SR Fabrico’s CALL HER JANIE is the first book in this romantic suspense series, The Southport.

Call Her Janie is an immersive story about Lizzie Levine who transplants herself from her high powered C suite position in NYC working for Gray Stone Marketing, to small town Southport, NC where her brother Randolph ‘Randy’ lives. In Southport, Lizzie heals from the hurt, the guilt, the trauma, and slowly learns to forgive herself from what happened in her past. Southport is quintessential small town feel with a loving community who embraces and welcomes you like no other. Exactly what Lizzie needs.

I enjoyed how Lizzie’s past is slowly revealed while glimpses of tension abound. While you may think it’s a poignant sweet small town second chance romance, Fabrico suddenly reels you in to the surprising turn of events, the twists and turns that had my heart pulsing, and could not turn the pages fast enough for mind blowing dramatic conclusion.

Wow that was amazing to me, and the cliffhanger of an ending that is making me beg for book two!

Perfect amount of mystery, suspense, thrill, a bit of billionaire romance, and lots of sizzling chemistry with a small town boy, I just could not have enough.

What a great read! Highly recommend!

Review:
This was my first time reading a Contemporary Romantic Suspense by SR so i wasnt sure what to expect but i have to say i really enjoyed this one and it kept me on the edge of my seat especially witht he way she opened The Prologue cause i did not expect that Twist so early on.

The Characters were fun and enjoyable to read about. Lizzie was definately my favorite. I felt for her especially after everything she went through from losing her job to falling for a guy she thought was perfect then turns out he's a Manipulser. I hope she gets happiness in Book 2.

The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was actually in Southport, North Carolina while reading, especially when the scenery of the town was described.

Overall a Phenomenal Book 1 in this Contemporary Romantic Suspense Series!! Can't wait to read Book 2 soon!!

I love when a title is wrapped into the story and gives it meaning. This novel was a great read, starting from page one where you are trying to figure out if Lizzie is running from something, to something or from someone. I loved how the author wound her past with her present and as the story unwound it kept you guessing as to who, what and why until the very cliff ending. A man who is used to getting what he has always wanted has now met his match, and Lizzie just has no idea just what she has gotten herself tangled in and now a days, almost anyone can be found. Is he the one causing all this havoc as she tries to start over and what for? As the truth of everything comes out, Lizzie is faced with a decision that may just really be gambling with the devil but it's a choice almost all women would make. This was a great thriller of a read with unexpected twists and the ending was left with an itch for the next book. Thank you to the author for the free novel and to Book and Wine Lovers for the tour invite. This review is of my own opinion and accord.

Call Her Janie was a nice change of pace!
It was full of romance and suspense.

I liked the romance aspect of the story. The author did a wonderful job of twisting the plot and giving us a seemingly lovely small town second chance romance... even if for some unknown reason I don't really like Josh.

I loved the attention to detail the author had. Everything was described intricately.
The small town setting was perfect for the suspense. After all, what could happen in a small town?? Seriously though, I loved it. All the holidays/seasons were so fun! It has me craving small town life.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The story is a blend of romance, thriller, and suspense. This is the first part in The Southport Series and I really loved it.

The story is filled with action and adventure from the very first chapter. There is so much suspense and you cannot wait to see what happens the next moment. I knew something was wrong with Lizzie because I felt that she was running from something or someone but the way the plot developed was absolutely amazing. The Storytelling is just fantastic.

You need to read this piece guys. It has action, romance, adventure, thriller, suspense all In one. Grab your copy today.

S. R. Fabrico’s Call Her Janie is a wild, genre-bending ride. It’s the story of a broken woman with a rocky past, Lizzie Levine, searching for something, anything, that will help her reset her life and give her some peace and sanity. She seeks sanctuary in the small town of Southport, North Carolina, piling in on her brother and his wife. There, she settles in and tries to start again, cautiously dipping her toes in the dating pool and finding work in a quaint independent bookstore. Her past won’t leave her alone, however, and comes snarling after her in the forms of a persistent, and decidedly creepy, ex and mysterious happenings that defy Lizzie’s ability to decipher them. More chaos than she ever encountered living and working in New York City supplants the serene life she sought.

This is not a book I would normally pick up. Usually the word “romantic” in the subtitle of a book is like wolfsbane to a lycanthrope for me, but I gave it a shot based on a recommendation. I opened this review calling this book “genre-bending.” I stand by that. You know those formulaic Hallmark romance movies on cable TV? Imagine one of those rewritten by Stephen King. It’s not a horror novel by any stretch, but if Kathy Bates’s character from the movie adaptation of Misery showed up in this book, I would not even bat an eye. There’s also a bit of spice in the story. It’s nothing close to what would be considered pornographic, but it’s meant for adult readers. Fabrico is a brilliant writer. Her characters leap from the page in three hearty dimensions. They’re believable as well. You will want to reach into the pages and smack Lizzie at least a couple of times for her painfully poor decisions, but they are one hundred percent spot on for the character.

