Wayne Jordan has been reading authors’ bios for years, and often dreamed of having his own Web site as a published Harlequin author. Parts of this story were really enjoyable and other parts seem to drag along. But for wealthy and intelligent entrepreneurs, Shayne and Carla's "meeting for the first time" actions were quite irresponsible.
Carla has lost everything and just wants to start living again. A fun week turns into so much more. Her journey with Shayne is endearing! #readingandreviewingchallenge
As a fan of the author's, I've wanted to read his Knight Trilogy for a while. I knew it would be a wonderful read, but was totally blown away at the beautifully written first story in the series. One Gentle Knight introduces us to Shayne Knight, wealthy and influential Barbados sugar cane plantation owner, and Carla Nevins, owner of a chain of travel agencies in Virginia. Both are taking a much-needed holiday to de-stress and to also forget haunting past sorrows.
I thoroughly enjoyed Wayne Jordan's amazing storyline, the well-developed characters (main and supporting), vivid descriptions, and the powerfully sensuous love scenes. Those love scenes, written from the male perspective, yet endearing to the female reader, gave me a couple of nights of Knight-dreaming. His plot's climax and resolution were heart-pounding and endearing and elicited tears. Kudos to Wayne Jordan. Now on to book two.
"Barbados sugar plantation owner Shayne Knight fantasizes about escaping into the arms of a beautiful stranger—and lovely, sensual travel agent Carla Thompson is the answer to his secret desires. When he's called away suddenly, he vows to return to the island hideaway they shared and turn their no-strings affair into something more. But he's too late—. Carla awakens, blissful and in love, and discovers Shayne is gone. She's hurt, mad and outta there. Soon she discovers he did leave her something besides memories. She's pregnant! But to claim the man and the love that was meant to be, she'll have to discover paradise all over again."~~~~~~~This is the first novel I've read by Mr. Wayne Jordan and the first romance novel I've read by a male author. I will definitely have to back-track and read more of his work. KUDOS to Mr. Jordan, he has a wonderful gift and I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic tale. He definitely captured the romance and excitement of Barbados, I couldn't put the book down until I was finished. The passion and heat between Carla and Shayne was extremely HOT, yet it had an endearing tenderness to it. The secondary characters only aided in giving more depth and understanding to the very likable main characters. Reading about Carla and Shayne's love affair was like watching a very entertaining movie filled with beautiful Caribbean scenery, and an unending supply of romance and well written dialogue. Looking forward to reading more about the Knight family and their friends.
I adored the exotic, Barbodos setting - it seriously did just take me away.
The dialogue was really quite stiff and unbelievable - I'd get Shayne's life story with his friends when we only needed a sentence. But apart from that, the story telling was good, it was very easy to follow and straight to the point. A few mistakes too, but aside from that, I adored the believable characters (although almost every single character had a 'stubborn' set of something in their appearance.) Very enjoyable, just an easy, good read. And this is the second time I've read it. I don't think I'll continue the series but this novel is quite good. Enjoyable!! And the sex scenes weren't too bad either ;)
I finished this book in 5 hours because I could not put it down. This book was really good it is so refreshing to read a romance novel from a male point of view Shayne was written was accurate because of the author Wayne Jordan. The love story between Carla and Shayne was so sweet it was a pleasure to read, light, romantic , sexy I loved it and look forward to reading more of the Knight Family.
Paradise was certainly in the eyes of the beholder as Shayne Knight and Carla Nevins connect in paradise. The meeting of two lost souls for the same but different reasons. Beautiful story of finding a love and recovering a soul after devastating loses.
That Shayne Knight is one tough alpha cookie to crack but Carla had his number. I love a great romance that is in international waters. A sugar plantation owner and a traveling sales associate meet while she is in town and explosions spark. What happens next is combustible. In the end, what a family.
