When a sassy software sales rep stumbles upon corporate espionage, which leads to murder, she teams up with a sexy co-worker to uncover the truth, a partnership that leads to danger and uncontrollable desire. Original.
Another AMAZING tale, way to go, Mrs. Hubbard! You really finished the Winters' Series with a "BIG BANG"!!! I tried to prolong the reading, knowing that it was the last in the series, but it was such a page-turner, it was hard to put it down, and if I didn't have to sleep, which was only an excuse for me to keep the tale going as long as possible, I would have finished it in 1 day instead of the 2 1/2 that it took.~~~~~~~Again, the character development is phenomenal. Through Chiara's tale you have given us even more insight and depth into the personalities of the Winters family and friends and even their enemies.~~~~~~~And I love a good mystery/romance and your storyline flowed effortlessly. Even with the detailed computer lingo, you were able to keep the reader interested without becoming too bogged down with confusing information. I enjoyed the humorous confusion you threw in their with Kyla, which kept the dialogue from being too boring and too stuffy.~~~~~~~The romance between John and Chiara was very sweet, the flashbacks provided great insight into their relationship. Theirs was a very comfortable love affair. They knew each other since they were little kids, playing in the park on Sunday mornings. Their connection and bond to each other only grew stronger through the years. Their passion and desire was still intense even after being together for so long.~~~~~~~Mrs. Hubbard touched on so many different issues throughout this novel, corporate espionage, privacy violations, computer technology, murder, functional and dysfunctional families, and even child abuse. Her novels are always filled with such romance, humor, sisterly love, family devotion, as well as the well intentioned family interferences. This novel definitely has something for everyone. And for me all the characters, from the children to the adults, from the friends to the enemies are all quite memorable. This story is one I won't soon forget! Looking forward to reading more from, Mrs. Hubbard. And thanks for the autographed copy, I will treasure it always.
Chiara is on the run. She suspects that her partner has been killed for the secrets of a missing computer chip, and she might be in the villain's cross hairs. Understandably spooked, she comes back to St Louis to be with John Mahoney, the man who's always been there for her - and then some. In addition to the computer chip, she has unfinished emotional business back home - can she square things off and escape the clutches of those who wish to get the computer chip - by any means necessary?
This is the third and final book in the 'only you' series. I found myself sympathising with Chiara. Her four sisters have it together are more or less a complete unit, and are quite bossy despite themselves, and you understand why Chiara had to run so far so fast. The relationship between Chiara and John is interesting - and really, really, really deep. I found myself being emotionally invested in their friendship because it was so layered - you find out how much so as you read on. To be fair, the 'suspense' part wasn't so suspenseful in the sense that, although malevolence lingered on the margins of the pages, it didn't snake out its tentacles enough time for me to be worrying about the characters, you know?
The main short coming of the book was the Winters family - you had Chiara's four sisters, plus their spouses, and their children, then John's parents to contend with. As a result, the book felt 'crowded', particularly when you had family meetings and Sunday dinners (which was... a lot of the time). I guess the writer did this to show how stifling Chiara's family could be. Lord knows, I'd want a country of my own after growing up as a Winters.
Overall, a good read. Although it can be read on its own, you'll get a better grounding of Chiara and her story if you read the other 'you' books.
I freely admit to not being impressed with this book in the beginning. The intrigue dragged and felt forced in part because Chiara was so secretive about her own personal life that everything felt overly dramatic. That said, I enjoyed the twist of reading about a love that is firmly established. Throughout, I had no doubt about how John and Chiara felt about one another- Hubbard illustrated it beautifully. The Winters were a charming family and I enjoyed reading about all of them as well, so overall a pleasant read.
It kind of creep me out because there was a guy that was going after Chiara and John. Chiara got hurt badly and I'm glad that the baby wasn't hurt. John didn't get hurt because he was the one that hurt the guy.
