He’s everything I should be avoiding. But how did I end up pregnant with his baby?
Grant Neville is my father’s best friend. The person he trusts the most in the world. Forbidden territory personified.
I know it is wrong on so many levels, but I can’t seem to get enough of his presence...
His ocean-blue eyes have a way of finding me in every room, his dimples make my knees go weak, and my hands itch to be buried in his dark hair.
But I know better by now.
My history with older men has left me with plenty of scars, and Grant is not just any older man.
Too bad that a few drinks later, I don’t remember any of that.
I risk my sanity just to be in Grant’s arms, in his bed, and in his heart. But soon enough, I’ll have to risk everything for the baby we never planned to have…
Jessica Schly & Stefan Cordova are both new-to-me narrators so I don’t have anything to compare them to say they were better than or not of what I’d experienced in the past but I will say that with all the different characters that were a part of this story, I feel they did an amazing job with their versatility so it stands to reason I’d enjoy them just as much in other narrations I chose to get lost in for a day or two :) we shall see!
STORY: 4.5 STARS
Age-gap trope is my crack especially when the gap is like this: mid 20s and early 50s is a perfect age-gap pairing for me. Those are the stories I tend to gravitate the most towards when I need a fix (lol) and now I’ve found a new-to-me author that I will be devouring!!!
This story wasn’t your typical “taboo age-gap”, it was a lot more. It was sweet and sexy, which was perfect for who the main characters were. The plot was engaging, and the storyline really captivated me and had me listening all in one day! I loved the family aspect of the story and the HEA could not have been more perfect!
Now that I’ve met the Solace sisters, I cannot wait to jump into their stories! Even though I have only experienced this one Callie Stevens story, I’ve been reading romance fiction for a long time so I feel confident in saying that she’s going to be an author I one-click for my age-gap taboo fixes lol I mean that trope is my crack, and I can’t go without very long so ….
Quickie review: I honestly cannot remember how I came across this book or this new to me author, but I sure am glad I did. It was so good and absolutely everything I could want in a dad’s best friend romance. Not overly spicy but just right and it fit this book to perfection. Stevens wrote an amazing story that had me greedily flipping through the pages. I am eagerly anticipating each story that can come from this series as there are a lot of sisters needing their other half with a sexy, beautiful story to go with it. I cannot wait for the next book to come out because I did not see that one coming. The blurb has me so eager to read Gillian’s story and find out how she kept this huge secret for so long! 5 Stars!
A great age gap dad’s best friend romance, loved every minute of this book, the main Characters Grant and Harley were a delight to read. love the closeness Harley has with her sister and Grant has with his sister. Callie written this age gap dads’ best friend really well doesn’t seem forced there both struggle with what there have done.
There is a surprise meeting of two characters you think you just hear about due to the past of these two but you get to see just how horrible there really are.
Undoubtedly the most boring age gap romance I've read ever. In the history of age gap romances, this was an utter fail.
Let's start with the romance. It was so dreadfully boring.
Harley was just not even a character. She was a bunch of personality quirks trying to fraud as a fully fleshed out character. She is the definition of a white bread white milk boiled chicken with no salt girlie. So bland. Not very kind but accurate description. Her sisters, the next in the series baits, had more distinguishable personalities than her. Why the f--k would a guy risk his decades long friendships for her? 👀
Grant was equally dull. If you remove the stated 23 years age gap, boy acted just as equally immature and idiotic as Harley. I never felt like he was older than her other than him stating that he was so much older. I never once believed him to be this supposed magnetic CEO character because he had zero charisma. He was described as one thing but shown in the writing as the most average boring character ever.
This was missing all the elements that make an age gap romance interesting. If the age gap was removed, what would be left? Two characters with zero chemistry.
The spice? Laughably boring. Grant should have enough life experiences to do something more interesting, especially considering his background. Boy was not impressing with his very basic skills.
And now that I've read 2 Callie Stevens books, this has to be discussed.
The big conflict was dragged out so much. And each character just loved to wallow in their own pity party to the point I didn't want these two lovesick puddles of complaints to get together.
Thinking about it further, there were zero scenes where I felt like these two characters ever connected or had chemistry. And that is a huge failure in writing. I think Stevens should have developed this relationship better because what draws these two characters together? What draws me to want to read about these two characters? These simple story questions were not answered here.
