied up all the ends you made loose.....
You were consistent and thorough with the characters (loved me some Sensei)... the H and h characters were well developed and relevant to the times, their religious persuasions and what was happening in their lives at the time....
The romance was the primary focus.... (I hate when I'm reading a romance book and its almost as if the romance is an after thought or toooo much is going on that it becomes disconnected)… you just kept it growing in leaps and bounds, you allowed them both to own their feelings - even when it was uncomfortable, even when it was disadvantageous to them....
I loved the transition of time... you didn't constrain yourself with writing each day (some authors can really mess that up in my pov), no, you transitioned into and out of weeks and months smoothly - bravo...
Usually I don't like to read about ornery women (like myself) but I really enjoyed 'Heaven'...they were a good balance...
Mrs. Davis out-did herself with this multicultural romance...I thoroughly ENJOY this entertaining ride with Heaven and Hamid...the dialogue is witty, funny and very entertaining...I could not put it down...the fire and passion between Heaven and Hamid just leaps off the pages...DEFINITELY like watching a movie...I so enjoy their HEATED verbal debates as well as their passionate, HOT and STEAMY make-ups...this novel is about more than their cultural and religious differences...it's about Heaven's past hurts and Hamid's male ego and pride...about finding a way to let go of their past issues to find a mutual compromise so they can stay together and both be happy...I ENJOY Heaven's slow transformation throughout the novel from constantly fighting Hamid at every step to FINALLY accepting her fate as his soul mate, yet not TOTALLY giving up the fiery, passionate, and opinionated woman that Hamid fell in love with...I love the closeness of Hamid and his family and the way they accept and make Heaven feel welcome. A HIGHLY entertaining read...you WILL NOT be disappointed!
This was a reread for me from years ago. I just love Hamid and Heaven. They are a true testament to opposites attract. Hamid left his homeland of Pakistan to study receive his medical degree in America. Heaven is a nurse working at the hospital in which Hamid is interning. Their first a meeting, which starts out in a disagreement, is only of many disagreements between the couple that turns into passion for one another. I felt like this couple really connected and it wasn't just about sex. This is a perfect book for anyone looking for a sweet read with a little fire.
I actually almost stopped reading this book because the first couple of chapters was a bit boring for me. I am so glad I finished it though. I didn't actually love the book until the couple went to Pakistan. Loved how his family completely accepted her and their marriage. This was a good interracial romance with no nefarious plots by mad friends or relatives. I loved all the characters, this was a very good book. However, this book needed an epilogue. I really want to know what happens next.
an ambitious black american woman meets an ambitious Pakistani man, and there are fireworks from the beginning, not all of them bad. They learn to appreciate each other while still maintaining their individual beliefs and goals, which gradually become shared by both of them. nice interracial, intercultural romance.
