I really like the idea of a yard sale to use Spanish words in context and have an active fun story. However, many of the words are difficult to define simply from the context and instead need to be looked up in the glossary in the back which really destroys the flow of the story. The lesson of the story is nice but doesn't feel quite completely resolved. The illustrations seem just okay, although I have trouble buying the characters as animals, although that always neatly does away with any concerns about what ethnicity to make the characters. I do like the sort of muted colours of the pastels on coloured paper. Somehow, the expressions of the character sin the pictures seem stronger than what is depicted by the text, likely due to the adherence to rhyme which makes a nice read-aloud but is somehow lacking.