What is even funnier is that there were several parts where they were described as having these life changing conversations with each other where they connected, but the book just skips over them. Just a literal quick sentence saying they had the most amazing conversation. That is just lazy writing. Show the characters falling in love. Slapping a few mediocre sex scenes with bits of awkward and stilted interactions doesn't make for a great romance.
That is the core problem here. This was not enjoyable. It was very boring and dragged the core conflict, Harley and Grant not wanting to hurt Harley's dad, way too long. There were no scenes where I enjoyed seeing Harley and Grant together because there was zero chemistry. No cute banter. No electric spice. Not even a good sm-t scene to distract me from the overall mediocrity.
Since I know Callie Stevens can do better, this was disappointing. It felt very much like a rushed story. There is an obvious lack of care for these characters and their romance. In the hands of another writer, this could have been quite interesting. There are interesting elements here, but the execution was lacking.
This should have been a DNF. I saw 23 years age gap and thought I would get something interesting 🤡
“Seriously, Harley, how am I supposed to resist you?” - Silver Fox’s Secret Baby by Callie Stevens
When Harley and Grant meet again after eight years, neither of them can deny the intense attraction between them. The only problem? He’s twice her age and her dad’s best friend. Surely enough to keep things strictly platonic… until things don’t. Nothing will be the same again, especially when two pink lines are involved. Can our couple work things out, or will complications from the past keep them apart?
Lights, drama, action! Our latest Smut Archive entry sees a taboo romance between a twenty-something radio host and her dad’s sexy best friend entangling in an affair that brings out all the feels. Paired with fun and emotional family connections and great character flow between our couple, “Silver Fox’s Secret Baby” is a good heart-moving read for anyone needing an age gap to savor.
Our couple has the Angst Factor when it comes to their love story, as both go back and forth between should and shouldn’t in order to prevent heartache from each other and their loved ones. We do get more scenes where they fight off their growing love for each other, but it, and the time they spend apart pining for their crush, only makes the scenes we do get with them together all the more sweeter.
The spice is a bit on the mild side with only a few scenes and Tags, but are well-written and enticing for any new smut readers to start with.
My only con would be certain antagonistic conflicts, as both feel like they were resolved quickly by the end, as well as mention of Harley’s time in Australia not playing much of an active role in the story or onto our characters.
Overall, “Silver Fox’s Secret Baby” was an enjoyable read that promises more to come with future romances from the other Solace sisters.
Final Smut Archive assessment: You know what they say about roughing it in a treehouse.
Silver Fox Secret Baby is book one in the Solace Sister sseries. A full-length standalone novel complete with no cheating or cliffhanger and guaranteed happily-ever-after. A brilliantly written story with world building characters and twisty storyline that captures the audience with it's spice, mystery, steam, and lust. Grant Neville and Kent Solace had been friends for years and he had watched Harley grew up. He's a trusted friend of the family someone who her dad trust with life, so Harley is forbidden territory. This is the tenth book I have read that Callie Stevens has written and I can honestly say there is not one that I didn't like or love. Callie is one of those authors I trust to deliver a good quality book that will not disappoint me. I have found hours of entertainment, hours of enjoyment, and hours of escape from the real world thanks to this author. The plots she writes are original and the characters she brings to life are well developed. It was impossible for me not to love Grant and Harley which made it easy for me to feel a connection with both of them. Silver Fox's Secret Baby is my favorite book by Callie and I do not say that lightly. I mean after reading ten books by her it is safe to say I have a couple favorites, but this one stands out among the rest. This is just the first book in The Solace Sisters Series and I can't wait to read the rest.
Harley attended college in Australia for a degree in audio broadcasting. It has been several years since she last saw Grant her father's best friend. This is the first time in a few years that Grant is attending his best friend Kent's Fourth of July barbeque party. Both of them are attracted to each other from the moment Harley opens the door and their eyes meet. Although it is wrong in so many ways Grant and Harley have a chemistry that just can't be extinguished no matter how hard they try. The pull between them refuses to be ignored and it doesn't take long before they give into their carnal desires. The results are in and Harley discovers she is pregnant with Grant's baby. He can never know and more importantly her dad can never find out who the father is because it will be the end of their lifelong friendship. How will Harley do this on her own without Grant?

