I do not think the card interpretations are very well done in this book. There a much better, richer, and accurate reference books than this one.

So my mom really read me the riot act when she found out I'm attempting to learn tarot, which isn't exactly in alignment with my semi-Baptist upbringing. If you're also thinking right now that tarot "is the debil" (to quote Bobby Bouche's mama), hold up and keep an open mind for just a second. Tarot isn't black magic and does not even require any sort of actual psychic powers. In fact, it's a whole lot of memorization and a healthy dose of some good old fashioned intuition (which we all need to learn to tap into a whole lot more). In fact, tarot readings are an excellent way to get a person through tough times and impart some wisdom and encouragement onto them. If the cards indicate some kind of trouble ahead, you can help the querent see the lessons behind the turmoil and remind them that there is light at the end of the tunnel...

As far as this book specifically, I'm honestly not sure how it compares to other tarot reference books as this is the first one I've read; however, it was easy to follow and I liked how it broke the cards down with more detail in one section and then a much more condensed, summarization in another section. The practice layouts were great also, but I wish sample answers would have been on the back of each one.

All in all, I definitely learned a lot here. ☆☆☆☆

TO BE CLEAR: I browsed this book simply to create a simple card shuffle game through a computer program, as a sample project. The book itself explains the different cards in a tarot deck.

I always thought tarot reading was an art reserved for mystics and fortune tellers, people who possess that innate gift of intuition that can’t be taught but instead is nurtured as it is passed down through the ages. I must admit, it was something I was a little wary of, and I found the thought of someone looking into my soul, delving into the unknown, and foreseeing what fate lay ahead in my future just a little terrifying. What would they see? What if they turned over that infamous death card or foresaw some formidable omen?

It wasn’t until I was given Step-By-Step Tarot as an EQA project I realised that Tarot reading is a skill that can be learned like any other, by anyone who wishes to engage in the medium, and can be used to give guidance to those who wish to achieve greater fulfilment in their lives.
