Sombra Demons #5

Claimed by the Creature

Rate this book
I’m used to getting all sorts of fan mail — but a spellbook?

After an in incident on tour leaves me cooped up in my penthouse apartment, on vocal rest for the unforeseen future, with only my grumpy pet cat for company, I’m desperate for a distraction.

At my manager’s suggestion, I do something I haven’t done in ages: I go through my fan mail. There was enough of it to keep me occupied… but I only get through one bag before I find a package addressed to me.

To me. Not my stage name. Not the name I’ve gone by since I was sixteen, but my real name.

Color me intrigued

There’s a book inside, an old leather-bound book that has me curious. Inside? There’s something called a ’true love’ spell that, in a whisper since I’m not supposed to be speaking, I read out loud.

Forget vocal rest. When a seven-foot-tall horned creature with glowing red eyes appears in my apartment, I scream so loudly that I think I scare him even more.

I get over it, though. After the life I’ve lived, I thought I’ve seen everything — but then I find out that Dagon is an immortal shadow demon, I’m supposedly his fated mate, and he thinks I should give up all the glitz and the glamour and the fame to live with him in his shadow world all because he’s “claimed” me.

Well… I wanted a distraction, didn’t I?

* Claimed by the Creature is the fifth book in the Sombra Demons series. It tells the story of Sierra and Dagon (and Three, her cat), a bored starlet with an amusing outlook on life and the devoted demon who will do anything to make her smile...

I really loved all the Sombra books until this one. I still fully enjoyed this book, Dagon was awesome. The FMC? She is so self-absorbed thinking she's the best and hottest, etc. I couldn't stand her. Every time it was her POV, she couldn't stop talking about how awesome she was. I kept skimming over her parts because it was the same every time.

Ehhh this one is my least favorite.

I just couldn't connect with Sierra. She really irritated me, and even though she eventually pulls her head out of her a** it doesn't make up for her bad behavior. So many times, I was just shocked by her behavior; 1.) making him watch movies where she kissed other dudes. 2.) promising him forever (the mate promise) and then turning around, pissed that it actually meant forever 🙄. 3.) When she was telling him that he could go back to Sombra because she couldn't leave earth "because of her fans" - like geezus christ lady! One true chance at love, and you forgo it for a tour and people you don't actually know.

Every time they would have a cute moment, she would ruin it. She also didn't use the whole knowledge/essence thing to understand Dagon or Sombran culture - then would get mad when he didn't tell her something. She could have asked more questions or searched through his brain for info, but she didn't. It felt like she just wanted to be mad at him for no reason.

I am interested in Billie's story! It was the best part of this book, honestly. Sounds like she's been on an interesting journey.

Not even close to as good as the first few books were. He was a super sweet Demon mate but the story was just, meh. The Amazon ebook was also riddled with errors, very unprofessional and distracting.

FMC kinda pissed me off. She’s pretty stubborn, more so than all the other girls. Gives me hella Taylor Swift vibes.
The books are getting more and more repetitive. The only thing that sets this book apart from the rest is that the MC’s actually have verbal altercations.

This was my least favorite of the series. I feel like it dragged on too long and she honestly seems too in her head about being Whiskey Rose it was kinda annoying. I hope Glaine’s story is better.

Sierra, AKA Whiskey Rose, is a famous pop star (think Taylor Swift) who is on forced hiatus due to a throat injury. Her best friend and manager had gone away for a long weekend. Left to her own devices, Sierra quickly grows bored and starts looking at fan mail. She finds the Grimorie du Sombra and decides to attempt the true love spell. (Who determines the grimoire recipients and insures that they find it?)

Dagon is the guardian to Duke Haures' human mate, Susanna, so he is familiar with females from Earth. She witnesses when the spell summons him and encourages him to respond.

This was different from the earlier stories in that Sierra didn’t immediately fall head over heels in love with Dagon even after they swapped essence(s?) Their romance progressed at a slower pace as Dagon tries to figure out what he needs to do to win her over. Their roughest patch ensues when she refuses to accompany him to his home world.

A cliff hanger ending when it seems that Sierra’s bestie has been absconded with by a different Sombra demon.

Sierra, Dagon and Three.

