C.S. Lewis's The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe has been a fantasy classic for more than fifty years and is now a major motion picture!
Peter Pevensie must keep his sisters, Susan and Lucy, and his brother, Edmund, from harm while their father is at war and their mother is back in London. The children are sent to Professor Kirke's house in the country for safety. There they discover an old wardrobe is the portal to the land of Narnia, which has been waiting one hundred years for Peter and his brother and sisters. Once they step through, they are caught in a battle against the evil White Witch. Are they really destined to be Kings and Queens of Narnia?
A gorgeous abridged, retelling of the classic children's story "The lion, the witch and the wardrobe." Aimed at a slightly younger age group than the original novel it has all the elements of the original and leaves nothing of the story out. Highlighted throughout with scenes from the Disney movie it's a lovely way to introduce kids to the Chronicles of Narnia series. A great read.
This is an abridged version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe book and movie, told from Peter's perspective. Due to it being only 62 pages, it does feel like the story is being rushed, moving on to the next thing before you have time to digest the last thing mentioned. This is definitely for children who would be too young for the actual novel. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this quick read!
Seriously, these Narnia tie-in books do nothing more than retell the story that C.S. Lewis masterfully spun decades ago.
If you enjoyed the film version, go find the original book; while fairly well-written, this is nothing more than a cash grab...which is to be expected from Disney.
A nice sweet abridged version of the The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Nothing special or extra, just that it has some black and white stills from the movie.
My daughter (age 9) thinks that this Peter book is good, but she thinks it needs more about the fight. She loves the bit where Peter meets Aslan. And she’s looking forward to reading more.
This book was quite interesting to read because the Pevensies' adventures in Narnia are written from Peter's perspective. But on the other hand, I feel like in the movie, we pretty much get to see most of what Peter is thinking, or how he feels about certain things, that's why I'm giving it three stars. (Giving this book 3/5 stars doesn't mean I don't like the actual character.)
I thought "Narnia-Peter's Destiny" was a really good book and was just like the film, the film is called "The Chronicals of Narnia-The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe." It is the first "Narnia" and it is all about four evacuated children called Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy who get evacuated to the country-side and start living with the professer and his house wife. When they played hide and seek one day when it was raining, Lucy finds a wardrobe in the spare room and hides in it, she moves back away from all the fluffy coats and falls over into a strange wood full of soft snow. But when she comes out and tells her family they don't belive her and starts to cry. But a few days later when they play baseball, the kids break a suit of armor and try to run away from the housewife and hide in the wardrobe and they all arrive in the snowy forest in Narnia and Peter, Susan and Edmund feel quite guilty!!!
Edmund,Peter,Lucy ,and Susan are sent from London to protect them from harm of war . They are evacuated to Professor Kirke's house where they come across a wardrobe that is much more then it seems. Here our adventure begins. This book is a must read for any fans of the Narnia series.
This is an abridged version of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', written from Peter's point of view. Some children might like it and the pictures from the film are great, but I'd always recommend reading the original.
