A teen edition of the top-selling volume Conversations with God examines the concerns shared by many of today's young people while addressing questions that teens may ask of God, offering guidance on building healthy relationships, accepting responsibility, and acquiring self-esteem.
Neale Donald Walsch is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. With an early interest in religion and a deeply felt connection to spirituality, Neale spent the majority of his life thriving professionally, yet searching for spiritual meaning before beginning his now famous conversation with God. His With God series of books has been translated into 34 languages, touching millions of lives and inspiring important changes in their day-to-day lives.
In addition to authoring the renowned With God series, Neale has published 16 other works, as well as a number of video and audio programs. Available throughout the world, each of the CwG dialogue books has made the New York Times Bestseller list, Conversations with God-Book 1 occupying that list for over two and half years.
The With God Series has redefined God and shifted spiritual paradigms around the globe. In order to deal with the enormous response to his writings, Neale created the Conversations with God Foundation, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to inspiring the world to help itself move from violence to peace, from confusion to clarity, and from anger to love.
Neale's work has taken him from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peters Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China. And everywhere he has gone-from South Africa to Norway, Croatia to The Netherlands, the streets of Zurich to the streets of Seoul, Neale has found a hunger among the people to find a new way to live, at last, in peace and harmony, and he has sought to bring people a new understanding of life and of God which would allow them to experience that."
This is a horrible book for teens or for anyone for that matter. Just the thought that this man has the audacity to presume what God would say is appalling to me, but to then twist the words of the Bible to turn answers into something that people just want to hear to make them feel better about the sin that they are committing. One girl asks, "Why am I a lesbian?", his answer is that she was 'born that way' because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with brown eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences. My mouth hit the floor!!! It clearly states in the Bible that homosexuality is an abomination and a horrible sin. Clearly this is not what God would say to that question. Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply? "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive... There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is 'judge not lest ye be judged'." THAT is a perfect example of twisting the words of the Bible. I would NEVER recommend this book to anyone and I plan to tell everyone I know to steer clear of it. Clearly this is Satan at his finest. It is clearly NOT OK!!!
This version of the book for teens covers most of the topics in the first four books, in one concise easy to understand book. Here are some highlights:
We create our reality, not God. We create this through our thoughts, which create our words, which create our actions. Our beliefs create our behavior and our behavior create our life experience. If you want to change your life, you need to change your underlying beliefs about your life. Religion is a institution created by humans. Spirituality is an experience. Religion has done more to separate people on the planet than anything else. We are all one. God, love, life are all different words for the same thing. We were created with original power, not original sin. The purpose of power is not to control, but to create. We are here to create, through our life, through love. Divinity exercises power within, not over the universe.
This book has been life changing. I have read it many times, and it is, simply put, amazing. I recomend it to everyone. It has taught me many lessons and changed the way I look at the world. I would like to thank this book for falling into my hands and changing me.
Aside from its controvesial part, I think it's also a book that would be good for any teen looking for spiritual answers.
Our teens face an onslaught of anti-God rhetoric from our culture every day of their lives. This rhetoric comes at them from television, movies, books, magazines, and even from the schools they attend. Many Christian teens feel overwhelmed when faced with the questions non-believers ask them. This book answers many of those questions in a way that will appeal to the mind of a teen or young adult.
This book is not a book of fluff or shallow answers. It tackles many of the more difficult questions concerning the differences between a biblical worldview and a secular worldview.
I have read Walsch's "Conversations with God" series for adults, and although I am not a teen, I was intrigued to enter the First Reads contest for this title to see how he would relate life concepts to teens. I have to admit that I actually really enjoyed this title, at times more than the adult series. It was very simple, straightforward, and practical. The author doesn't explicitly share what he believes as what is "right" versus what is "wrong", but instead provides insight into how teens can deal with many of these struggles that they deal with on a day-to-day or one-time only basis. It was a refreshing read, and even helped me to re-evaluate some of the ideas I thought that I had overcome. Overall, great piece of work and worth reading for any teen.
This book was given to me, and it is horrible. Walsch’s premise is that when God made people he broke himself into pieces, therefore we are all little gods and we get to decide what is right and wrong for ourselves. I can’t think of a more un-Biblical philosophy.
For example, he says: “Obedience is not creation. It is an act of subservience, not an act of power. God is not subservient to anyone, and since you are a part of God, you are, by nature, not subservient to anyone, either.” Contrast that to Jeremiah 7:23 (and countless other verses) where God says "However, I did give them this command: 'Obey me, and then I will be your God, and you will be my people. Follow every way I command you so that it may go well with you.'”
Or see 1 John 5:3-4 “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.”
The premise of the book is such a lie that what follows is rotten to the core as well. I will be throwing this book away so at least no teens can be lied to by this one copy.
this book has been really inspiring book for teenagers i learned many things.this book cleared my doubts about life, god, drugs etc.it was really interesting book but some part of it was a bit boring.
It says "for teens", but I really think it needs to say "for older teens". Some of the things discussed in this book were way over my head when I was a teen, though I was a tad sheltered... I am now 24 and some of the topics still make me uncomfortable.
Interesting concept towards spiritualism. I like the fact where the author accepts questions and answers them in an apt manner. My first ever book that i read.
This has become my all time favorite now. One of the best spirituality book ever read, surely it is not enough to absorb the innumerous 'Golden words' spoken by the God in a single read; that not only gave new perspective to life but also a spiritual discovery of soul. I had this book on my shelf from school days but as author said, this goes to the one who needs it and yes, this was the time when I needed it most and it naturally came to me. I know now who am I and who God is and how I am a part or God and God is a part of me. And also I feel it is so unfortunate that people have changed the real meaning of God. There is a big difference between religion and spirituality that God explains very nicely. Also, explanation on prayer and the method to get connected to God was beyond words. That actually resonates what I too feel about. The best part was on Love and the true meaning of 'I Love You' and I actually got shudder when I read it! Concept of Holistic living, i.e, Body, Mind and Spirit living, was totally a new concept to readers. Lastly, the take home message was that God is not bad at all and we aren't going to hell. Like our religions potray about God that he will punish us if we do bad things! But the truth is right or wrong don't exists as absolutes. But the one thing I couldn't find answer about is - 'Karma' and 'Injustice'. Hope to find in Mr Walsch's other books. I would conclude by saying : We have free will, we create circumstances, we create destiny.
I really loved the theme and the concept of the book. The way the author answered all the questions even the counter questions of the teens patiently with proper patience and attention is just amazing! The author made it so easy to understand what the real concept of God, religion and everything related with it. I really loved it how the author explained everything in simple language. The title is really appropriate with the content. The cover is just so beautiful. Overall, a good one!
I couldn't even get through the book because it is just hogwash. In my opinion the author is trying to play God. Need to have a conversation with God? I suggest you dig into your Bibles. That is where you will get your answers.
My first Ebook read. Conversations with God for Teens highlights key points from the COG trilogy in a very simplistic manner. A cool approach to a remarkable series!