I read this book in large chunks. It flowed really well and made me want to keep turning pages, especially as it neared the end. I kept stopping to reflect as I went along. More than once, I got the feeling that Fabrico had to be typing this story with a playful smirk on her face, infusing intrigue into one of the most repetitious, pedestrian genres and masterfully twisting it into something truly entertaining and different. If you’re not offended by a little spice and a splash of appropriately placed adult language, and if you are looking for something truly off the beaten path of typical romance novels, pick this up. It’s a great, entertaining read.

Part romance – part mystery – I just devoured this book.

Lizzie is taking a break from hectic New York life where she was CEO of a very profitable marketing firm. In New York, if you want to make it to the top, you have to keep your head to the grindstone 24/7. However, that much pressure comes at a high price.

Lizzie shows up unannounced to visit her brother and sister-in-law at their quaint laid-back community in North Carolina. She arrives with no warning and little luggage but the weight of the unspoken baggage she carries could sink a ship. She throws herself into the rhythm of quiet small-town life. She finds a fulfilling job at a new bookstore helping the owner with creative and innovative ideas to draw in customers.

But there is a tiny fissure in the walls protecting her – a crack so small that at first isn’t visible to the untrained eye. But trickles of truths begin to seep from the wound and before long the scars of the past will stand exposed and oozing for all to see.

I enjoyed the characters in this story – found them full of human emotions, conflicts and even deception. I sometimes like a story that doesn’t tie everything up in bows by the end – a story that leaves you with the words in your head saying, “didn’t see that coming.”

First, thank you to the author and BookSirens for the review copy of this book.

I enjoyed the story, and I especially liked the setting because I’m very familiar with this part of North Carolina, since I have relatives there and visit often. I liked the characters of both Lizzie and Josh a lot, as well as the supporting cast of Randy, Renee, and Helen.

I thought some of Gray’s actions were pretty unbelievable. What a jerk! Since I’m a nurse, I was very curious about how this could have happened and what Lizzie’s injuries were. I thought that particular plot point was a bit far-fetched.

All in all, I’d like to read the rest of the story and look forward to that.

Thank you, Partners @KateRockBookTours and @srfabrico_author for my #giftedbook and spot on the tour!

This is the first in The Southport series. In this series we meet Lizzie Levine, an unstoppable female marketing exec at one of NYC's finest firms. Driven by the loss of her parents, Lizzie is determined to persist - until she meets the handsome and enigmatic billionaire Gray Stone. When she finds out she's pregnant, she learns Gray isn't what he seemed.

Desperate for a change in scenery, Lizzie heads to stay with her family in the south. No one there knows why she left and the author did an excellent job of slowly releasing details. This kept me turning pages because I was engrossed in how warm her family was and their relationships. The characters are beautifully written and play well with one another. She also meets new friends and Josh. As she and Josh grow closer, strange things begin to happen that Lizzie cannot ignore.

Filled with twists and turns you won't see coming combined with strong familial relationships against the backdrop of a tight knight community, this book has it all. A strong female lead (which I love) combined with small town southern charm, I couldn't put this one down. I'm excited to see what this author has in store for Lizzie in the second book!

My favorite part of Lizzie is that she worked in a bookstore. My dream is to own one someday!

Call Her Janie is book 1 in an upcoming trilogy by SR Fabrico. The book is told in 1st person from the POV of Lizzie (who I love by the way). It takes place in Southport, the cuuutest little quaint town where everyone knows everyone. I’m not going to lie, I definitely googled this place 🤣 and was shocked to know it was real and equally as adorable as the author described. I thought this book was a perfect summer read and I really loved the mystery/suspense meets romance! I did guess some things but I didn’t have it all figured out so I really enjoyed seeing this play out. It ended on a cliff hanger which makes me excited for book 2!

Call Her Janie by S. R. Fabrico is the first book in her new trilogy. This is a well written highly emotional story of a young women’s journey of love, loss, grief, acceptance and second chances. Ms. Fabrico will grab you from the very start and take you on a heart pounding suspenseful roller coaster ride of twist and turns. It is fast paced and unputdownable. You will be on the edge of your seat from start to finish! The characters are well developed, real and likable…..well maybe some are!! Ms. Fabrico will pull at your heartstrings with this one. A romantic suspense with a jaw dropping ending. I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Thank you S. R. Fabrico and SRF Creations for the honor to read this captivating story early. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

In Call Her Janie, S.R. Fabrico introduces readers to the small, cozy town of Southport and its immediately lovable residents. Lizzie Levine is in Southport to stay with her brother and his wife. But why has she left New York? What is she hiding from? As Lizzie’s story in New York unravels, a new romance story is being put together in Southport. This book was such a page-turner!

