Bridget and the Moose Brothers

Rate this book
Can moose be Bridget's brothers?

Bridget is fed up with being an only child -- it's too quiet. If she just had a brother or a sister, she wouldn't feel so lonely. One day Bridget comes home to discover some moose sitting outside her building, and she decides to try them out as brothers. But the moose brothers don't turn out to be the sort of siblings she had in mind. Maybe peace and quiet is okay after all . . .
This follow-up to Bridget and the Gray Wolves and Bridget and the Muttonheads is riotously funny and wild and will once again have readers both young and old laughing at Pija Lindenbaum's hilarious illustrations and Bridget's winning personality.

Charming Mellow Mayhem

This book gives Daniel Pinkwater's polar bears, (Irving and Muktuk: Two Bad Bears, Bad Bears in the Big City: An Irving & Muktuk Story), a run for their money.

Bridget would like to have a sibling - brother or sister, older or younger - no matter. When she finds the three Moose Brothers hanging out in front of her building she invites them home to let them audition as fill-in siblings. It does not go well.

The entire book works. The color wash suits the drawing style which complements the story which is carried by mild misbehavior and mayhem. The narrative is just deadpan enough to highlight the moose shenanigans, and Bridget's attempts to cope with these unruly guests actually hint in an exaggerated way at what real siblings might be like. The book is fun; it's funny; it makes a delightful treat. Very nice for a little reader with a taste for unruly humor.

An interesting way to teach kids to be thankful for the people in their life they have, and to be careful what you wish for.

Also, it’s funny how things are translated sometimes: the kids go sledding on SAUCERS which I found funny.

This book is definitely interesting, especially with the surprise ending of the Bridget picking up moose poop and an illustration of a bucket of moose poop.

Suffers from translation problems, I think. Some parts don't quite make sense. Still, it's funny.

I've gotta give at least 3 stars for a book that ends with the protagonist picking up moose turds in her room.

Stāsts par to, kā negribēt brāļus. It kā asprātīgi, bet valoda varētu būt patīkamāka.

Smieklīgie Alņu brāļi. Citāts: "Ei, tas izskatās pēc mana brālēna, saka viens no brāļiem, atradis zem paklāja zebru". Kā Tu nesmiesies?

Pija Lindenbaumin kirjat kolahtavat täydellisesti siihen lokeroon, jossa yhdistyy hauska kuvitus ja mielikuvituksellinen tarina pienistä asioista, joista saadaan suuria ja merkityksellisiä.
