With Drew Sander, the only person in their hometown of Tetumka, Oklahoma who will help her, Chantalene battles the hostility of the town and her own memories to find the men who murdered her father when she was a child.
Marcia Preston (M.K. Preston) grew up on a wheat farm in central Oklahoma. From her father she learned the art of storytelling; from her mother, a reverence for books; and from Oklahoma's red earth, a love of wildlife and the outdoors.
This book was ruined by the absolutely appalling audio version it jumped more than a child skipping rope and I had to keep rewinding to get the full narrative. To be fair that was nothing to write home about either. I wont be reading any more
Quick entertaining mystery read with likable characters. The ending fell a bit short for me. I’d read another one of hers, looks like there’s a book 2 with some of the same characters. Might recommend.
I was really surprised by this book, I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. I would totally recommend this book if your thinking about reading it. :)
(3.5 stars) This is a fairly short mystery novel which tells the story of mid-20's main character Chantalene who returns to her home town 12 years after the lynching of her father in order to confront her demons, as well as the person(s) guilty of the crime. In turn, she discovers what happened to her mother who disappeared shortly after. Enjoyable enough, this is a good weekend read.
I really enjoyed this book. The main character is strong and wants answers. Unfortunately, people are dying (literally) to keep the truth a secret. With a little help from a man who returns to the community she finds out more than she bargained for. Well written and intriguing. I recommend this book if you want something that is hard to put down.
A good mystery read. The character has a few "lusty thoughts", but nothing eye popping. I really enjoy this author. This is the first book she ever published. I particullary enjoy her talent for description. She really gets a movie running in your head.
