This was a cute romance set in a small town featuring a celebrity assistant and a grumpy guy who ends up becoming her enemy. It isn't really a strong enemies to lovers tho because they're not really enemies per se, I mean she works for the enemy, but they hit it off SO WELL since the beginning. It's just that small complication of her working with his uncle, who he hates, that makes her his enemy.

I dropped one star because why is Johnny Depp getting mentioned in a book? Like not gonna lie that quickly make me want to DNF the book right away. Like what was the reason!!!!! That scene could have been easily deleted, no joke. So yeah.

I wish the groveling/third-act breakup scene was longer and didn't take 3 seconds for them to be happy again. You know me, yall, I love when they work for the groveling/reunion moment. I don't want them to forgive easily lmao.

There are a few things here and there that made me question the thought process of each of those things, so that's why it's a 3-star read. It could be a 2-star read but I did have fun reading about Jake and Cassidy. They were cute protagonists, although some phrases/quotes were kinda cringy. But it was cute!

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 That cover—I just wanna touch it.
🤩 New series, first in series.
🤩 Read the blurb—it’s romcom plot perfection.
🤩 Take me to Ugly Mug so I can people watch! I’m in love with Cherry Blossom Lake. If you’re in your small-town era, this is for you.
🤩 Laugh-out-loud meet-cute! It’s unique and memorable and shows so much characterization.
🤩 Other super funny family fun.
🤩 Fabulous physical attraction, so creatively described.
🤩 Jake is total book boyfriend material and “alpha lumberjack rescuer hero hottie.”
🤩 Cassidy is an amazing daughter, sister, and employee.
🤩 I looooove how Jake reads Cassidy, especially her naughty thoughts.
🤩 The banter, the flirting—it’s what small-town romcom dreams are made of.
🤩 Pirate fantasies come true with Captain Crankypants!
🤩 See my steamy teaser on TikTok or IG—they are so stinkin’ hot together.
🤩 Grand gestures all around.

What I’m Wishing/ Dizzy About:
💫 I’d like a little more physical closeness, especially after the drama. Maybe just one more steamy scene. It helps me believe in the HEA.
💫 I’m clean. Do you trust me? It’s not smart and I’m just never sure about it in my books.

A wonderful series start!

I really enjoyed Cassidy and Jake's opposites attract romance. Their banter was great, the sexual tension even better, and OMG the way he truly *got* her? Might have been the sexiest thing of all. Seriously, every time they were having a disagreement, I 100% expected him to double down on his opinion/idea/way of doing things being the right one, but without fail (OK, until we get to the black moment) he was the one to take a step back and look at things from her POV. Even the times he came into the convo ready to burst with righteous indignation, he managed to pull himself from the brink and understand where she was coming from. It was total #couplegoals, for sure.

But then there's that black moment...

I mean, you can see it coming. You're pretty sure what is going to cause it fairly early on, and OMG it seems like it's going to be something that they're (read: Jake) not going to be able to get past. After all, they're both motivated by their love for and need to take care of their families, and it seems like what's best for one family will hurt the other, so...yeah.

(Side note: the family dynamics on both sides here are GOLD. I absolutely cannot wait for Jake's siblings to all get their stories, and hope that Cassidy's are going to at least make some appearances as we go along)

But once again--after getting over his butthurt feelings--Jake pulls himself together and gives us an EPIC grand gesture. And a lovely epilogue.

(Quite frankly, I think every grand gesture could benefit from a really good tuna melt, but maybe that's just me? And now, if you'll excuse me--I'm feeling kind of hungry...)

In typical Fenske fashion, this rom com is full of heart and hilarity, with a family you absolutely cannot help but fall in love with and a cast of delightfully over the top supporting cast. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Heartwarming and swoony romance

The banter. The sexual tension. The secrets. The family drama. The feels. I loved it all. I loved Jake and Cassidy in this opposites attract, family betrayal romance of all the things. They are portrayed as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as messy humans. Their story will give you all the swoony swoons while also pulling at your heartstrings with all the emotions - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering. Cassidy is a personal assistant to a megarich and famous Hollywood couple. She also takes care of a medically fragile sister and a mom with relationship issues. Jake is the oldest of 6 siblings who works as a fisherman and charter boat captain. His family drama relates to his uncle stealing his family land and selling it off piece by piece to the rich. They meet when Cassidy moves for her work into Jake’s small town. There is a lot of baggage to unpack for both Jake and Cassidy to get to their HEA and it’s a heartwarmingly painful journey to get there. But the end is so worth it. This well written story was delicious perfection and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. The book was filled with sweet moments, steamy scenes, real life issues, imperfect characters, painful pasts, laughs, messy families, missteps, and all the swoony love. 4.5 stars. I am excited to read the love story of the next Spencer-King sibling.

