Mrs. Smith has done it AGAIN...she can write a romantic suspense like nobody's business...I was CAUGHT UP from beginning to end...the storyline is ENGAGING and the cast of characters are COLORFUL and memorable...I LOL, cried, sighed and cheered as I turned the pages of this thrilling romantic mystery...Rafe Santiago is CAPTIVATING and sexy-as-all-get-out...DEFINITELY ANY woman's fantasy man...the conflict and drama that the characters, (main and secondary) struggle with makes this novel even more compelling and ENTERTAINING...another ENJOYABLE read!

Came for the romance stayed (literally) for the investigation.
The romance was disappointing, the H's literally a walking redflag, and I couldn't buy their love for each other + the pacing was so weird that it made their love even more unbelievable
And don't get me started on the investigation!! too many plot holes, and the first time the killer was mentioned, I knew they were the culprit but hoped it wasn't that predictable. Firstly, it was obviously them since they were the last person in the whole city who could still hold a grudge against the victims. And secondly they interrogated every name that came up besides them. I was literally flabbergasted when the h mentioned them and never spoke about them again, didn't go speak to them when I'm almost certain it's one of the first things you're supposed to do.
But the writing was still good, and even though I wasn't a fan of the execution the concept was cool, so I will try other works by the author in hopes that I will have a better experience.

I love a romance mystery. From the moment Agents Rafe Santiago and Korrine Friday met there was major sparks. Even her niece Julia noticed it when she was in their presence. Her niece is one of the joys of this novel.

A secret cult organization is killing their members who are planning to expose their dirty deeds-everything from illegal land deals to murder. Rafe and Korrine of the FBI are assigned to investigative these murders. As tensions brew, all is exposed including Rafe's grandfather connection to the head of major Mexican mafia, Korrine's social climbing mother and her murderous husband to the real reason five people died. It all came down to the killing of Hayley Morrissette. It was a great twist that I didn't see coming. Another reveal was Rafe's cop cousin Paulo relationship with the murder victim.

In the end Rafe and Korrine got their HEA. Korrine finds love and family, Rafe finds love and peace.

Loved this book!

Great plot and back story. Characters are pretty well developed. Not many love scenes but they really aren't needed and the ones that happen sizzle. I love the way this author tells a story and unlike some other books there aren't many typos which, for me, is a plus. I don't write many reviews so for you to be reading this speaks volumes.

Great book

I love Maureen Smith's suspense books! I would recommend them to anyone who likes a good suspenseful romance along the same lines as Julie Garwood's contemporary books

Great suspense and romance!

This was a great read, I didn’t want it to end. I normally only read romance, but the suspense in this book was really good as well.

New Favorite!

This one might be my favorite of the Romantic Suspense! I loved the mystery even more than the romance. Finding out the killer caught me by surprise a little! I loved the way Rafe and Korrine's story ended! Another great story from Smith!

I thought this book was absolutely on time and needed. I'm starting to get bored with the current and abundant Billionaire baby momma stories. This one gave me life. FBI Agent Friday had me right away. Korrine was my kind of character, strong, butt kicking and bullheaded at times. Rafe the boss and possible interest was perfect. The story had me wanting more. I was shocked at the ending not expecting that but that's what made this book good. Attention to detail allowing each person a story which was fluentlay told. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book. It was clear that Korrine and Rafe had chemistry from looking at each other from across the parade. The story unfolded nicely, and the suspense held. I enjoyed Korrine's relationship with her niece and glad that she was able to have one with her sister and mom.
