A good fun book. This is almost a prequel to The Regiment series (Tswa series) and has many things in common. In fact in the back of that series, there is a time line which includes things from this book they are so tied together.
This book, while having many similarities to the other series, is quite different in it's own right as well. Gone from it is the high technology (gunpowder is some of the highest stuff they've got) and much of the T'sel is gone too only to show up in brief snippets of things done by Sages and such, almost much more of a religion than in the other series.
Still.... I enjoyed it.
