About the author

Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

En los Color Walk aparecen los Color Spread a color. Es interesante ver los colores que Oda tenía pensados para algunos outfit y personajes. También aparecen bocetos de la obra, algunos que evolucionaron y salieron a la luz y otros que quedaron en el tintero.

Mi parte favorita ha sido la entrevista. Esta vez con Motoo Abiko, autor de Ninja Hattori. Hemos podido ver más de la opinión de Oda sobre el dibujo y conceptos de su infancia. Así como de Abiko.

Una frase que se me quedó fue una que Oda dijo que no dibujaría nada con lo que no se sintiera cómodo. La cual comparto totalmente, no solo en el dibujo y el manga sino en cualquier otra expresión de arte o incluso en la vida.

Recomendado si te gusta One Piece.

Very nice, decent sized artbook. Those that are not interested in One Piece or Oda's previous works will probably find the art style a little bit on the odd side of your typical manga and Japanese artistry. The different colours, landscapes and characters make for a fresh blend of originality that can only be found in the One Piece World. Unique animal ideas and plants are a treat for the eyes, as I find myself remembering how One Piece will always be my favorite thing to ever come out of Japan, after the Katana.

Took out a star because I was hoping for a bit more written tibits of information but alas it didn't sate my desires. Wondrous book, so ecstatic that I got this for my birthday.

YEAH! It makes me wish that the manga was in color as well... We are missing out as the non-japanese!
