I looooooove this book. I had no idea that such a nice bonsai book existed! It's so very informative and has so many gorgeous picture of every type of bonsai you could imagine. It makes me want one of each and one of each color of the flowering types.

Still a few things I'm not clear on- how exactly do you plant on slate? Where would the drainage go? But overall a great book with beautiful pictures.

As I skim through my book shelve, I reminisce about subjects and hobbies that once were but no more. Caring for and grooming trees into Bonsai was a great activity that unfortunately lost its charm after a few years. Great book for beginners, this book is good but nothing that can't be learned with a youtube video nowadays.

not a bad introduction...but then it lacks when it comes to details about trimming and such.

A good reference book; has a large section of pictures and succinct info on growing, sizes, maintenance, forms, etc all in one place. Addition sections on growing, propogating, caring for, wiring, trimming, etc, but these are shorter than in some other books I've seen. Still, I love all the quality pictures and succinct info.
