Naive and sheltered 18-year-old Ann Merrill spends her last summer before college working in Boston at a used bookstore and experiencing first love amid the complications of friendship with an unstable housemate. (Nancy Pearl)
I first read this book in the late 80's-early 90's when it was freshly out, checking it out at the Driftwood library in Lincoln city, Oregon and loving it. I kept looking for it as an adult thinking fondly of it and wanting to read it again. Of course you can't find anything anymore because the only books on the shelves are the ones that everyone wants to read. I searched for it used on Amazon and though it was really tricky to find, I finally procured a copy and I was so excited to read it again. It was just as good as I remembered it. The author was a northwest author who only wrote one book, but man, she has her characters down, and though it was a love story, it was also about friends and boundaries and growing up. I really loved it.
