Excellent book for readers! My 5 yr old loved this book! Somewhere between a level 3 and 4 reading book, it's all about a young girl going up in space to color a picture of the earth from far away. The nice thing about this one is the excessive detail Getz goes into about what it's like to go up in space. From the wearing diapers, to taking off, the sounds, the smells, anti-gravity, getting sick, to shooting stars. My son was fascinated with every page. Too long for my preschoolers, but a great book for any kid who loves science or is interested in learning more about space.
Eight-year-old Maxine’s art project is an assignment to look at her home in a new way and to draw what she sees. So she travels to Kennedy Space Center in Florida where she rides on a space shuttle to draw her picture . . . and makes an amazing discovery.
Young readers will find Maxine’s journey entertaining as they learn some basic facts about space travel. There’s a great deal of space science information packed into Maxine’s story, making it perfect for readers interested in astronauts, space travel, and science. Colorful illustrations support the informative text.
This is about the adventure an eight-year-old girl has to go into outer space. This could be used to begin talking about space, what students want to be when they grow up, or even just what adventures they've been on. Or just for having in the classroom for the sake of it. Good book for little sci-if readers.
The assignment for art was to look at your home in a new way and draw what you see. So, Maxine hops aboard a space shuttle. The text describes all the preparations she must make - including wearing a diaper.
This was an alright book. I like how it gives information about astronauts and what they wear. It also describes the space shuttle and such which is great. I think that children will enjoy this story.
A little grade school girl is given the assignment to draw her house from a new perspective. So - of course - she goes into space to draw it from there. An awful lot of words for this story. Even Asher (6 y.o.) had a hard time keeping focused.
Children will get a sense of what it's like to be an astronaut in this well-written story. The illustrtions, acrylic on cel vinyl, add a lot of information to the story.
