What would you sacrifice to do the right thing?

Kit left her past behind ten years ago. All she wants is to fly around in her spaceship with her dog and steal things. There’s no room in her life for complications, and the mysterious man who’s been dropped in her lap (without her consent) screams complication. He won’t tell her who he is or why his kidnappers are chasing him across the galaxy. Yet, she can’t quite convince herself to get rid of him, even if it means confronting her past.

Ben’s whole life has been turned upside down after being kidnapped and tortured for weeks. He thought the pretty, purple-haired woman with her brash words and tough exterior would be his salvation, but she’s not in any hurry to release him. And the more time he spends with her, the less he wants to be free. Despite being her prisoner, he can’t help but be drawn to her. If only she was willing to give them a chance.

When his kidnappers get desperate, the last thing Ben wants is for Kit to get caught in the crossfire. Can they both ignore their feelings if it means keeping the other safe?

Thief’s Pride is the second book in the science fiction romance Solar Hearts series. The series will be eight books, featuring six couples.

I gave him a false smile and stood up. “Now that we have that settled, we have a few hours until we reach our destination. I would suggest you get some sleep.” I withdrew more zip ties from my back pocket.
Ben lifted an eyebrow at me. “You don’t need to tie me to the chair. It’s not like I can go anywhere.”
“I’m not taking any chances.” I paused a moment to consider. “I could always tie you to the bed instead.”
His face colored just slightly, his only reaction. He didn’t even say anything. I approached slowly, skirting Ajax, and tucking my gun away. He didn’t move; he just watched me with that intense look. There must have been something wrong with me because I found it mesmerizing. Even though he hadn’t acknowledged my comment or really made a move on me, I found his look to be more than just a look. And I liked it.
I stopped directly in front of him, almost expecting him to try to overpower me or something. Just…something. The air felt charged with an undercurrent of energy that made me sure he would make a move of some sort. But he did nothing. He just watched me.
Narrowing my eyes, I slowly knelt and reached for his first ankle. His hand moved, leisurely, and caught a lock of my hair. He slowly pulled it between his fingers. My heart tripped over itself at the intimate gesture. I surged to my feet and grabbed his hand, twisting it to the side.
Pain shot across his features, and he reached for me, probably to free himself, but I used it as an excuse to lock his legs between mine to hold him in place. I grabbed his free hand, turned his arm to lock his elbow, and put just a bit of pressure on it.
He instantly stilled. I could see he was still in pain, so I lightened my grip just a touch. His eyes never left mine. But he still said nothing.
“You don’t get to touch me, Romeo. That’s not how this works.”
Then he smiled, flashing his dimples again. He seemed relaxed, even though he was far from in control. I frowned, my grip tightening instinctively. It was like I had just played into exactly what he wanted, and I was at a loss. What game is he playing?
“Something amusing?”
Ben kept smiling, but he lifted an eyebrow at me. “You were the one talking about tying me to a bed.”

4.5 for sure! Kit wanting to just leave and be by herself with her dog is VERY relatable. I enjoy that someone just comes into her life and his (Ben) storyline is great. The back and forth from when Ben and Kit first meet, with her sarcasm and overall banter, to trying to keep their feelings for one another from each other.. this was such a great read!

I received this ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/opinions above are my own!

Great romantic sci fi adventure

The worldbuilding is interesting, the characters (the good guys) are likeable, and the story is thrilling. I don't like love triangles, but Allen handled this one with grace. I'm looking forward to Carter's story.

Thief's Pride by Jenn Allen is book two in the Solor Hearts Series. After reading book one Assassin’s Trust I just knew I would have to continue along with the series. This is a fantastic sci-fi book filled with suspense and intrigue. The plot was great and the pace/flow kept me interested all the way u til the end. The banter between Ben and Kit was great, I loved everything about their interactions. I definitely felt the vibe that Kit was laying down a l out just wanting to be left alone with her dog. But enter Ben and he just shakes everything up! Them denying their feelings was great to read bc you can just feel as you were reading how they just meshed. Overall I really loved this adventure!

A Very interesting space opera saga continues

I'm lucky, getting an early peek at a brand new sequel. I absolutely enjoyed this highly interesting space opera as the saga continues. This story is well written, the World Building is easy to understand, and I rooted for Kit from page 1.