Harley has always been drawn to a more mature man than anyone her own age, but she really shouldn't be drawn to her father's best friend. He has been a part of their lives for years, but she just can't help but see him from a different perspective now. One time together in the tree house is a slip up of hormones and lust, but to continue to crave his touch is another thing. She can't help but feel guilty when she considers how her father will see it.
Grant is older and should know better, but he can't help how he feels just being near Harley. She makes him feel calmer and yet more alive than he has been for years. Yet the guilt he feels about betraying the trust of his best friend is tearing him apart.
Things get even more difficult when Harley's more returns to see her and her sisters have having abandoned them 10 years ago. The man she left to marry, who used to be a friend of her father and Grant is now back to take Grant to court and try to wrestle his business away from him. Will her relationship with Grant make things even more difficult for the family? Can she and Grant find a way to bridge the guilt and make it work together.
This was a great read. The family of 5 sisters makes you feel like you are part of the story as you read it since it is so visually real life. I can't wait for more in this series and see how the rest of sisters find love. I completely recommend this as a to be read and follow this author for more.

• Story/Plot: 📖📖📖 /5 • Characters: 🫂🫂🫂🫂 • Drama/Angst: 😰😰😰😰 • Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 • POV: Dual • HEA? ✔️ • Would I re-read? No • Epilogue? It’s not labeled as epilogue but last chapter is 4 months later
This story was pretty emotional. I had gone in expecting a certain level of “Yes! We can’t! Yes! We can’t!” But this book was almost exclusively “We can’t!” I just prefer my stories to have a little less drama and a little more of them being together before deciding to find a way to share their relationship with the dad/friend/family etc.
I really liked the MMC & FMC together and it’s just a bummer that we mostly didn’t see that in this story. Much of the story was them living their lives separately. That’s the reason I’m rating the story as I am.
I really liked most of the characters in the book including her sisters. They were written very realistically, bickering and supporting and all the things written into the story.
If you like well-written characters in a dramatic age-gap romance, then this could be the story for you!

This is the start of The Solace Sisters Series that gives you an older man, Grant and his best friend, Kent’s younger daughter, Harley. When Kent has his annual 4th party Grant comes with his younger sister and Grant and Harley have an amazing reaction ending with them spending time together during the fireworks! They know it can’t happen again with the past hurts her father went through, his other best friend, Malcom leaves with his wife 10 years ago never looking back. Harley and her 4 sisters are close and have a great relationship with their dad so Harley feels like she betrayed her dad. When they see each again they’re not able to keep their hands off one another and they genuinely love one another and heal old pains. When the past comes for them all things get turned upside down even more than anyone thought possible. It’s heartbreaking to see what not being together does to them and when they both get the chance to go after their love those deserving to be a part of their lives shows how true love can conquer all! Harley hasn't seen Grant. Her dad's best friend for 8 years. For 6 years she was out of the country and for the past two years they have both been busy. When Grant turns up to the big 4th July party and they meet again it is like fireworks go off and the world stops moving. They are drawn to each other, it's not just a physical reaction to they way they look it's something deeper, however Grant is Harley's dad's only friend following the fallout from her mother leaving over 10 years ago with her Dad's friend Malcolm. She can't be the one to betray him.
These two are great together, they both bring out the best in eachother and heal past hurts through the love they grow.
The story has alot going on, Harley is one of 5 sisters and they all have things going on (can't wait to hear more from them) and there are other surprises along the way.
An enjoyable and quick read that I devoured in one sitting.

Harley and Grant have known each other for years as he is her fathers best friend, but things happened ten years ago in her family so she had not seen him for quite a while. The family Fourth of July event ended with a lot more fireworks than what was in the sky. Both have rough backstories and vow to not do it again, to protect her father and his friend. Things do not go as planned when they can not stop thinking about each other. The characters are believable, strong, protective, and care deeply for those they love. The storyline has so many twists, surprises, revelations, entertaining situations, steam, great personalities, big decisions, pregnancy, tension, mother returning, stepfather with unwelcome agenda, and more that keep the pages turning. Stayed on the edge right up to the end, not knowing which way things would go. You will keep your fingers crossed, too. Terrific ending that brought it all together.

