Book One of the Dareville Series. Dare you let the truth get in the way of love? Rock and roll legend Brady Garriston is in a slump, careerwise and in his love life. He is desperate for a comeback (and a "cum" back), and finds a possible solution in masquerading in small town Dareville, where he can clear the slate and start fresh. Brady finds his muse in the lovely and uninhibited school teacher Ellie Shaw, and soon the two are making more than just beautiful music together. But will Brady's deception bring on a sour note to their relationship? And what of the secret Ellie is keeping from Brady? Second edition, published December, 2008. 2006 Fruity Awards finalist!
...This story had some really hot scenes that spanned a lot of scenerios. M/M M/F M/M/F. A little bit of everything.
...There was a good flow to the story around the main character's meeting that put you right into the scene with out a lot flashbacks or monologues. The scenes that were in there had purpose and tied together nicely.
...I like the premise of a school teacher's dirty side. (Well who doesn't?)
Bad...
...I went into this story expecting Erotica, and was a little bummed to get much more of a steamy romance. This was rated 5 flames at ARe, and it definitely did not hit that for me.
...The ending wasn't really an ending but a setup for the rest of the series to come. And one of the people the author took some serious time describing...well she didn't show up until the epilogue.
...and although I didn't mind the M/M stuff as much as I thought I might, it didn't sit well with me that our hero was picturing women the whole time. I mean if he wanted a girl...well damn he's a rock star...he can go get a girl.
It was overall a cute romance with some sexual experimentation thrown in.
Rock star Brady Garriston needs to jump start his career and – after his girlfriend dumps him – his love life. Brady knows he needs to get out of New York City and he thinks the answer to all his problems can be found in the small town of Dareville, Virginia. Brady intends to keep a low profile in Dareville by posing as Gary Stone, but his ruse is hard to keep up when he meets Ellie Shaw, the cousin of the girlfriend Brady wants back. The fact that Ellie looks like his ex is a mark in her favor, and Brady hopes to win Ellie over in order to woo his ex. But soon Brady finds that it’s Ellie he wants, not her cousin. It’s also Ellie who inspires him like no other. That may be all well and good for him, but what will happen when Ellie learns the truth of his deception?
What happens when an aging, hedonistic rock star meets a would-be sex kitten school teacher? To find out, you have to read (or listen to) Truth or Dare. While I enjoy erotic romance, even those that land more on erotica side of fence, I still like to have three-dimensional characters in my story, which was missing for me in Truth or Dare. Brady and Ellie’s journey felt more like hormones-gone-wild than an actual story and there was an almost teenager-like feel to their behavior and dialogue. I listened to Truth or Dare rather than read it, so my lack of enjoyment can be partly (though I can’t honestly say how much) attributed to the narrator, whose reading of Truth or Dare was a touch over the top. I really wanted to like Truth or Dare, but the erotic escapades weren’t intriguing enough to compensate for the missing depth in Ellie and Brady.
Good read-once. Plot is relationship driven. Hero Brady Garrison is an aging [50:] musician/composer/singer who hasn't written anything in two years. His girlfriend dumped before he left for Europe for several months. He returns hoping she's over it - she's not. He goes off incognito to Dareville, a small town in Virginia, pretending to be a small time studio musician. He meets the much younger heroine Ellie Shaw - sparks fly. Heroine is sexually 'adventurous' and 'unafraid' to ask for what she wants and they spend lots of time checking things off her fantasy 'to-do' list. Complications? Heroine is the old girlfriend's cousin and they are 'closer than sisters'. Heroine knows him as Gary Stone [his incognito name:] not Brady Garriston the star. There are a couple of male/male scenes and one menage.

Brady and Ellie seem to be part of several of the later stories.
Two cousins date the same man unbeknownst to either. Rock star Brady Garriston may be losing his edge. He needs to get out of town and goes to a small town hoping to get his muse back. He finds Ellie there. She keeps things interesting. She is open and free. She also reminds him of an ex that he wants to get back but she is so different and Ellie starts to get under his skin and makes him forget the ex.
I liked Ellie and Brady. I liked the playfulness Ellie brings to Brady, how open she is. The secondary characters are interesting especially Cal. This sets up The Dareville Series very nicely. I look forward to visiting the town again.
This story didn't do much for me. I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I felt that Brady was a middle-aged sex hound, though he seemed to have found the perfect match with Ellie. It did bother me that Brady used to date Ellie's cousin, Claire. I didn't think there was anything special to this story and I'm reluctant to read the next one in the series.
