This is the first book in the Christianus Sextus trilogy, set in the copper-mining town of Røros (Trøndelag, Norway) in the immediate aftermath of the Great Northern War (1700-1721). The books are a historical dramatisation of the establishment of the Christianus Sextus mine by people who came from all over Europe. I started to read these brilliant historical novels following a visit to Røros when I lived in Norway. As far as I am aware, Falkberget’s work has not been translated, which is a real shame.
