Jimmy Coates #3

Jimmy Coates: Revenge

Rate this book
With his family torn apart and his life in danger from the British Secret Service, Jimmy seeks refuge in the USA. But running isn't good enough. His enemy will always find him.

They see everything.
They're in every shadow.
They're inside his head.

It's time to end the chase.

The Times (London):
"Despite the search for the next Anthony Horowitz or JK Rowling, children’s publishers often fail to realise when they have struck gold. They pump money into solemn, literary offerings by established authors which no normal child is going to hanker after and leave the rip-roaring read to fend for itself. Joe Craig is a case in point. His Jimmy Coates series is about a twelve-year-old boy, who thinks he is normal until he discovers that he is only 38 per cent human. Scientists have manipulated genetics to grow Jimmy into something that will become an assassin, “designed to reach active service capability” once he is 18...
"Like Anthony Horowitz’s splendid fantasies, they tap into almost everything a bolshy boy wants and feels. Immensely clever, immediately engaging, they will prepare a child for Orwell and Huxley... Pure gold for boys who have read everything by Anthony Horowitz — or have not been able to tackle him yet."

Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA):
“The perfect primer to the Bourne series by Robert Ludlum.”

Red House Children’s Book Award:
“A stimulating thriller that kept everyone enthralled.”

INIS:
“…an immensely entertaining espionage thriller for young readers… Most importantly, this novel is quite simply fantastic fun to read, and will keep many readers aged 10+ entranced for hours.”

Those who have read the first two and enjoyed them wont be disappointed by this new installment. It has a lot of pace and great plot. I really enjoyed how the characters developed and of course absolutely loved all the action. I found myself screaming at the book towards the end, desperate to find out what happened.

This book talks about Jimmy Coates and his friends hiding for now until this assassin comes breaking into their house. After a few minutes of battling, the assassin was named Zafi actually an ally and was also 38%human like Jimmy Coates. The assassin wants Jimmy Coates to join her but he rejected. He has other things on his mind, who was his father? So he and his friends go hunt to find Jimmy's father only to be in more trouble...

I picked up this book because I wanted to continue the series. The series was just like Alex Rider (but obviously not as good) and I'm interested in finding out if Jimmy Coates is going to find out who his father was.

I finished this book because it was okay. It wasn't as good as Alex Rider though. But it had a lot of action and adventure. I also wanted to find out if he actually finds out who his father was, but it was a cliffhanger and never told.

I think I would recommend this to Rachel because likes adventure books! Rachel also likes the Alex Rider series and this series is related to it. She also read the first book and said it was really good and I want her to continue the series.

This has been on my shelf for years, and I always assumed I'd enjoy it because I love the Alex Rider series so much. However there was a few problems I had with this book.

The main one was that this is the third in the series, but the first that I read, so I was quite confused at the least for most of the book. I didn't really understand the situation as I haven't read about Jimmy's past adventures.

The third in the series, which takes the main characters on a long journey of discovery. Jimmy continues to develop his powers as well as becoming more aware of how far people will go to manipulate him for their own purposes. In Jimmy's case his powers are at the root of it but any teenager will relate to the feelings of powerlessness and isolation Kimmy experiences.

Great stuff!

Fast moving page turner featuring Jimmy Craig, a kind of high tech Superboy, hunted by the British secret service and on the run and in hiding with his mom and friends - if you want adventure that never stops, grab this one and settle down in your favorite place with a bunch of snacks - you won't want to move.

For a YA series, I really am enjoying reading them. This is the third book, and it's a pretty light read, but when I'm in the mood for something that isn't intellectually challenging, this was the perfect book.

I think that revenge could be a good book only for boys... And has a lot of action. It's about a teenage boy who is part robot and part human. That's all i'm gonna tell u guys. I don't want to spoil it for you!

I loved this book. More characters are introduced. I'm glad he did more than just run away in this book. But I hope Viggo's heart heals. I don't believe his 'father'! He's so horrible.

- This book was really gripping, more than the other book due to the personal problem of Jimmy wanting to find out who his real dad is. I found the way Jimmy has to fights the programming inside of him fascinating to read, and something I've never read anything similar to.
- I would recommend this book to people who like teen fiction, and to anyone who likes a gripping read.

Jimmy is a 12 year old who has been created by the covert military intelligence agency NJ7. They have manipulated human genetics to ‘grow’ him as an organic assassin, designed to become fully operative at the age of 18. But as their mind control of Jimmy begins to become obvious, he discovers that NJ7 is corrupt and he fights against them and their programming.
