This book is quite possibly THE example of the poorest writing in a novel. Ever. And, to be honest, I've read some real shite.
It's a novel from a screenplay, which might kind of make the fact that it was so awful more understandable.
But you know, never mind. I read it all the same, because that's what I do once I start a book.
Now I just need to get rid of it. That says something, because I don't just go around giving books away. It's just not something I do. I am a book hoarder. I'd feel guilty even releasing it at Bookcrossings, it's just that bad.
I saw this film with John Travolta and Lily Tomlin as a teenager, and read the subsequent book, which I rather enjoyed as I ended up reading it several times. Strip (as in 'Sunset Strip') is a young man who meets an older woman on the beach and they strike up a relationship. At least I think it might have been on the beach. It was a long time ago and I can't remember, but I liked the book enough to remember it 30 years later.
Grabbed this off the shelf in my grandmas attic because I couldn’t resist the Lily Tomlin and John Travolta pics inside. TBH, It was pretty terrible. Not even, like, entertaining-yet-terrible. Mostly just terrible. Wouldn’t recommend, but it is a bit interesting to see how things (hi, consent and sexual harassment) have changed since the late ‘70s.
