I've read many different children's devotional/daily meditation books over the years and this is one of the best I've come across. I have always loved Aslan and the other characters from The Chronicles of Narnia, so I was excited to see a devotional book based on that world.
Before I read this book I thought it would be written for little kids (sort of like a picture book), but it is actually more on the reading level of middle graders and up. Of course, this book could be enjoyed by younger children as well, although they would likely need someone to read it to them. I don't see that as a problem though, since I think the best way to enjoy this book or any other children's devotional book is as a family. The daily lessons and prayers are fairly short, so they could easily be read aloud each night, even if your family is pressed for time. The morals and values contained in the lessons make for a great jumping off point for some serious conversations with kids about a multitude of subjects. While the book does obviously have a Christian viewpoint, I did not find it overly preachy or biased to any particular denomination.