*4.5 On My Instagram Account*

"I vow always to protect your heart."

It's a promise that may be hard to keep in the extremely emotional Call Her Janie by suspense romance author S.R. Fabrico.

Lizzie has it all with her powerhouse NYC marketing career and her billionaire boss lover Gray. Then she gets pregnant and her life explodes into shattered pieces.

Needing to start over she moves to the quintessential small town Southport, NC to be with her brother Randy and his wife. Here everyone smiles hello, listens when you speak and actually walks to places. She gets a calming job at a book store, meets the sweet alpha protective and very patient Josh, and moves into her own place.

Almost perfect...see she has never told anyone what happened to uproot her life, they haven't seen her scars, physical and emotional, that she keeps strategically hidden from everyone. Then her home is broken into, shadows follow her home, and someone from her past "coincidentally" shows up.

This writer cleverly takes us on a roller coaster slowly bringing us up the track to Lizzie finding peace to then suddenly dropping us down into the abyss of monumental betrayal, cruelty and twisty turns. As Lizzie's past meets her present we see the walls she must climb to reach her future. Thankfully, this is a trilogy and book 2 will be here in 2024.

The twists are jaw dropping. I predicted one but not the others. Each chapter left me breathless with anticipation for the next chapter.

The steam is HOT. Here's a warm example:
"I don't want this moment to end."
"Don't worry. I plan to take my time."

Josh is a man of his word...for many descriptive pages...many moans...many times over.

Did you notice I never mentioned anyone called Janie? Oh her appearance will break you.

I received a free copy of this book from
Book and Wine Lovers for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

‘Call Her Janie’ is a romantic thriller and I was hooked from the start! I will be honest and I don’t really read a lot of romance but it’s a genre I am trying out more this year! This book was the perfect blend of romance with a mystery to boot! It is high on the spice thermometer but I think that’s why I loved it! As I was reading this book I kept thinking of the show ‘Virgin Rivers’ on Netflix and how this felt like it. I could definitely see this being filmed and people loving it!

Lizzie Levine is at the top of her game, an executive in an ace New York marketing firm! She doesn’t let anything stand in her way to getting to the top. But when she arrives in Southport, North Carolina, to reconnect with her brother Randy she is a shadow of her old self. She begins to work in a small bookshop and meets hottie Josh one day in the local market. As Lizzie begins to heal and rebuild her life she soon realises that her past is catching up with her and she needs to face it head on!

I really liked Lizzie and her family and friends. It really did evoke small town American - even Lizzie thinks it resembles Star Hollow from the Gilmore Girls. It’s a place, more of a sense really that I would like to visit! Lizzie was a strong protagonist and I loved her story, albeit is very sad and challenging in places. It was a well written narrative that kept me captivated the whole way through. There are many twist and turns to keep the mystery reader engaged and I loved seeing that being revealed as the story unfolded.

Let me know if you pick this one up!

Read if you enjoy:

- Small Town Vibes (Southport, NC)
- Romantic Suspenseful Thriller
- Community Support
- Bookstore Vibes
- Mature reading
- Open Door Romance

Rating: 3.5 ⭐️

This romantic thriller starts with a hook right from the beginning as our main character wakes up after a coma and learns of her loss. She wants nothing more than to move away from it all and finds herself on a small town in North Carolina trying to rebuild her life alongside her brother and his wife. In her journey, she begins sharing her struggles and you learn of her trauma.

Overall, I enjoy many aspects of this book. Lizzie’s grief was reflected slowly throughout the story and you get to piece the puzzle. Lizzie has many kept secrets that not even her brother knows about as she is certainly feeling very lost. She comes out stronger from the support of her newfound family and I appreciate seeing those relationships develop.

Things I didn’t enjoy: (Spoiler Alert) ‼️

- Some red flags with Josh (new romance) and his push on the relationship. He kept mentioning that he would go at her pace, yet he would push through her boundaries even when she wasn’t ready. Just didn’t sit well reading through this.
- The love between Josh and Lizzie was so superficial. It didn’t go into details of how they fell in love, it was mostly implied through scenes. Didn’t click with me!
- Plot was lacking and could have been developed more. The story had potential but there were several turn offs. Some things seemed exaggerated to fit the plot.

