Scarlett Harper hasn’t been home in years. And she’s about to come face to face with the last person she ever wanted to see. When she unexpectedly finds herself back in Lupine Valley, she never thought she’d run into her ex-boyfriend, and the man she had planned a future with before it was taken from her. Preston West had just taken over the town’s medical practice and had been hoping that fate would bring Scarlett back into his life. Just one more time. A second chance with her is all he needs. Struggling to figure out her next career while living back at her mother's, in her childhood room none the less, Scarlett has no other option but to accept an offer to work with Preston. Memories of the moment that altered their future can’t help but resurface, and it seems she doesn’t know everything. When the past comes back around a second time, everything is different. Scarlett is determined to change things. Second chances aren’t always as easy as they seem. Will they get their chance at a happily ever after they’ve always dreamed about?
I read this in three sittings--I didn't want to put it down! It's funny and sweet, and populated with a cast of characters that are maddeningly and delightfully human.
Scarlett and Preston are the perfect second-chance romance: the things that separate them are youthful mistakes and moments of arrogance, not major personality conflicts. I loved watching them grow from those mistakes and become the people they needed to be to work as a couple.
Between their siblings, their parents, the people who live in Lupine Valley, and a deliciously cruel villainess, Hutchison created a little universe that I was happy to step into for a few afternoons--one I'll gladly return to for future books.
There were moments when I laughed out loud, and oodles of sweet moments between the main characters that made me grin. The book delivers everything you'd expect from a small-town romance.
This was a fun debut, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!
I received an ARC of this book, and am leaving this review honestly and voluntarily!
Aww what a beautiful second chance romance , I just couldn’t help but fall in love with this story. Preston and Scarlett are two souls made solely for each other. It’s a truly amazing book and I had a wonderful time reading it. I liked that there was a tad bit of drama it made the book more enjoyable as well as the fact that they always stood up for each other when someone tried to belittle the other person.
Duke was so cute and I liked how he was always so overexcited to see Scarlett. I really liked the fact that Preston and Scarlett were still in love with each other even though time went by. Scarlett’s mom and Addy were great additional characters as well as Colton. I enjoyed that the relationship development between the main characters was not rushed and that they took their time to get where they wanted to be.
This is my first read by J Hutson and it most definitely won’t be the last. If you’re looking for a sentimental sweet second chance this one is definitely worth it.
I just love wholesome love stories! That is what you will get when you read this lovely story.
Preston and Scarlett are such a perfect couple. Their love story, the second chance love story, was just so beautiful. I love when couples find their perfect match.
I was worried about Preston at first with the prologue when it explains what happened to them in the past but I was very happy things were not what they seemed. Also with Preston’s family, I liked getting that side of the story, normally it is the MFC that has the overbearing family that doesn’t approve of anything, but getting that from his family was a change that I enjoyed. Though I did not enjoy his family lol.
I adored Scarlett. She has moments here and there that I just did not agree with but I loved how those moments helped her grow into the woman everyone see’s her as.
I cannot wait for the other books in the series so I can get more of these two! . . . 4️⃣.5️⃣⭐️ 🌶️🌶️ 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 9/10 recommendation‼️
This book is a heartwarming story of love, vulnerability, and second chances. Preston's genuine desire to make amends with Scarlett after his mistakes is truly touching, and I loved how he wasn't afraid to show his emotions. Scarlett, despite being hurt, showed immense compassion by helping him professionally, a refreshing twist that made her character even more endearing. Her immediate defense of both Preston and Colton, especially when she stepped in to support Colton despite her own discomfort, revealed just how deeply she cared for those around her. The small, poignant touches, like the homages to Scarlett's late father and the wildflower field, added depth to the story, while the humorous meddling of her family provided lighter moments. Although the sudden shift in their professional boundaries felt a bit rushed, this is a minor issue in an otherwise delightful and emotional journey about love, forgiveness, and personal growth.

This was the sweetest debut novel I read so far this year. Each character had a part to play and I loved how they supported Scarlett and Preston.
LORD. These two! I really enjoyed the chemistry that they had. They both had flaws that got in their way, but they finally gave each other a chance which led to a sweet story. There is also a sweet dog! I really enjoyed this book and it is everything I need about a small-town romance!
I was honored to beta-read this story and my heart is full reading the advanced reading copy. This is the start of a sweet small-town romance that you do not want to miss and I can’t wait for the others!
Please check out this sweet small-town romance and the following ones on June 21 on Kindle and kindle unlimited!
A huge thank you to @author.jhutchison for an ARC copy of the book for review! X
Everything I Need is a beautiful second chance, small town romance and is J’s debut novel!
Preston and Scarlett had a great relationship until something tore them apart. Years later they reunite in Scarlett’s hometown where Preston has just bought a doctor’s practice and Scarlett is returning home after leaving a toxic job. After all the time they were separated, they still harbor strong feelings for each other but the misunderstanding and conflict from their past still lingers.
This is filled with some lovable (and not so loveable) family side characters and definitely leaves some great teasers for what’s to come. If you love a sweet and steamy second chance romance this is a great one to dive into.
This was such a beautiful story. I absolutely loved Preston and Scarlett's story. Their characters were well done. They were the perfect couple and were absolutely perfect for each other. Even though so much time had passed between them, their love for each other never faltered and they really got their second chance. I enjoyed the supporting characters and Duke the dog was such a sweet addition.
Seriously such a sweet story and a wonderful job for a debut novel. Definitely recommend reading this. I can't wait to read the next book.
What a beautiful second chance love story for this author's debut. A classic case of miscommunication for these two but this time the truth just might come out. I loved the setting of Lupine Valley and the dog. I enjoyed the other characters even a meddling mother, and supporting siblings who I hope will appear in their own stories. I would say give this new author a chance and take a journey to Lupine Valley.
[dnf @ 34%] i find the execution rather unbelievable to be honest. with how much the characters are "professing" their love for each other when they were younger, i think that the heroine not giving any chance to listen to what the hero had to say about the incident just felt off. i mean if you really love somebody that much, i think the least she could do is listen? but she just ran away from the whole thing and move to another state, kind of disappear or something.
Scarlett and Preston were college sweethearts when a misunderstanding tore them apart. Now Scarlett moves back home where Preston is the local doctor and they are drawn back together. This is a quick read with likable MCs.
Preston and Scarlett’s story warmed my heart. I loved the college back story to the current day. Having a glimpse into all the sister’s lives after reading book 4 first was just what I needed. Can’t wait to dive into book 2.
I wanted to DNf but I gave it a real try. I couldn't find anything realistic about this book. The way every single person communicated would never happen in real life. It was a decent plot and that's about it.
Preston and Scarlett's love story is my favorite of the series so far. I have read 3 of them.
Their second chance was not easy, but they worked diligently to overcome the obstacles. Their chemistry was hot. Reading this book, I felt it all...I felt anger, sadness, love and happiness. I recommend the Lupine Valley series to everyone!!!
A sweet read but lots of little editor errors that became distracting. Characters development was rushed with changing moments that lacked description and depth.