This is the first book in a new series about the five Solace Sisters and this author has another winner!
Grant is Harley's father's best friend. She hasn't seen him in several years. She is surprised at the attraction she feels toward him - and it is mutual. They give into their feelings - in a treehouse at the July 4th party. Thinking they got each other out of their systems, they are proven wrong when they can't stop thinking of one another. However, they are both reluctant to do anything to hurt Harley's dad.
Further complicating matters, Harley's stepfather, a former friend of her father's, comes back to town to cause trouble. Oh, and then Harley finds out she's having Grant's baby. Will there be a happy ending for Grant and Harley?
Such a great story, as are all by this author! Totally recommend.

Harley has been back in the United States for a while, but she's feeling like life is not very exciting. Grant is a long-time friend of her father's. When he arrives at the door for the 4th of July party the family is hosting, there is a spark between the two of them. Of course, there are lots of people around so they can't act on it. After an unforgettable encounter in the treehouse during the fireworks, neither one of them can forget. When Harley finds out that their fireworks resulted in more than they thought, will she let Grant know and when he does know, how will he react? Not to mention what happens when everyone else, including Harley's dad, finds out what happened?
This was a great story and I loved that even though Grant had a lot of experience in his line of work, he took Harley's words to heart. It meant a lot he was listening to her even when she didn't know that he was. It was even more important later, but he respected her ideas and opinions from the beginning.
¨ Age Gap ¨ Dad’s Best Friend ¨ Pregnancy ¨ Older Man Younger Woman ¨ Forbidden Romance ¨ HEA
Book 1 in the Solace Sister Series by Callie Stevens is Silver Fox – Secret Baby and is a full-length standalone novel. Harley hasn’t seen her Dads Best Friend in 8 years and when he shows up their 4th of July party Harley is all Grant can see. An instant attraction leads to an explosive roll around in the treehouse. Silver Fox's Secret Baby is the 1st book in The Solace Sisters series and it is a fantastic way to start the new series!! I absolutely love Harley and her sisters. Due to a couple of broken hearts and abandonment issues, Harley struggles with the idea of relationships and love, resigning to forever being alone. However upon seeing her father's best friend, Grant, for the first time in 8 years, her body and heart are saying something completely different. Harley is attracted to the forbiddenness of it all however can she overcome her issues and seek happiness or will she continue to deny herself for the sake of others? Can't wait to see which sister is next and what the future holds for all of the Solace sisters!.

Loved this story of Harley one of 5 sisters and Grant best friend of more than 30 years to Harley’s dad Kent. Harley and Grant meet each other at Kent’s annual 4th July BBQ after not seeing each other for 8 years, the attraction between them was instant and confusing all at once because it was of course so forbidden! Well, sexual chemistry and opportunity gives us an to read the steamy, sexy passionate encounter that they swear will never happen again until it does and then again. There are a few unexpected wrists and turns in the story as well,as the delightful and very different characters to get to know in the four sisters. I thoroughly recommend this book for any romance reader not just those who enjoy the age gap trope.

When Harley and her sisters open the door at her father's house at the start of his party, she is stunned to see Grant, his best friend. The attraction is instantaneous and mutual. Trying to avoid each other they find themselves alone in the treehouse. Determined that it won't happen again they find that they just can't stay away from each. When Harley's mother suddenly reappears and her husband wants a piece of Grant's business and Harley's dad finds out what has been happening, life seems to start spiralling out of control. A beautifully written and heartwarming story that will captivate you throughout.

