Code of Conduct revolves around the controversial Pueblo affair; and it gives a key to the mystery of that disastrous episode.
Owen Quade, a high American intelligence officer, and his wife Margaret have come to Switzerland on a skiing vacation. When they are invited as house guests to Wilhelm Kern's isolated chalet, their holiday seems to be luxurious. But Quade soon learns that Wilhelm Kern is much more than an urbane host. He is an enemy agent, with an assignment centering on Owen Quade and the Pueblo. The tension mounts and erupts in violence as the story drives to its shattering climax.
Elliot Arnold was an American newspaper feature writer, novelist, screenwriter, and became a feature writer with the New York World-Telegram. Among his books, Elliott Arnold is probably best known for his novel Blood Brother that was made into the acclaimed 1950 motion picture Broken Arrow and an ensuing 1956 television series of the same name. Among his other works, his 1949 biography of Sigmund Romberg was made into the 1954 musical film, Deep in My Heart. Elliott Arnold died in New York City in 1980 at the age of sixty-seven. He was married to actress Glynis Johns.
Couldn't really get into this one. The prose was rather stiff and rigid, the plot was average and the implementation was average, overall wouldn't probably pick up another of the authors books unless I'd heard something favourable about it.