What a great read this book was! It’s the first book in a new romantic suspense series, Southport, and you can bet that I am going to be reading book number two.
From the executive offices in New York to small town resident in North Carolina, Lizzie Levine’s life is certainly going through some major changes, and in this book she’s taking us along for the ride.
Lizzie was definitely my favourite character, I love a strong female lead, so I was rooting for her all the way through. All of the characters were really well developed and the author provides us with just the right amount of details so that we can create clear images in our minds of what the characters look like.
The author continues and to give that same level of detail in relation to the environments and landscapes. This affords the readers, the ability to envisage places and spaces within the story.
In my opinion, the author has a beautiful writing style that is an absolute joy to read.
You definitely don’t see all of the twists and turns coming within this story so it will keep you hooked from start to finish and with the cliffhanger at the end you like me will be waiting with bated breath for the second book in the series.
Overall, this is an excellent book that I thoroughly enjoyed and I highly recommend.
My thanks to the author, the publisher and to LoveBooksTours for gifting me this book. I am leaving this review of my own volition.

Call her Janie is a romantic thriller of hitting rock bottom, building yourself up, just to be tore down again.

Lizzie was a marketing powerhouse in New York City until she fell for her boss and her world began to crumble. She is struck with grief and rebuilding her life in a quaint small town where her brother and his wife reside. After months of living there she finally feels like her life is coming back together when it all fall apart again. Can her new life handle the challenge?

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I liked how the author conveyed Lizzie’s grief and how she stepped up to the challenge of rebuilding her life and opening up to trust again.

I felt like this book lacked the suspense and thrill that you typically see in a thriller.l and therefore the plot was just mediocre in some places. I also found it to be pretty predictable and figured out the big mystery fairly early on.

I would give this book a 3.5/5 stars and will likely read the second book in the series, Keeping Janie.

Thank you book sirens for my ARC. I am giving an honest feedback for exchange of my free copy.

Call Her Janie is a Romantic Suspense novel that reads like a really good Lifetime movie. You know the kind I’m talking about. It has likeable characters, in an idyllic town, and everything is wonderful until BAM! Bad things start happening, panic ensues, and everything gets kicked up a notch. That’s this book, lol. Just when you get comfortable in Lizzie’s new life, things get bad.
I’m not one for romance in my thrillers, but I was all in for this one. I very much enjoyed the slow speed, and courting between Lizzie and Josh. It definitely helped build that sense of security we needed for Lizzie.
Without giving away the whole book, I have to tell you that the twist is insane! When you get to it, you’re going to be shocked. I legit didn’t see it coming, and it changes the whole path of the book, if Lizzie’s life. So much so that a second book has to happen, in order to get closure. I wouldn’t say we are left with a cliffhanger, but more of a Omg what happens next?
Overall this was a quick read that sucked me in. Just the right amount of romance to not be sappy, the perfect twist, and an ending that leaves you wanting more.

This is Book One of 'Southport Series'. Lizzie Levine is one of New York's marketing executive, With the death of her parents, Lizzie is determent to make everything she does work. Gray Stone is a billionaire, handsome (which he knows) and Lizzie's boss. Gray turned on the charm and Lizzie fell for it. hook line and sinker. Lizzie finds out she pregnant, but when she tells Gray, she didn't get the reaction that she expected, Gray showed his true colours. Lizzie decides to go to Southport and spend some time with her brother. Will this been the best place for her?
Just when you think you know what's to come, the author throws you a few unexpected twists, which draws you in even more. I need Book Two to find out what's next.

This was such a good book that had me completely hooked from start to finish. I couldn't put it down.

It is well written with a narrative that drew me in right from the very first sentence and held me right until the end. The storyline is utterly compelling and the characters are well developed and I took to them straight away. The settings of the book also really helped set the scene and deliver the tension when it was needed, and oh boy, does this book deliver.

The book is full of twists that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat and the cliffhanger at the end left me shouting out and wanting more immediately.
I cannot recommend this book enough

Wow where do I even began with this book. I mean it really started out with a bang and then just kept on going with the suspense. I loved Lizzy and how fierce she was. I loved her story and I loved the romance thrown in this book as well. Nothing is better than romance and mystery I didn't know how much I needed this book until I devoured it in only a matter of hours not getting anything else accomplished lol, totally worth it.
Umm the ending of this book really for really ???
Gonna leave it on a cliff hanger like that !! I hope a sequel is coming out, and soon !!! Ahhhh!!! Y'all run to get this book. You won't be disappointed!!!

As I was reading and about 3/4ths through the book I had decided I would be giving it a 3 star rating. It read just like a Hallmark movie - romantic and predictable. However, I kept reading because it was an easy, enjoyable read. By
the time I got to the end of the book I had changed my mind and gave it a 4 star rating. There ended up to be twists and turns in the story that I had not anticipated and it made it hard to put the book down.
I look forward to reading the sequel when it is published.