"Wanna walk my plank?"

Try Me by Tawna Fenske is a small-town, opposites-attract, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy that will have you laughing, crying, and swooning.

The story follows Cassidy Brooks, a successful assistant to a wealthy couple, who moved to Cherry Blossom, Oregon, with her family.
And Jake Spencer-King, a local fisherman who owns a bait shop and is determined to protect his town from the wealthy outsiders who are buying up all the land -
Land that should have belonged to his family
And yes those wealthy outsiders would be Cassidy's employers

When Cassidy and Jake meet, they clash immediately. They're from different worlds, and they don't see eye to eye on anything. But as they spend more time together, they start to see each other in a new light. They realize that they have more in common than they thought

These two!!
Yeah I'm still riding that HEA high
This is the first story for the Spencer-King siblings
Jake and Cassidy's romance

I had so much fun with the siblings
Jake's family and Cassidy's mom and sister

This story has it all :
A solid running back story for the series
Humor
Family
More humor
Some light angst
Small town vibes
A very relatable loveable and loathable cast
Steamy Smexy Sweet as sugar romance
Pirates
And the cutest of HEAs

I was excited to get a copy of this book to review because I enjoy Tawna Fenske's writing, but I just couldn't finish it. There was so much focus on sex in the first 15% that it became overwhelming, and I had to stop reading, worried the entire book would be the same. It's a shame because I liked Jake and Cassidy and would have loved to see how their story unfolded.

TRY ME is the first instalment in Tawna Fenske’s contemporary, adult CHERRY BLOSSOM LAKE erotic, romance series focusing on the Spencer-King siblings. This is bait shop owner/crabber Jake Spencer-King, and PA Cassidy Brooks’ story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jake and Cassidy) TRY ME follows the building romance and relationship between bait shop owner/crabber Jake Spencer-King, and PA Cassidy Brooks. Cassidy is the professional assistant and planner to the uber rich Judson family, and as such is issued perks that are often misinterpreted by others. The day before a large party, Cassidy’s mother and sister are no where to be found, and Cassidy finds herself in need of help. Enter Jake Spencer-King, who upon delivering a generator is mistaken for the hired help. Offering to help, Jake has no idea as to the secrets of Cassidy’s life, a life that is somewhat similar to his own. The sins of the parents and the past have forced each child upon a different path in life, and it is these paths that will push our story line couple together. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Cassidy and Jake, and the potential fall-out when a history of betrayal and lies, resurfaces pulling Cassidy into the middle of the fray.

The world building introduces the Spencer-King siblings, and some of the back story and secrets about a town once controlled by the Spencer-Kings. All is not well; the family dynamic between generations has been fractured, and the Spencer-King siblings are paying the price for someone else’s greed and powers.

We are introduced the colorful and determined Spencer-King siblings: Kaleb, Lucy, her twin Mason, and Parker, and their father; their uncle Owen Spencer; Cassidy’s sister Zoe, and their mother Ruby Brooks, as well as Cassidy’s employers Shirleen and Laurence Judson.

The relationship between Cassidy and Jake begins acrimoniously. Jake is quick to misjudge Cassidy, believing she is part of the local aristocracy aka rich; and Cassidy believes Jake is part of the hired help, amusement to entertain the local snobs. As Jake and Cassidy begin circling one another, someone else is threatening the plans of the Spencer-King siblings. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

TRY ME is a story of family and relationships, secrets and lies, greed and power, misunderstanding, forgiveness and love. The premise is heartwarming and animated ; the romance is spicy and passionate-the sexual tension is palpable; the characters are dynamic and inspiring.