*P.S. This is not a reverse harem book lol. Three is actually Sierra’s pet cat :) . *

While Sierra is a famous celebrity she ends up receiving the Sombra grimoire when she goes through her fan mail. Out of desperation of not feeling lonely and not taking the mate finder spell seriously she does the ritual. Dagon, the demon who takes care of Susana (the Duke’s human mate) security turns out to be her mate. The main plot of this story I would say is Sierra accepting Dagon as her mate. Of understanding that she deserves to feel loved by someone who knows her as Sierra and not by her stage name. And knowing that when her crazy obsessed fans take it too far Dagon will always be there for her.

At the end of the book we get a glimpse of who the next book couple will be which I’m very excited to start.

I saw a tiktok that made me interested in this book and while it wasn't bad, it didn't really live up to expectations.

This is my honest review with Some spoilers!!!!! I address previous review in this. Excuse any mistakes, I typed this in my phone in a rush.

The FMC, sierra was an alright character. I agree with other reviews on here. She is a bit annoying, and intentionally refers to use Dagon’s essence to understand him, causing some miscommunications and light conflict between the couple. She is about self observed, but form what I read, she uses her whiskey rose persona, as just that, a persona. She uses it to call her courage, inflate her self esteem, etc. it’s not as bad as other reviews have stated. Read the books & form your own opinion of her for yourself. She gets more agreeable and likable after the first mating.
As for Dagon, LOVED HIM, he’s just as confused by Sierra a as the readers are! Really a sweet and gentle demon trying to prove himself to his true mate.

The only things that rubbed me the wrong the way, was when Sierra rejected Dagon AFTER MATING him. Yeah, that pissed me off. But u get that is was a choice that the author made to make this book a little more intriguing, i mean, we’re 5 books in. Every story can’t be the same, every couple can’t be the same, so on and so forth. There has to be some conflict and resolution.

This book was a good demon romance, fated mates, instalove, light spice with fluff, 2🌶, 3⭐️.

Sierra and Dagon’s story in Claimed by the Creature is a delicious mix of humor, passion, and supernatural thrills. Sierra’s witty, self-deprecating humor and Dagon’s intense devotion create a perfect balance of lighthearted fun and smoldering chemistry. The premise is unique and intriguing, with Dagon’s immortal nature and Sierra’s adjustment to her new life making for an irresistible romance. The added element of fame, combined with the demon world’s magic, gives the book a fresh and exciting twist. I couldn’t put it down and was completely swept away by their journey together!

FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC Again 😁

This series continues to be well worth reading 😃. This story brings a mate who has been in the spotlight for years and she's gone through numerous events that leave her unable to trust 😞. Fantastic storyline, intense emotions, crazy situations, yummy sexy scenes and A Wonderful mate 😉. Thanks again Sarah, this story left us on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next 🤓.

I enjoyed the diversity of character, Sierra is very interesting and I liked that she had a sort of alter ego. Regarding Dagon, I sometimes found it unrealistic, in the sense that he spent a lot of time with a human (Susanna) but ultimately he knows very little about humans. I also have the impression that relationships are happening faster and faster, which I find a bit of a shame. I can't wait to finish the series!

Dagon and Whiskey Rose

This is book five and the lead female is funny. Whiskey Rose aka Sierra is a famous singer who needs to rest her voice. In her mail is the spell book that she decides to try. From there is a humorous tale between the sombra demon, the human female, and her cat named Three. It’s an easy and uncomplicated read.

Always a great read

I think this one and the second are my favorite. There’s more action and the FMC isn’t so quick to accept him. The only drawback to these books, especially these past two, is the FMC acts like bonding with them didn’t have any consequences. Very annoying. I wish I didnt have to wait for the next book! I knew Glaine was next.

Best one yet. I loved the conflict, they both stubborn, independent, been through something & neither wants to just drop everything for the next. There was love & work put into this. I read some bads reviews, she was this or that. no she was a working woman & earned it. To assume a woman is going to uproot her life for you is BS. There has to be a compromise. OH I LOVED THIS ONE so much.

Great Book

Loved it! Everything you want in a romance with enough drama, danger, humor, love, and steamy sexy scences that are hot but not over the top with awseome characters. Once you start reading this book you won't be able to put it down and definitely a must buy.

tbh this book was very good but i couldn’t stand the way Sierra would disregard Dagon. but i understand why she did cuz of all the fucked up shit she’s dealt with in her life. i don’t know, i love this series but this one wasn’t as good as the first book in my opinion.

I didn't love it but didn't hate it

I'm probably going to end reading this series here. I'm undecided on Billie's book but then learned Tandy is getting a book🤨🤨

If you read this book, you know Tandy and Sierras ex were having an affair, and that's why he's her ex.
