Tribes: A battle against hate and white supremacy in rural America. James Beck Crime Thriller Series, Book 4

Rate this book
United we stand.
Divided we fall.
And we will always be divided.

Sitting under the stars sipping good Irish whiskey in an out-of-the-way watering hole in upstate New York, ex-con James Beck thinks that leaving behind Covid and the conflicts surrounding him in Red Hook, Brooklyn had been a pretty good move. Until he steps between a gutsy little woman standing up to a local thug. Beck puts the tough guy on his knees with a single punch, but it’s enough to ignite a devastating spiral of violence.

Beck is suddenly fighting for his life against a vicious white supremacist gang known as the Kin. Their ruthless supreme leader, Camdyn Dent, believes he and the Kin have the right to exploit anybody they deem inferior in any way they choose without a shred of remorse. Those who dare oppose them face torture and death.

Beck reaches out to his loyal group of fellow ex-cons for help. It means going to war against an untold number of heavily armed fanatics on their home ground, protected by fellow gang members in local law enforcement.

Can Beck and his few brave men prevail? Only if he unleashes the seeds of destruction hidden in the hate filled hearts of his enemies.

TRIBES – An action-packed trail of twists & turns in upstate New York

I’ve been a fan of John Clarkson’s crime thriller novels for many years now, especially his popular James Beck series with James’ loyal crew of ex-cons (Manny, Demarco and Ciro), so I was eagerly awaiting his new Book 4 in the series called TRIBES. I loved spending time with James’ crew again, this time fighting a gang in upstate New York terrorizing the locals. John is an engaging storyteller who shows he cares deeply about his James Beck crew as they struggle to survive an action-packed trail of twists & turns to defeat the bad guys and save the locals. While I wait for his next Book 5 and dream of a streaming series adaptation, I’m now going to read his first 3 James Beck books again: AMONG THIEVES, BRONX REQUIEM and DEATH COMES DUE.

Another great story by John Clarkson. I've bought and enjoyed all of his books. This one had a surprising amount of misspellings which is hard to believe in the age of spellcheck.

Outstanding; Continuing character: James Beck; Beck lands himself on the radar of a white supremacist group and is framed for a killing; when the violence ramps up, he brings together his “tribe” to fight back and ultimately try and take down the group