Book one in a brand-new series is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. There are themes and mysteries introduced in this book that will continue throughout the series. As a result, this series is going to be best read in order.
Jake is the eldest of the Spencer-King siblings, and his book is the first in this new series. His heroine is Cassidy Brooks, who readers may have met before if they read the Juniper Ridge series. She is the uber-efficient personal assistant to Laurence and Shirleen Judson. Jake is cranky. His fishing season is shut down and he is getting creative to keep a livelihood while dealing with family drama and loss. What he does have is a tight relationship with all of his siblings and his dad. I adore the family dynamics and the banter between the siblings. It felt very real to me. Cassidy has some family drama too. Her sister is sick, and her mom makes questionable choices in men while Cassidy tries her best to take care of everything and everyone. I really love the relationship she has with her mom and with her sister. I appreciate that she accepts her mom and her choices for what they are without judgement. I love her efficient can-do attitude. I love her professionalism and discretion in a job where it counts.
Jake and Cassidy have a laugh-out-loud meet-cute that had me giggling. There are steamy moments, a pirate fantasy worth noting, and a fast and deep emotional connection between the characters. I adore the mature (mostly) way that Cassidy and Jake communicate. I love how they can read each other’s emotions and don’t hesitate to call each other out. The grand gesture had me smiling from ear to ear and I adore a good grand gesture. Jake gives good grovel.
This book exemplifies some of the things that this author does very well. She has created a solid world in this small town and set a formidable foundation for this series while delivering well-rounded characters, an intriguing plot, and a swoony HEA. To say I am excited to read the rest of this series is a huge understatement. And the cover is gorgeous on top of all that.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

It’s always a cause for celebration when Tawna Fenske begins a new series (I’ve read them all, along with all her other stand-alone books), and Try Me, the first book of her new Cherry Blossom Lake series is a fantastic start!
This series focuses on the Spencer-King siblings, and first up is the oldest brother, Jake. Jake and his siblings are fighting with their uncle, smarmy real estate agent Owen, to keep the land promised to them by their grandfather. Much of the land on Cherry Blossom Lake has been sold to the uber-wealthy who are building mansions on the lake, much to the dismay and heartache of the Spencer-King siblings. That’s how Jake meets Cassidy Brooks, the personal assistant to one of the new homeowners, Shirleen & Laurence Judson (the Judson siblings are the focus of the Juniper Ridge series, which I also highly recommend). Jake mistakenly thinks that Cassidy is also one of the “rich folks,” and a great “enemies to lovers” rollercoaster ride begins. We also learn that Cassidy has her own family issues, including supporting her mom Ruby, and younger sister Ruby, who is battling medical issues.
Ms. Fenske writes characters who are so real—flaws and all—and I came to love and admire them because of their flaws! In Ms. Fenske’s very capable hands, there is one character in particular, Ruby, who could have easily become a caricature, but as the story progressed, became, like the others, three-dimensional and a genuine joy. The dialogue is quick-fire, witty, touching, and leaps off the page. I loved the banter among the Spencer-King siblings, who joke a lot, but are there for each other through thick and thin. As for Jake and Cassidy, the chemistry is red hot, and it’s lovely to watch them lower their barriers to get to their HEA! What I also love is that Ms. Fenske creates an entire world, not just a “he meets she” story line. As she has done again in Try Me, she also weaves in family dynamics, relationships between siblings and parents and children. I’m looking forward to returning to Cherry blossom Lake soon for the next sibling story! I received an advanced reader copy, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin! This book was short and sweet and relaxing, and in the most stereotypical and traditional way possible… Romantic!

However, this book just did not hit the spot. It felt like watching a Netflix show where the characters are not described, their reasoning, their thoughts and their personalities are not fleshed out… it all seem to be lacking substance!

Cassidy was a very fun character, whose personality was very vibrant and throughout the book when she has altercations with Jake, you see other sides of a personality, come out how confrontational she can be, and how she is able to stand her ground and not give in! But Jake, though… I mean the only thing I can figure out about that character is that he's a dude who wants his property back and gets really angry really fast... oh and also seems to believe that he's owed information.

And and the way Cassidy and Jake just end up becoming a thing… Doesn't quite make sense like we're saying that one tiny road trip to a town, Three hours away was all it took for them to have unbelievable chemistry, and instantly fall head over heels?!?! They felt really rushed or they became a couple for the sake that this is a romantic book and there needs to be a couple.

I firmly believe that every book, or every story, whether romantic or otherwise, should always have some kind of a conflict… Yet the conflict in this book felt unresolved lasted roughly, 5 pages, there was no climax, and the best part about the book is Cassidy personality! It's not even the couple themselves or their love! Although the whole running bit about the Pirates was quite funny!

