ABCs with Musical Instruments from Around the World
I've reviewed several ABC books by this author. I like how he creates letter-learning books on different themes. This book is all about musical instruments. Unlike other books of his I’ve reviewed, this book’s pages are full bleed. It is one of his more straightforward books as well, as he just provides simple information about each instrument, not trying to make it rhyme, sound poetic, or be clever in any way. Illustrations vary between cartoonish and whimsically realistic. The book features musical instruments from around the world. I've been a musician for a long time and play several instruments, yet I had not heard of some of these. This is definitely a book intended to be read by a parent or caregiver to the child, as the word choices are more advanced than children learning their ABCs would recognize. If you have a child who is interested in music and is learning their ABCs, she or he may appreciate a letter-learning book like this one.
