Historische Stedenatlassen

Rate this book

Coffee table book with short articles about the changes in The Netherlands. Nice read every now and then. Not really a cover to cover read, although the interested reader certainly would get a good insight of my country

I need to redo my shelves on here, because none of my categories really work well for this book, but it was definitely worth getting. It's more a reference than a narrative, since each chapter is a couple of pages of maps and history of a different topic in the history of the Dutch built environment, understood broadly enough to include the physical environment as well. But I definitely learned a significant amount, and it was useful for helping to get to know the place I'm living. I'd like to read the book in the series about the city I'm in as well, but it's in Dutch, so that will have to wait until my knowledge of the language significantly increases.