This is a series that I will be finishing because I feel that the story is not fully written… I'm hoping there's a good payoff.

Try Me is the first book in the Cherry Blossom Lake series, which is a laugh out loud good time. This book picks up where Juniper Ridge leaves off and it was so much fun seeing characters from that series again.

The wires get crossed between Jake and Cassidy from the get go, he thinks she is part of the rich and famous world, where she just works for them. The Judson's hired Cassidy to be their personal assistant, plan parties, and basically run their lives. Jake and his siblings are trying to purchase their family land back from their uncle who is selling it off to build houses on to make millions of dollars. Instead of following his father's wish and separating the land off for the kids and grand kids.

The interactions between Jake and his siblings is fun and you can tell they have a strong bond with one another. Together they are goof-balls and help each other out whenever it is needed. Cassidy is readily accepted by them, her mom Ruby comes off as co-dependent with man problems. However, she realizes she messed up raising her children, but she was trying to make a safe life for them growing up. She tells Cassidy she wishes she was as strong as she is.

While Jake and Cassidy are complete opposites, they have similarities as well and a romance quickly begins growing between them. The characters in this book seem realistic and easy to relate to. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see where this series goes.

What a great book! I’ve missed Tawna Fenske and her romantic comedy stories and she’s back with a great read with this book, Try Me. I loved the Spencer-King family with their antics and relationships among themselves and trying to save land that their uncle who they call Unfortunate is trying to take from them. I don’t even know where to start with this - the initial meeting with Jake and Cassidy is too funny and then we have the scene with Jake, Cassidy and her mom, that is also a beyond funny scene as well. We have pirates and crab rings and sabrage and at one point I felt like instead of reading a story, I was caught up in a good soap opera. We get to see Cooper and Amy and find out an update from them and be a part of the ups and downs with Jake and Cassidy especially when something happens that pretty much blows up anything good that the Spencer-King siblings were planning on, and it causes major fallout for Jake and Cassidy. With some tough love for both of them by their families, they talk and make peace, and all is well. We do, however, have a major surprise at the end of the story by Cassidy’s mom and I did not even see that coming but what she did is the biggest of grand gestures. This book ends with a huge win and good things for the Spencer-King siblings, good things for Jake and Cassidy and her mom and sister. However, I’m very intrigued to see what happens next with the opening up of an investigation. Also, some karma needs to come after Unfortunate in a big way. Can’t wait for the next book!

This is a story of overcoming prejudice and seeing the good in people. Something our couple both struggle with.

Jake has grown up in the small town that is now seeing an explosion of McMansions around its old gravel pit - rebranded as a glitzy lake to attract wealthy out-of-towners. Due to a recent and ongoing betrayal, he is understandably wary of the people occupying these vast estates. Especially when he and his siblings are struggling to secure their rightful inheritance.

Enter Cassidy, PA to one of the owners of one such McMansion. Because of her close promity to them, Jake initially lumps her in with the crowd of people he's rather see leave as soon as possible. But Cassidy has worked hard to get where she is and has her own troubles to deal with.

When they get to know each other a bit better, sparks definitely fly, but they forego in-depth conversation, which comes to bite them in the ass down the line. Because how can you fully trust someone and their motives if you don't know where they're coming from?

The book is full of witty banter and entertaining side characters in the form of Jake's siblings and Cassidy's mother and sister. And don't get me started on the sizzling attraction between our main couple - it's clear to everyone that they're into each other.

A delightful read, once again. The only thing that bugged me a bit was that sometimes things felt a bit rushed; I wouldn't have minded seeing certain scenes get more space on the pages to flesh out the backstory more.

This book was so fun to read and I truly believe it is one of the best by this author so far. It has a grumpy male, and a caring hard-working female for the lead characters. Grumpy pirate, anyone? The supporting cast of characters (which will continue in the series – this is the first book) are all portrayed so well. There is a great meet-cute to start, and a wonderful set of family on both sides. Character development is something that Tawna does with ease. I’m always thinking I feel I know the characters so well that I must be halfway through the book when I’m only a couple of chapters in. That is something that many authors don’t do well and Tawna always pulls off with ease. I also love that this book doesn’t exactly follow a romance formula, as I can often become discouraged by books that are too predictable in the path the characters navigate during their romance. One of the best surprises of this book – sexy pirate talk! I’m not talking about something as easy as “shiver me timbers” but this book has an amazing amount of pirate talk that is entertaining, funny, and at times very sexy. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. The setting of the book is great, and I am looking forward to see how it evolves. Trust me, you’ll understand more once you finish. As always there is a bunch of humor and there are always a few times I laugh out loud while reading Tawna’s books. This one is no exception! I think I may even have to re-read for Talk Like a Pirate Day in September, just for the fun of it.

