She includes acknowledged masters such as Ehret and Redouté as well as lesser-known examples from China, Japan, and India.

In addition to their intrinsic beauty, plant illustrations have mirrored the curious and fascinating relationship between art and science. Beautifully illustrated "History of Botanical Illustration." The actual subtitle says it's a "Analytical History....", but I found relatively little in the way of analysis here (more straight history and visual description). Nice, thorough introductions to florilegia, botanical treatises, illustration through the centuries, herbaria, etc.
