It sees the real focus of forgiving not in individualistic release from guilt and proof of goodness, but in inter-personal reconciliation, wholeness and life together in Christian community.
This is the 3rd of 4th time I've read this classic on forgiveness. Of all the books on this topic I've read, this is the best. Although I may disagree with a few of the author's comments, Augsburger is to be congratulated for not assuming, as some authors do, that forgiveness is easy, or that people should be forced to forgive prematurely. I appreciate the author's honesty. Highly recommended.
Excellent book. Even though it's my first full-length book on forgiveness, I've seen and heard a lot of material on the topic. This author is light-years ahead of anything else I've ever found on the subject.
The book's strength is in the ideas. The author doesn't always have comparably good material supporting and explaining the ideas, but if you get the key point that's not a problem.