From the moment he set his eyes on her Jake knew that Cassidy Blossom was someone he should steer clear of, she maybe be undeniably gorgeous, but that beautiful body of hers was wrapped up in trouble, the kind he wants no part of. She works for the enemy, the very people who are trying to steal his livelihood and family business. But then a chance encounter changes everything... and suddenly trouble never looked so good!

Try Me is a humor-filled page turner that is destined to monopolize every bit of your attention until the last page finds you. The moment that Jake and Charity first clash it's evident they have sparks, but their indifferences to one another keep them from wanting to explore anything that is so obviously there. So the sparks just keep simmering, intensifying with each additional encounter, and then one weak moment tips the scales, and those sparks finally ignite. And there is no extinguishing them, it's one hella hot moment you won't want to forget!! (Full on tablet screen steaming over kind of moment... and things just get better from there!!!) I loved every single second of this one!!

I loved my time with these two, their story had me laughing and swooning the whole way through. Their little battles, steamy stolen glances, feisty exchanges, and sweet moments were so perfectly done... and so fun to read! I highly recommend you meet these two, they will have your heart and attention the moment they wander onto the page!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Gah, I loved Jake and Cassidy’s HEA! If you’ve read Tawna Fenske’s Juniper Ridge series, you’re familiar with the Judson family. Try Me is a fabulous start to Tawna’s new Cherry Blossom Lake series! Try Me gives you a glimpse of Shirleen and Laurence Judson’s gilded celebrity lives, but focuses on their PA, Cassidy Brooks. Cassidy is a hardworking, loyal, ebullient young woman who is passionate about her work, despite constantly tiptoeing on tenterhooks while trying to please Shirleen. Jake Spencer-King is the epitome of a hometown grump. He loves two things: his family and his fishing business. When low river levels force Jake to work odd jobs, he meets the beguiling Cassidy. An awkward meet-cute, meddling siblings, and a splash of intrigue make Try Me a wonderful romcom series starter! Jake & Cassidy’s balance of grumpy/sunshine was delightful. Jake’s growly & possessive demeanor gave the hunky fisherman a panty-melting edge. Cassidy is a sweetheart nurturer, she’s always taking care of others and leaves little time or energy for herself. Jake & Cassidy help each other work through their respective issues and bring two wonderfully loving families together. Try Me is brimming with Tawna Fenske’s signature blend of wit, brilliantly bawdy dialogue, and delicious spice. I can’t wait to see where this series goes! If you’re looking for a heartfelt romcom, Tawna Fenske should be all over your TBR!

If you need a book that will make you laugh out loud then you have to read Try Me! Tawna Fenske writes some of the smartest, funniest contemporary romance currently. Cherry Blossom Lake is the fictional town where the Judson parents have landed (their adult children are in previous stories). Cassidy Brooks is the personal assistant to Shirleen Judson. Cassidy has a lot on her plate. Organizing her busy actress boss' life as well as getting her younger sister the medical care that she requires and lest we forget her mother that is wonderful but a challenge. When Cassidy mistakes local fisherman Jake Spencer-King for a performer for an event that she is planning their meeting leaves a big impression on both of them. Jake has a lot on his plate too. His business has been suffering due to drought so he has had to improvise. He and his siblings have been working on a plan to get ownership of their late grandfather's property and with developers selling Oregon land at a premium it has been a challenge. Jake isn't going to take his eye off the prize even when a beautiful woman intrigues him. Well as we all know the heart wants what the heart wants so jump in and join Jake and Cassidy and all of their family members and read Try Me. It was told from dual POV and will have you laughing for days as well as believing in HEA's.

