Ride hard or stay home…
A phony friendship between an ex-con biker haunted by his past and a suburban mom with an uncertain future shifts gears with startling consequences.

After more than two decades as a stay-at-home mom, Penta Potter’s life is at a crossroads, her future stretching emptily ahead. When her youngest son vandalizes a local motorcycle mechanic’s garage, confronting the forbidding yet compelling owner sparks deliciously wicked longings.

Since his release from prison twelve years ago, Cash Rylance keeps his head down and his nose clean. He has no business aching for a fiercely protective, sweet-lipped, divorced mother of four. If he promises to keep his hands to himself, maybe she will help him be the dad his estranged daughter deserves.

A fake relationship between these two restless hearts seems the perfect route to take…until their improbable plan detours toward a totally different destination.

Brenda Margriet writes savvy, slow burn, contemporary romances with ordinarily amazing characters. In her own ordinarily amazing life, she had a successful career in radio and television production before deciding to pilfer from her retirement plan to support her writing compulsion.

Readers have called her stories “poignant,” “explicit and steamy,” “interesting, intriguing and entertaining,” and “unlike any romance you’ve read before” (she assumes the latter was meant in a good way).

This is book five in a 'seasoned couple' series.  From the beginning it has a completely different edge to it, there is a single mum, a bearded biker and a fake romance - well I'm hooked!

Penta she's so caring as a person, but meeting Cash brings out another side too.  Early on she gives Cash a card ❤️, I wasn't sure why but brought tears to my eyes, so sweet on both sides.

Cash, a hairy biker, ex-criminal and now a business owner.  He is thrown into Penta's life when his garage is vandalised.  Would it be wrong to say well played Cyril, as it brought two people together, fate and all that!

“Would a bad girl do laundry instead
of going for a ride with her tattooed
ex-con of a fake boyfriend?”

So you put together a scary, hairy-looking biker who isn't really scary, and a mum who wants something more and you get an easy-to-read but sexy story with a touch of edginess.  I loved it.

I think it might be my fave out of this series.

The sound of a thunk jerked Penta awake. Was one of her kids trying to sneak out? No, that was definitely a thunk and two voices were arguing. Grabbing her bat she snuck down the stairs only to stop in shock.

A massive bearded man was holding onto her youngest Cyril and was obviously furious. Who was this man and why was he holding onto her son? Raising her bat she demands he release her son and explain why he is in her house.

Cash was watching the squirming teenager trying to avoid his mother's eyes, but he had had enough. Cyril finally mumbled out that he and his friends had broken into Absolute Motorcycle Repair thinking there might be cash in the register.

Cash luckily lived on site or he never would have arrived in time. Although the other four managed to escape he had grabbed this culprit and gave him the choice of home or the police. He gave the boy's mom his business card and told her that her son was going to work to pay off the damages. He was to be at his shop at 8 in the morning or he was pressing charges.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is another book revolving around the Silverberry Book Club. The book club that instead of reading goes on monthly adventures. The characters are recurring so I highly recommend that you read the complete series.

Penta is a divorced mother of four. Her ex-husband left her twelve years before claiming that she was boring and spent too much time with the kids. Yeah, he's a real keeper. With her youngest getting ready for high school and her oldest in his third year of college she is feeling even more insecure about herself and future.

Cash has no business thinking about a suburban mom of four. A tattooed biker who spent time in prison for assault was definitely not her type. And with his past being able to creep in from the shadows he was the last thing she needed. He didn't deserve her.

This book is action-packed, full of danger and spicy hot. I enjoyed reuniting with the book club and their adventures I have to admit that as soon as I met Cash I thought about Orange County Choppers. I loved this tough biker showing his vulnerability and just wanting a chance to prove he has changed. Highly recommend.

Again, really enjoying the Silverberry Seductions Seasoned Romance collection and Too Good for Words is the latest story in the collection.

So great that romance authors are writing stories where the main characters are of a “mature” age! Just because someone is over 40 (or 50 or 60 or…you get the idea!), they can still be looking for that right One.

And maybe that right One comes from the least likely circumstance.

Penta is a divorced mother of four. When her youngest son, Cyril, is caught having vandalized a motorcycle shop, the owner, Cash Rylance, brings him home to discuss the consequences with Penta, rather than call the police.

While Cash has a plan for Cyril to work off the damage to his shop, Penta at first balks. Should her son spend time with a man who looks rough around the edges?

Some people, based on his appearance, tats and a prison record, might judge Cash that way, but when Penta sees him reconnecting with his teen daughter (whose mother forbid him from contacting), she can’t help but feel there’s more to him than his outward appearance.

And for her part, Penta looks like a typical suburban mom struggling to balance raising her (mostly) teen children and yet, there’s more to her than meets the eye, as well.

Cash and Penta hatch a plan for a fake friendship to allow him time with his daughter and her a “walk on the wild side”. How do they fare?

This was an entertaining story with two unlikely characters - almost an opposites attract - finding each other and, in the end, learn a lot about themselves and what they can be for each other!

