Here is another sports book I read many, many years ago. I was probably a freshman or sophomore in high school when I read this book, which means 1981 or 1982. The Trailblazers have been the only major sports team in Portland in its history, not including NASL or major league soccer. I don't remember much about this book but I do remember in was heavy into the Blazer team players profiles and their backgrounds, and even family lives and what they did in their time outside of basketball. Copyright 1978, so includes championship season and previous 8 year history of the franchise. The author is Larry Colton who I believe was a very good friend of Bill Walton and went on several long bike touring trips with Walton, where he probably took plenty of notes and info from conversations with Walton and other Blazer team members.
The best book written about the Portland Trail Blazers. Colton had incredible access to the players and coaches that writers will never have again. The result is a fascinating look inside the Blazermania of 1977 to 1978.