This story deserves ten stars. It's definitely one of my favorite books of the year! Cassidy is the personal assistant to a megarich Hollywood couple Her job allows her to take care of her mother (who has a record of making bad decisions with wealthy men), and a younger sister with a rare illness. Jake is a grumpy bait shop owner and fisherman in a small coastal Oregon town. Jake and his siblings are scrabbling to try to make enough money to purchase a few acres of their grandparents’ property back from their Uncle Owen. Their Uncle has been developing and selling off the property for McMansions to buyers like Cassidy's employers. As a result, the area is becoming a trendy getaway destination for the wealthy. Jake and Cassidy’s romance has laugh-out-loud humor including pirate role-play, along with well-written adult heat and lots of heart. The book also has good supporting characters, some tears and an ongoing mystery about how the uncle managed to get ownership of the family property. I loved reading Jake and Cassidy’s dual points of view as they fall in love and work through difficulties. I can’t wait for the next book in this new series by a very talented author. I received an advance copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

A large, fun, in your face family with a collection of quirks, flaws and baggage. I love a series centred on a family - there is no one who will fight more between themselves or for each other!

Cassidy makes all Jake's warning alarms blare when they meet. He may mistakenly believe that she's some rich girl but being the personal assistant of rich people doesn't make their attraction any easier.

Jake is a bit of a reverse snob on occasion. But after realising what Owen has put Jake and his siblings through, you kind of realise he comes by his bias fairly!

The secondary characters are all well thought out and feel like real people. I was in awe of how Zoe coped with her illness - she could have gone down the woe is me victim route but she is stronger and more complex than that.

The banter is on point. The back story of the Spencer-King family is poignant and heartfelt. And Parker - oh my stars I can't wait to see more of him. The way Jake is ready to take on anyone who may disparage his brother is so sweetly Alpha!

The characters are flawed, messy and muck up occasionally. Jake can be quick to make assumptions and Cassidy sometimes unintentionally makes light of how the family feel about what was done to them. I'm still not the biggest fans of the Judson Parents - they are hard work! I'm a sucker for pets in books and Orfy will steal your heart.

Can't wait to get back to Cherry Bottom Lake aka The Pit!

I’m always happy when I get a chance to read a Tawna Fenske book. “Try Me” is a fun, quirky and laugh out loud rom-com that I could not put down once I started.

Cherry Blossom is a small town in Oregon and where the Spencer-King siblings have been living their whole lives. Slowly over time, the rich have come in building mansion on the lake. Jake owns a bait shop and meets the newest person in town, Cassidy Brooks. Cassidy is an assistant to a wealthy couple and has moved with them to Cherry Blossom with her mom and sister. Jake and Cassidy are complete opposites but have a spark that neither can deny.

I loved every chapter and moment in this book. I was smiling from the beginning, laughing throughout the whole thing, and swooning at the end. Jake is a classic grump and I loved him meeting his sunshine match in Cassidy. Their banter was so good and I loved how they were opposites but had such strong bonds with their families. Everyone in the story is so relatable and that is one of my favorite things about all the characters. It’s an instant connection with each of them that makes the story so great. Jake’s siblings are great and I can’t wait to read their stories.

I first heard about Tawna Fenske in August of 2015 when her book "About That Fling" was featured as a "Kindle First." I have fallen in love with the way that she tells a story. Her characters are fun, and even ones you may not like at first tend to grow on you. Since then, I have read anything that I have found by Tawna.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Bracelyn cousins, the Judsons. Because of this, I was glad to know that the Judson family saga would get a spin off into another series. After reading “Just For Show”, I remember being excited to read the new series starring the new characters that were intoduced. I was not disappointed.

This book made me laugh out loud, but there were also other parts that made me pretty sad. I think that is the good thing about anything I have read by Tawna Fenske. Even if the subject matter is pretty serious, you will still get a few laughs! I cannot wait to read the next books in the series and see what is next for the Spencer-Kings!

The first of the new Cherry Blossom Lake series from Tawna Fenske picks up where the Juniper Ridge series leaves off.

Cassidy Brooks is the personal assistant for Shirleen & Laurence Judson - parents of the Judson siblings. Jake Spencer-King is the eldest of the Spencer-King siblings, who feel they have been swindled out of their family heritage by the greedy uncle that sold the property the Judson’s built a new mega-mansion on.