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 Total standalone in a series: Silverberry Seduction (seasoned romance). I love how the series is connected by characters in the Silverberry “book club” turned friendship/community group.
🤩 The captivating meet-scary.
🤩 When big red and scary turns big red and arousing.
🤩 The sexual tension and attraction are so good.
🤩 Opposites attract—bad boy/good girl.
🤩 Cash: reformed bad boy biker.
🤩 Penta: amazing mom, now single, because her ex-husband cheated on her.
🤩 Penta Unleashed: “Do you want to be a bad girl, Penta?”
🤩 Phony friendship/fake dating/let’s make a deal—father figure for street cred! Love it!!
🤩 That hot first kiss of reassurance—definitely turns me on.
🤩 So much emotion from Cash getting to know Elle.
🤩 The motorcycle riding. “Sorry. No grab handles on this one. You’ll have to hold onto me.”
🤩 Beautiful dialogue and descriptions of places and moments.
🤩 All the feels—the feelings of want, need, and desire. I adore how they are so perfectly what the other needs.
🤩 Gay pride representation.

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 Cash needs some therapy. He still seems so mentally troubled, maybe depressed.
💫 I felt shorted on some of the details of the intimate and steamy moments. It’s detailed and then maybe too suddenly fade-to-black.

Penta Potter and Cash Rylance are as opposite as night and day, yet they have a spark of chemistry. Even though Penta’s first reaction to Cash is rage and protectiveness for her son. But as her son, Cyril, now owe Cash service hours due to a mischievous act, they are thrown together countless times.

When Penta’s book club arranges a motorcycle intro class, Penta sees a different side of Cash. And they make a pact, Penta will help him win over his daughter, Elle’s mother so he can develop a real parental relationship with Elle.

I loved, loved, loved this couple. While Penta has spent most of her life being a people pleaser, now divorced and struggling to find herself, while Cash has spent the last decade avoiding people except for with his work.

Cash pushes Penta out of her comfort zone, helps her find her strength and sensuality (not just sex, although there is plenty of that too) and calls her Penta Unleashed.

A remnant of Cash’s past almost becomes a trauma for the teens, and definitely causes a rift in the blossoming relationship.

There is a happy ending for Penta and Cash… and I would love to see them in the future a few years down the line…

I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this series but this one has truly touched my heart.
Penta has dedicated her life to her children possibly to the point of alienating her ex-husband. She has reached the point where they are poised to spread their wings. Her control in their lives is slipping from her fingers and she is unsure what should be next for her life.
Penta's youngest teenage son makes a bad decision that throws their lives into the crossroads with Cash.
Cash has made some bad decisions in his life, one that cost him time in jail. These days he just keeps his nose clean and does what he does best, repair motorcycles. When he catches Penta's son trashing his repair shop a tenuous bond is struck and they build a friendship that includes a fake relationship to help each of them bring fulfillment to their lives once again.
This story is emotional and heartfelt but it also has a familiarity to what all of us feel when we have reached the precipice of the "empty nest".

Warm and Satisfying Seasoned Romance

Penta's divorce is several years in her past and now her life revolves around her four children. When her second son, Cyril, gets caught trashing a motorcycle repair shop by the shop's biker ex-con owner, she reluctantly agrees to bring the boy to the shop every day to work and pay for the damage he did. Another shot at love isn't anywhere on her radar.

Cash Rylance has his life figured out. All he needs to do is keep other people at a distance and he won't risk a repeat of the fight that sent him to prison.

But fate has other plans for them.

I love books that are filled with good-hearted people trying to do the right thing, so I enjoyed every minute of Penta and Cash's journey toward love and fulfillment.

I love Brenda Margriet's novels! Granted, I've only read two, but they're really good.
I actually thought Cash was younger than Penta.
Anyway, Cash is a convicted criminal and has been trying to put his life right, this includes keeping his bad influence from his daughter, which broke my heart.
One of Penta's sons is acting out and falling in with the wrong crowd and Cash catches him vandalizing his motorcycle shop. So he makes the son clean up his mess.
Penta and Cash agree to date so she can help Cash reconnect with this teenage daughter. They fall in love, Cash's past might come back to haunt him, they talk it out. Just real, but also sweet and with characters who are older, but still deserve love and romance.

I loved Penta, maybe because I am the older suburban mom with kids lol! Life isn't over when you hit middle age and have kids to take care of. It was nice to see some spark and life come into Penta throughout the story. Cash is not what you would expect from a tattooed ex-con, he is selfless and just the sweetest guy to Penta. I enjoyed his progression as a character, he grew the most as a character within the story and it brought tears to my eyes in certain parts of the story. The only thing I would love to see more of is steam! These two really had chemistry and while there are some spicy scenes, I would love to see more from them.

On the surface, it wouldn't seem that a biker ex-con and a divorced mother of four children would be a good match. However, there is so much more to Penta and Cash. I loved the progression of the relationship between them which started as a fake relationship but led to so much more. Penta was able to see past Cash's exterior and helped him to see that he was so much more than his prison time and helped him navigate starting a relationship with his daughter. Cash helped Penta to come to discover who she was outside of being a mother. There were so many memorable moments throughout the story, and I love that there are more authors writing characters that are more seasoned.

Penta and Cash couldn’t be more opposite if they tried but you know what they say about that. This couple will melt your hearts. They will prove that your past doesn’t define your future. I loved this little family. review by K. Gibson
