About the author

Diane Muldrow grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She later attended Ohio University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Magazine Journalism and a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts: Dance. After her graduation, Diane moved to New York. She spent several years performing as an actress and dancer in New York’s downtown avant-garde performance scene. She also danced in a performance at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and had her own one-woman shows.

Diane has also had a successful career in publishing, both as an editor and as an author. She has written over 100 books for children. Diane lives in Brooklyn, New York, where she enjoys trying new recipes and eating in local restaurants.

A fluffy plot, the type of stories you would go read during busy hectic days. full of lessons in a bright simple way. definitely suitable for kids & young adults, but it feels like it's missing some details; I wish if the writer utilized the necklace incident in a more exciting way, also to elaborate more on the side characters and their perspectives and parts of the story, like Natasha and the letter that her father wrote for Ms. Barlow's; what was her reaction to it, of course she must have had something to say not just give the girls the money instantly like nothing had happened! something was incomplete, and the same thing happened with Shawn; her behaviors were ambiguous and it felt like she didn't get enough attention.
it was - however- a fine story & i loved the " Dish amazing cookbook " at the end of it, that was lovely & neat.

Do you like to cook? This is an awesome fiction book about a group of girls that formed a group to cook and earn money. I think this book is really good for people that like to cook, because it's all about these girls cooking, and the recipes that they make.

A young group of girls, Peichi, Shawn, Amanda, Molly, and Natasha are in New York, in cooking class. They wish they had something else to do, because cooking class is only once a week. They started cooking for people around the neighborhood for money. The problem was, that Shawn had left to North Carolina for the Summer, and Molly and Peichi were grounded for sneaking out to Chinatown. Amanda and Natasha couldn't do all the work themselves because they were getting tons of orders! The conflict was basically person vs. person because Amanda and Natasha were getting many orders and complaints, which created a mess in their kitchen, and even in their business!

The third person point of view affects the story because it gives certain information on how each character felt. There were many different emotions that these girls had. All of them were really sad because their good friend, Shawn was heading off to North Carolina to be with her family for the summer. The girls also had many different emotions when Molly and Peichi got grounded when they were caught sneaking out to Chinatown. Natasha wasn't really part of the group, but she only agreed to help Amanda cook because Amanda got Justin (the boy they like) to cook with them! Amanda also got many different emotions here because when they were in their kitchen, Justin was messing everything up, and Natasha wouldn't quit looking at him! Amanda felt very frustrated, because people wouldn't pay them, and they needed to make much more dinners, and it was impossible with Justin and Natasha! I think that Peichi changed, from her experience from Chinatown. When Molly and Peichi snuck out to Chinatown, they went into her grandparents old antique shop. They were just looking around, until they came across a grayish yellow-green gemstone called a Jade. Peichi put it in her pocket, which worried Molly because it looked like she was stealing it, and it would be really bad especially since it's from Peichi's grandparent's store. When Molly, Amanda, and Peichi were at Peichi's house, Peichi's grandma asked Peichi all kinds of questions and ended up finding out that Peichi was the one that stole the jade. After she got grounded, she changed into always telling the truth because if you lie, it has consequences after it.

If I were the author, I would have included more emotions on how these characters felt. I think there were many events in which each character should have reacted more to. An interesting thing I learned about this is that you shouldn't lie, or keep anything away from people because it can hurt someone else, and yourself. I thought the ending of the book was really good because they gave Natasha a second chance to be officially part of their business.

My rate for this book would have to be 4 out of 5 because it was a good book, but I think that they should have added more to the story. I would recommend this book to a friend who is younger, or in elementary because it was a really easy book, and not very high vocabulary. A young cook, or a person who wants to become a cook, would be a great person to enjoy this book.

Did you ever wanted to cook?This books genre is friendship because their trying to cook and keep being friends at the same time.''I wish cooking was easy for we can get this over with and be finished'' said molly.I think molly says that because she wants to finish cooking but, if you want the food to taste good you have to take your time in order for it to be good.
The setting in this story is in the Moore's because they cook in their they have never cooked anywhere but their house.Molly and Amanda and their best friends-Shawn,Peichi.They love to hang out and cook together.But when the chef girls start getting more clients their business get really complicated.Peichi and molly go to chinatown by themselves to peichi grandparents shop.Peichi and molly find a antique necklace.Molly tells peichi to show it to her grandparents to see if she can keep it or not but, peichi doesn't show it to her grandparents she promised molly she'll show it to her later.The conflict in this story is person vs person because according to the author, Natasha hids from the girls.Natasha only came back when amanda told her that justin was going to be their and she asked if she can go over too.The theme of this story is nervous because the girls are nervous by getting a lot of clients or not getting a lot of clients and not be able to buy food and losing money.The girls also get nervous because they think the clients might not like the taste of the food.
The third person's point of view affects the story because if Diane the author, didn't use third person and used first person the book might have been complicated to read and understand.The title boiling point relates to the book because the girls start boiling with clients everyday they get at least 3 clients and the clients ask for a lot of food.Also, because the girls attitude starts to boil up they get a little mean and a little selfish.
I was surprised when natasha wanted to be back on the cooking business just because amanda told her that justin was going to help out.My favorite part about this story is when the girls got in trouble because they went to chinatown by themselves and Mr.McElory think robbers use the shop to hid things they steal and he is going to send two undercover cops to pretend to be shoppers to catch the robbers.
I rated this book 5 stars because the author tells us a lot of details and leaves pictures to let us understand what is happening in the story.Which does help me understand what's happening.I will recommend this book to those who will like to read friendship and at the same time cooking because this book is interseting i never knew i would like this book because i judge the book by its cover.Well know you know what this book is about.Will you cook someday like these girls?

Liburan musim panas kali ini, si kembar Molly dan Amanda Moore, Shawn dan Peichi sudah memiliki rencana seru untuk mengisi waktu. Yup, bisnis masak, yang mereka beri nama Dish. Berawal dari hobi masak dan suka kumpul bareng, mereka berempat akhirnya memutuskan untuk serius menjalani bisnis masak tersebut dan mulai menerima banyak pesanan. Awalnya semua berjalan lancar, namun tiba-tiba semua hal berbalik menjadi sesuatu yang tidak diharapkan dan kacau-balau.

Novel ini merupakan novel ringan yang karakter tokoh-tokohnya cukup unik. Cocok dibaca oleh para remaja karena berisi banyak sekali pesan moral tentang persahabatan, sosial dan keluarga. Juga mengandung pengetahuan tentang memasak dan bisnis masak kecil-kecilan yang bisa dijalankan oleh anak-anak berusia 11 tahun ataupun remaja.

This juvenile book (ages 7-11), reminded me a lot of the Babysitter's Club series. This is the third in a series, and is about a group of girls who decide to create a catering business. While also flavors of Sweet Valley High because of the identical twins as main characters, I found it less vapid and more engaging.
My favorite Babysitter's Club book happened to be one with a main character who enjoyed baking. I felt I had a lot in common with that character, but I didn't find any other books along that line. For that reason, this series resonated with me.