Wires get crossed from the get go; Jake thinks Cassidy belongs in the rich and wealthy world, while he and his siblings are struggling to raise enough money to purchase the family homestead back from their uncle. Unbeknownst to him, Cassidy is the daughter of a single mom with a sister with medical issues. Her cushy PA job allows her sister to get necessary medical treatment to live a semi-normal life.

I love the interactions with both extended family members. While Cassidy’s mom initially comes off as co-dependent with serious man troubles, she eventually proves to have a steady backbone and moral compass. Jake’s family comes off as lovable goof-balls who always look out for others. Despite the differences in their lives, the attraction between Jake and Cassidy flares to life amidst the road blocks of each of their circumstances.

I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming books in this series.

Jake was very passionate about the land his uncle took away from the rest of the family because of his greed. Jake’s whole family did not have a loving mother, and spent a lot of time with their grandpa especially Jake. Needless to say Jake could be a real grouch when his uncle was brought up. I loved that his sister called him Captain Cranky Pants (as he had a boat he used for fishing)! Jake made a big mistake when he met Cassidy who worked for a Hollywood couple who was very rich. It was sad that Jake had a problem with some rich folks in the past, so he lumped them all as jerks. Unfortunately for Cassidy her mother is attracted to rich men which Jake’s Uncle Owen is one. The two have so many ups and downs and misunderstandings because they are attracted to each other and afraid to trust. There is something fishy going on with Jake’s Uncle Owen that the family tries to figure out. I encourage you to read the book. I am looking forward to the next one in the series! I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

I was excited to jump into a new series by one of my must read authors, and Try Me definitely came through.

Jake and his siblings have been the victims of their smarmy uncles wheelings and dealings - struggling to earn enough money to buy the land that should have rightfully been theirs from him before he finds another buyer. Meanwhile Cassidy works for one of the families that's built a mansion on the shores of Cherry Blossom lake.

And while Jake knows he should steer clear of Cassidy and her Hollywood royalty employer, he is completely helpless to resist the pull he felt towards Cassidy from the very first moment they met. I loved the way the friendship and romance developed between Cassidy and Jake, and the undercurrent of strong family ties that ran through the book for both of them. Their willingness to do anything for their siblings really highlights how their not nearly as different as Jake was certain they were at first glance. I'm looking forward to rest of their families finding their own happily ever afters.

This is the first in a new series by the author. Jake is a fisherman who is the oldest in the family and takes care of everyone. He and his siblings are working to save money to purchase the land that was their grandfather’s that their Uncle is selling off. Cassidy is a personal assistant to millionaires that recently have built their mansion at Cherry Blossom Lake. She, too, also is the oldest and is taking care of her mom as well as her younger sister that has medical issues. They meet when Jake delivers a generator to Cassidy and that is where the fun begins! This stand alone HEA in the series made me laugh, swoon, fan myself, and cry. The author pulls you right into the story and keeps you reading. You feel the laughter as well as the struggles as they deal with their families. Absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Another fabulous series by Tawna Fenske. I loved this book and really enjoyed meeting all the Spencer-King’s. First we got Jake and Cassidy and their meeting was hilarious and the start of their attraction. I loved everything about these two. The attraction between Jake and Cassidy was apparent to everyone and no one was surprised by it. Cassidy was the personal assistant to a famous, wealthy couple who were living in a huge mansion on the new Cherry Blossom Lake and Jake is from town whose family has been around for a long time.
I liked meeting Cassidy’s family and seeing the growth her mom had and also the growth Cassidy’s sister was able to achieve. I loved all of Jake’s family and am so excited for all of their stories.
This was a great start to a new series and I can not wait for the rest!

Jake and Cassidy’s story of opposites that attract is intense and while you can see that they fit each other so well the reasons that they can’t are many and stand in the way. Jake and his family have been burned by a family member and all their hard work goes to trying to save their family’s land, but the rich newcomers to their small town seem to want to buy up all and everything they can. While Jake can’t stand these rich out of towners encroaching on his territory once he meets Cassidy, he knows getting involved is a big no, but the attraction between them is too much to fight. Preconceived notions and judgmental attitudes have these two at each other’s throats from the jump until they realize they aren’t what the other expected, but the connections Cassidy has to those Jake can’t stand has him keeping her at arm’s length. The banter between Cassidy and Jake will have you rolling with laughter one second then falling in love the next. The family ties and bonds inn this story is so heartwarming I can’t wait to see more from this group and the small town, especially Lucy’s story.
