His Majesty, M.D.

"Being engaged is the perfect way to avoid getting married."
-- Prince Nicholas Dumont

Prince Nicholas Dumont's royal relations were forever trying to marry him off to this princess or that heiress. But their latest choice -- a shy, awkward American billionaire's daughter, more interested in computers than in men -- was a disaster. And that made her the perfect "fiancee."...

A fake engagement to this "ugly duckling" would let him return to his first love -- medicine -- and would surely never go anywhere. Except...Tara York was turning into a swan -- a confident, sensual, extremely desirable woman -- before his very eyes. And suddenly, he was aching to truly make her his princess....

Leanne Banks was born on 14 May 1959 in Roanoke, Virginia, USA. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology, which she claims she can only use on fictional characters. When her first book was published in 1991, she used the money from her advance to take her family to Disney World.

Leanne is known for telling a story with strong emotion, characters with whom everyone can relate, a kick of hot sensuality, and a feel-good ending that lingers. She believes in creating stories for her readers that will allow them to escape into a place filled fun, emotion and sensuality. She believes that she has the best readers in the world because they understand that love is the greatest miracle of all.

Leanne is the recipient of Romantic Times Magazine's career-achievement awards in Series Sensuality and Love and Laughter, and her books have been recognized by the Award of Excellence Contest, the Romance Writers of America RITA Award contest and the National Readers' Choice Awards. She is grateful for awards and reviews and was particularly moved by a letter from a reader remarking that Leanne's book got her through a chemotherapy session. The reader's letter inspired a favorite turn of phrase: Never underestimate the power of a romance novel.

Leanne lives in her native Virginia with her husband, two teenage children and a Pomeranian. She also has a little condo in South Carolina where she writes in the off-season. She loves music, chocolate, quotes, and new adventures.

I enjoyed this book. Prince Nicholas' family has been trying to marry him off and Tara York's father was trying the same. Nicholas is a Prince and doctor and Tara is the daughter of a billionaire a computer genius but together they try to dupe their parents into thinking they've made the perfect match by pretending to be engaged. However, things get interesting when they accidentally, and unexpectedly fall for each other.

As I've said earlier, it was the cover art of this book that did me in for this continuity. Muy delicioso!

And the book didn't disappoint either. I already enjoyed Nicholas's appearances in Michel's story. He was funny man Nick in that book. But I guess it was only natural for his character to morph into a more serious version of himself in his own book. And yet, he didn't lose his sense of humor.

And Tara was some character trying to fight off the attraction to the young and book version of McDreamy--with the hair to match. And wearing ugly oversized clothes and thick eyeglasses to make herself as unattractive to him as possible was a nice move. But being the smart guy he was, Nicholas saw through all that.

Even if they both agreed to pretend that they were engaged (so he can practice his medicine and she can finish her online university course), he couldn't help being attracted--and falling--for her. And when they were forced to marry after some pictures of them taking a late night swim were taken, I couldn't help but laugh at Nicholas's reaction.

And this McDreamy version also had a way with words. Check these out:

"You remind me of everything good I want to be."

"Tara, I want to make all your wishes come true."

Wipe the puddle that is me on the floor right now.

Had a lot of potential, and I liked both the hero and heroine, but the hero was such a blind and selfish ass in the last quarter that he kinda blew it for me, and the groveling wasn't sufficient.