I enjoyed this book. I listened to the audiobooks for Callie Stevens' The Hawthorns and loved them, so I had to check out this new series. An age gap, dad's best friend romance. The suspense over the drama from family/friends adds a yummy layer of tension. I liked both Harley and Grant. The attraction between them was at first sight. I loved Harley's relationship with her sisters, and Grant with his.
Jessica Schly and Stefan Cordova did a good job narrating this audiobook. I loved Jessica's voicing Harley and her sisters. They really give off that teasing, antagonizing, loving vibe and I found myself smiling at them. I liked the tone of Stefan's voice and thought he suited Grant well.
I recommend you read this extraordinary book by Callie. Harley is a younger woman and has eyes on her dad's best friend Grant. After they have sex in her tree house during the 4th of July party, they can't seem to get enough of each other. So, when they vow to not see each other again in fears of hurting Harley's dad Kent after what happened between him, and his ex-wife things start to get complicated. This book has you cheering for Harley and Grant, and I think the ending is absolutely perfect. This is a much-read book.

Callie Stevens has added another steamy love collection to her list of great stories. Silver Fox's Secret Baby is wonderful way to introduce the Solace Sisters. The Solace sisters have stuck with their father after their mother left them all. While each sister has matured with their own struggles, Harley has managed to reach great respect in her job, but lacking in her love life. She is drawn to older men, but has been burned once. She takes another chance with Grant Nevill hoping this time will be different. They fight their attraction because of his connection to her father.

This is an excellent start to the Solace Sisters series. Getting to know the other characters adds depth and enjoyment to the story.
Harley, having been away for a number of years, opens the door to her father's best friend, Grant to be unexpectedly and instantly stunned. Grant is equally effected and the two grab a moment.
What they swear will be a one time thing is too engrossing to give up.
An absorbing and entertaining romance between two genuinely likeable characters. A real page turner and am now eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

Harley was shocked to see her dad’s best friend after such a long time. They were instantly attracted to each and sparks were flying. In fact sparks flew so high that during the fireworks these two were intimate. As much as they try to fight their attraction they can’t. Just as if things couldn’t get worse Harley’s mother and the man she ran off with come back to town. Harley dis overs she is pregnant and decides not to tell Grant. Harley doesn’t want to hurt her father if he finds out she was involved with his best friend. This was an enjoyable story about the Solace sisters I loved that family support.
I really enjoyed reading Silver Fox’s Secret Baby(The Solace Sisters)!!! All about Harley Solace a women in her mid-twenties who hosts a radio show & Grant Neville who is in his fifties and owns a communication platform and is my dad’s BFF. Grant is a billionaire and him and my dad have been friends since freshman year of college. So he’s been around for all of our life’s ups & downs. Read about Grant & Harley and see what unique circumstances brings them together, and keep them tethered for life!! Lots of emotions and plenty of toe curling incidents occur! Definite Read!!!!!
Harley is a strong independent woman that works as a radio segment broadcaster. Grant is Harley's Dad's best friend since college. Neither really believes in love but the universe keeps bringing them together after their one night stand on the 4th of July. Harley finds out she's pregnant but decided to be a single Mom to not mess up Grant and her Dad's relationship. After a medical problem Harley's secret is out and her Dad and Grant came to blows. Grant and Harley decide to be together once they confess their love for each other, this helps patch Grant and her Dad's relationship. Spice was a 3. Super cute quick read!
Another wonderful book by Callie Stevens. We get the story of Harley and Grant he is her father's best friend. And when they meet at the 4th of July party there is not only fireworks in the sky but also between the two of them. After spending some hot and steamy moments during the 4th of July, they are both a bit hesitant to move on and leave it at this one time. Because what will her father say if he finds out. This is a book you should definitely read.

Wowsa this book is absolutely fantastic and will definitely have you hooked from the beginning until the end and the storyline flows throughout the book. Harley hasn't seen her dad's best friend Grant in over 10 years but when he attends his best friends 4th of July party its more than fireworks that sparks fly but when secrets come out will it destroy everyone involved? Great story and absolutely love the chemistry between the characters.

This is Book 1 in the Solace Sisters Series by this author. It is an age gap, off limits romance between Harley and her dad's best friend, Grant. These likeable characters, the strong connection, the sizzling chemistry, and the unique plot make for an entertaining read. What starts out as a one time hook up turns into something more. It is a love story with some drama, angst, family dynamic, twists and turns, and appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. An engaging page turner.
